  • I wonder if this will be a 5 minute wonder like Guvera?

    • +1

Guvera actually started in 2008. They did alright but were eventually muscled out of the market. Supposedly had 10mill customers at one point.

It has been online for several years in Europe and it's a really decent service. We got a 30 free day offer only, though. It's worth a try!

good deal…at this rate i wont be paying for music this year

  • Thanks TA

  • Just checked and it's not one of the Optus "free streaming" providers. Does anyone know a good intro offer on the Optus free streaming providers?

  • Do you know if I cancel today will the account remain active until November (like Presto)?

    • +1

Yes, I just cancelled straight away from the subscription page and I still had the subscription for 3 months.

  • The power of Spotify is in their curated playlists…does deezer offer the same?

    • No need to complain since you aren't paying for the first three months.

    • I reckon it's more the recommendations that are algorithm generated that look at other people with similar playlists across the world and add in stuff you're missing as a rec that makes spotify the best.

      Very smart.

Love it, I tend to swap between Spotify and Deezer depending on the promotions. Deezer is pretty good.

  • might try this, even though i have spotify for free

  • It says that music is accessible offline, if you download the songs and then cancel the subscription will they remain on your phone and be playable by other apps?

    • Try it and let us know how you go ;)

    • nmachine> Sorry, no. The way it usually works is that those songs are still encrypted so they can only be played in the service's own app.

I use Deezer and it's a good app and I actually prefer it to Spotify. It has been around for a while now so must still be going strong :)

    • I used Deezer back in 2007 so yeah it's been around for almost 10yrs at least now.

    • +1

I have both apps on premium. I found Deezer takes a lot longer to start and buffer a new song, whereas Spotify is almost instant. Apart from this they are same same.

I use https://soundiiz.com/converter to convert my curated playlists between the two. I add my new accounts as friends so 'we' can both contribute to the playlists instead starting fro scratch.

  • Already have Spotify premium but might give this a try.

    Screw Apple Music.

  • My own experience is that Deezer does much better than Spotify for finding older and relatively obscure songs from around the world. Not long ago I felt like hearing some "wog-music" from my childhood - Deezer had it all, Spotify none.

Use Deezer as my primary streaming provider after getting a year free with a Sonos Play 1. Renewals are a good price (I paid $60 for my last 12mth renewal - $5/mth). It's well integrated with Sonos and same catalog as everyone else. Think they have a higher bitrate for the whole catalog as well.

nice. I hate how most of the streaming services have stopped offering 1yr subscriptions.

Does the Sonos have its own app built in? or does it stream off your phone?
I have a samsung soundbar with the apps builtin, but I usually just use phone + BT. But yesterday I used the builtin app with pandora (basic) and even after 3hrs I didn't get any Ads. ot sure if I was just lucky, or whether somehow the builtin app doesn't do the ads (if so do other apps do this)

I just upgraded my Samsung soundbar app & there's quite a few different ones out there, quite a few (the last 4) I've never heard of.
      Pandora
      TuneIn
      Spotify
      Amazon Music
      Deezer
      7digital
      8tracks
      Murfie
      Tidal

      • Sorry, late post.

Sonos has it's own app - it unifies all of the other apps & music locations into a single interfaces.

Music streams directly to the Sonos device from the 'net, so no need for phones/apps/PC's to be 'playing' the music.

Works amazingly across multiple rooms - also love being able to send the TV sound upstairs when trying to keep track of the footy scores.

  • Can confirm existing customer for a year. I just subscribed. Cheers.

  • Thanks TA. Can't wait to use this at work instead of soundcloud. :)

  • Sonos?

  • Good find. No current Spotify deal so giving this a go. The browser interface seems to have more discovery features than the Windows 10 app, it seems.
