    • The same happened to me only a short sms and it took 2 credits. Not to worry just thought it was odd

Already had an account from last year's bonus credit offer but couldn't find anywhere to enter a promo code (note to SMS Global - surely it would be easier to let existing customers add credits with a promo code than have them create new accounts!?). Opened a new account using another mobile number but forgot to use the promo code so sent them an email and it was added in less than an hour. Great service.

  • Nice one!

  • I got charged 2 credits too! But I sent the sms from the website

    • hey there, I did some testing too and found out its a minimum charge of 2 credits per delivery. This means that its best you text above 160 chars and below 320 chars to make up to 2 sms messages. Whether you are sending a text below 160 chars or below 320 chars, the charge is the same.

      • Ok, that would explain it. Is this mentioned somewhere on their site? Seems a rather sneaky way to make us use up our credits faster, thinking we get 225 SMSes when it's only 112 max. Still, they were free.

        • I checked my account again this morning, it looks like they might have fixed the problem. I have sent three msgs in total, first one being one word called "test" and the other 2 being 200+ chars. The total credits deducted was 5.

          • @annoynimous: I sent two regular (shorter) messages on the 25/5 and got charged 2 credits correctly. I think it might have been a (hopefully temporary) bug for some.

            • @daydream: I sent one message today (159 characters) via web to SMS and was charged 2 credits.

  • nice service. As someone already mentioned, the beauty is you can send/receive SMS via email. (and it's free!) There is no service available other than this SMS Global so it's very special. Thanks!

OK, I can now confirm that it is possible to register/activate a new $2 Vodafone prepaid SIM without needing to add credit. This has enabled me to create an account with SMS Global and I have just changed my mobile caller ID to my 'original' mobile number. Now that I have registered I can essentially discard the Vodafone SIM as it serves no further purpose. Ultimately, I've managed to get 225 SMS credits for $2, which is truly an OzBargain!

    • But still no positive vote? ;p Hey, just curious… Am a long time customer, and have purchased many credits from them, plus got 225 free sms when I first signed up. Very happy with their service. They allow mms to be sent too, but costs more credits. Real useful for sending someone a pic of something that wasn't taken using my phone.

  • hmm i dont really trust the sms counter. it once said i had 5000 sms left :S, but it got fixed the next day, and other minor sms counting problems. but the service is good so far, all my sms's get sent so all good i guess :P

  • i got the credit……. thanx heaps….
