    • Thanks that's even better!

  • Take note that these pods are more expensive than most other por types to buy retail.

    • +3

i'd also rate them better than most pods as well.

    • +1

These are also 16 per box which make them seem more expensive around the other boxes of 10 per box. Price is really on par with Nespresso branded capsules.

    • $10 for 16 capsules isn't much different to others. Main difference I find is there's no compatibles so no other choice than their brand.

      • If these are 'MAP capsules' (and I think they are), both Woolworths and Gloria Jeans are compatible. Think their might be others too.

        • Lavazza has their own capsules, different to map and there are no alternatives in store.

        • -1

          @badarz:
Sure? I have a Lavazza A Modo Mio machine and it definitely takes map - been using them for years since the genuine ones are a bit dear (though very nice).

        • +1

@tazmaniak: that's interesting. Someone should update http://coffeecapsulereviews.com with this info.

        • +1

@badarz: Oops, I might have made a mistake since I have 3 different coffee machines between my different work sites!
rikey I'm dumb sometimes, I really hope no one went crazy buying stuff on my false info!
          Very sorry for the confusion.

      • +1

I reuse the pods 3-4 times with my favourite Vittoria grounds (which tastes better than Lavazzas own IMO). Just wrap a tinfoil around the pod and it works fine :)

  • If you think a box of 16 pods worths $8 then jump on this deal. Basically you buy 8 boxes and get the machine free.

    • Pods are usually dearer than $8. That was the price on special last week. Usually around $10.50 in Woolies & Coles for basic variety. Up to $13 for better tasting pods at HN etc.

So even better deal, as long as pods aren't near / past best by date!

      • Update $11.92 / 16 basic pods on Coles online
These are the more expensive better tasting pods!

  • Usually a cashback deal each year making units like this free or even make up to $25 profit like last year. Also included 32 pods free.

    • -1

      "Usually"??
      I think it's happened once.

      • +1

Check the cashback & other offers as far back as 2010!
I think that makes it pretty "usual". But can't predict future promos. Seems it's now a year since last promo, but has been offered at different times of year, twice last year.

I've claimed in 2 different promos. Never paid more than $6 for a machine (but included 12 pod sampler). Have received 480 free pods (Lavazza system error - kept sending pods).

        • +2

Do you EVER pay for a drink, infidel? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/260878

          @carwashhair:
          PAY?? 😯

Just finishing one of those πŸ†“ Woolies beers🍺, after a πŸ†“ Vipanio pizza. Vipanio are giving me a πŸ†“ beer / wine next time with πŸ†“ meal πŸ˜€

Must put a πŸ†“ pod of coffee in machine I made a $15 profit on…

But better than πŸ†“ alcohol is being paid for πŸ†“ Absolut 4 packs! a while back πŸ˜€

    • But this deal is really for the pods! Of course you need a machine too.
Great value deal for better Lavazza pods than supermarkets sell (if fresh stock)

plastic based capsules cause cancer, under high heat and pressure enough plastic particles make their way to ur coffee that can cause cell death and dna mutations. Even if its BPA free. Do some research on this

Nespresso are made of aliuminum which doesnt have cancer causing plastics

    • The heat is minimal not even boiling temp I reckon.

        Google it u lazy sh*t

        • +3

You flat out made a claim that "plastic based capsules cause cancer" based on "Google". "Googling it" (no matter how lazy I am) isn't "research".

I'll debunk the one about furan levels in pod coffee causing cancer first to show you how it's done, and then you have a go at providing a link to a peer reviewed scientific study demonstrating that plastic coffee pods cause cancer.

"In order for furan ingestion to exceed the maximum acceptable values, a person would have to drink at least 20 cups of capsule coffee or 30 espressos per day (for the brands with the highest furan content), or 200 instant coffees. These estimates were made on the basis of 40 ml cups and an average body weight for coffee drinkers of around 70 Kg."
Plataforma SINC. "Espresso makers: Coffee in capsules contains more furan than the rest." ScienceDaily. ScienceDaily, 14 April 2011. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/04/110413090012.htm
          which references
M.S. Altaki, F.J. Santos, M.T. Galceran. Occurrence of furan in coffee from Spanish market: Contribution of brewing and roasting. Food Chemistry, 2011; 126 (4): 1527 DOI: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0308814610…

          Your turn. Science is fun.

  • When DS closed, it was selling these Lavazza machines. Also, this model was cleared out in most major stores a year back. Lavazza online sell machine for $99. I've only got $20-25 new on Gumtree. It's a small, no-frills machine.

The main advantage of this deal is the pods. But pods were past best by date even when DS closed! I had posted a warning about this & others also reported beyond expiry stock on sale. The flavour & aroma deteriorate with time.

    32 x Deliziosamente Capsules
    32 x Magicamente Capsules
    32 x Tierra Capsules
These are the more expensive better tasting pods! Not sold by Coles or Woolies.

Best to ask Kogan about pod expiry date first.
Great value deal for better pods (if fresh stock)

I've asked DS - waiting on response.

    • Lavazza pod varieties
Online price of included pods = $76!
Plus 2 packs of pods sold by supermarkets at $8-12 each.

    • As usual - painfully slow customer service…

      • Due the popularity of this item, we are unable to provide the best before date for the capsules.
We can guarantee that you will have ample time to use them.

  • K/Bogan

  • I have this machine. Measured water temp is 69-70 deg C. For comparison my 4 year old Nespresso DeLonghi U gives 80-81 deg C.

    • Neither is hot enough for good extraction, but 70Β°C is really pathetic.

  • I'm still on free pods and one extra machine stored and unused. Might be silly to buy third one, even just for the pods? :P

    • +1

      sell the machines w/o pods.
      then it makes sense.

      • Good idea, worth to consider :) could be $20-25 after selling fees and postage :P

        • i'd settle for $10-15 hehe.

        • +1

          @dasher86:

I might keep the machine all the same :) Or gift it for someone for Xmas ;)

        • +2

@datafellows: Yeah I gave the free machines and each a box of pods from registering the machined got from last deal to friends and relatives. I kept 1 box of pods as commission to help Lavazza promoted their coffee. Win-win.
