  • No idea yet, coupon obviously isn't active until 10am regardless.

I say post it up as unconfirmed and it will be moved to the forum if it turns out to be targeted.

Going by the last one similar to this it could very well be targeted, but at least posting up will give people a heads up to see.

Edit: Actually going by point 9 it looks like it's targeted.

This offer is only available to you if you have received it directly from eBay and cannot be transferred to or used by a third party.

    • Can't post as I'm an overseas user :( Feel free to post it yourself.

      • Posted it so will see how it goes.

  • The offer entitles you to $20 off the total purchase price when you spend more than $30 in one transaction during the Offer Period….. So is that ttl $30.99 less $20…. That really is an incredable offer - $20 per customer to turn over $10, makes me wonder if ebay is feeling a pinch….

too good to be true otherwise

        • +1

It's targeted, doesn't work on my 2 accounts.

      • +1

Targeted offer according to condition 9.

    • +1

Most likely targeted, but bring it on if it's for everyone.

    • +1

Point 9 from the T&Cs makes it sound targeted.

This offer is only available to you if you have received it directly from eBay and cannot be transferred to or used by a third party.

    • +1

Probably targeted to those who have not used eBay in a while.. I'll get my wife to check her account!

      • +21

        Sooo
        Step 1: get a wife
Step 2: get her an eBay account
        Step 3: ???
        Step 4: Profit

        • +19

Unless you're a female, then its

Step 1: get a marriage equality bill passed in parliament.
          Step 1a: Get a Wife
Step 2: get her an eBay account
          Step 3: ???
          Step 4: Profit

          • +1

@ozy: Still the same number of steps.

          • -7

@ozy: Step 1: Declare yourself Transgender
Step 1a: Get a new name
Step 2: get it an eBay account
            Step 3: ???
            Step 4: Profit

And on goes the argument 😷

And you avoid the isssue that onetwothree says below

Anyone who thinks they will profit from having a wife has obviously never been married before!

          • +30

            @ozy:

            Step 1: get a wife

            Step 4: Profit

These statements grossly contradict one another

          • @ozy: @RockyRaccoon:

the negs suggest there's a lot of people here that hate transgenders

          • +1

@ozy: @montorola: i believe grossly doesn't adequately convey the contradiction of the statements… lol i'm yet to find a stronger word though.. so + from me.. :P

          • -3

            @ozy: @RockyRaccoon: if i can i will give you 1 million upvotes!

          • -2

@ozy: @jenkemjunkie: Actually it could be the opposite, they may think that I am making fun of transgenders, and as such PinC Oh well either way they probably can only see humour if doesn't offend their beliefs.

Or maybe the "it" part - I was just trying to keep "it" as gender neutral nothing more nothing less.

Would be at least nice if they gave some indication.

Anyone who thinks they will profit from having a wife has obviously never been married before!

          • +4

@onetwothreefour: I for one still appreciate non-PC wife humour!

          • +53

@onetwothreefour: @Tafe: my wife had her credit card stolen 3 months ago. We haven't reported it to the police yet, because the theif that stole it is spending less than she was!

          • @onetwothreefour:

Anyone who thinks they will profit from having a wife has obviously never been married before!

And/Or been living under a rock for the last 40 years.

          • @onetwothreefour: @shmahoo: but then you had to report it, after the thief gave it to his wife

          • @onetwothreefour: I did not know what a "finance committee" was until I got married. My OP simply suggests that I spend more money than my other half does, thus the inactivity (frugal) statement about my wife :p

          • @onetwothreefour: if i can i will give you 1 million upvotes!

          • +2

@onetwothreefour: @shmahoo: Wait til the thief's wife gets hold of it.

          • @onetwothreefour: Part of the reason for pre-marriage rituals (dating, engagement) is so that you can learn this.

          • @onetwothreefour: @mathew42:i learnt the hard way. : (

          • @onetwothreefour: @mathew42: sounds like someone else who isn't married

          • @onetwothreefour: @onetwothree: Oh, I've been married for almost 2 decades, but I will have to confess my wife brings home amply bacon so in all honesty I have little to complain about and the credit card is comfortably paid off.

We have a mutual understanding: I don't mention the new handbag, shoes, etc. and she doesn't stop me from buying lego. I also do my best to cope with my favourite jeans & t-shirts disappearing and being replaced with new ones. :-)

        • +2

Step 1 will cost you far more than 20 bux mate

      • I hadn't used mine in a while. Got the offer.

Starts at 10am. Read the description

    • Yeah, I dont have to. Most likey because I spend too much already and they dont need to tempt me LOL!!

    • Cheering if this is for real!!

    • Will Try at 10AM

    • +1

I got one of these codes when I created a second ebay account. Very annoying as I never received anything on my main account.

    • I will have to log in to my 'other' emails which I use for setting up things like the seldom used 'other' ebay accounts which I use for my 'other' purchases.

    • +1

TIL ozbargainers have 10 different eBay account

      starts creating email accounts

      • +1

Haha no point in creating just eBay accounts, i suspect this will be linked to 1 per paypal account, as most eBay coupon codes are linked per use to PayPal.

Therefore ya will need to create 10 different Paypal Accounts too.

        • Interesting. Is a new paypal account simply an email? or is it more involved than that?

    • Now
      What should I buy

    • +4
      • There seems to be a list of retailers:

Adairs, Amcal, BCF, Bing Lee, Chemist Warehouse, Culture Kings, Dan Murphy's, Dell Australia, Godfreys, Kogan, Masters, Milan Direct, Myer, Officeworks, Peter's of Kensington, Rays Outdoors, Samsung Australia, Sony Australia, Style Tread, Supercheap Auto, SurfStitch, Target, Ted's Cameras, Temple & Webster, The Good Guys, Toys "R" Us, Victoria's Basement, Zanui

        • If targeted then why above

    • +1

      Seems targeted.
"This offer is only available to you if you have received it directly from eBay and cannot be transferred to or used by a third party."

    • local ?

      doesn't work for me

        • +3

If it's targeted, it should be in the forums.

        • +3

          the offer is targeted.

I'm letting people know not to waste their time

Sometimes we make negs or in this case comments which are ill-informed and unnecessary.

    • -3

      WORKS!

      • what store did you use it with? you aren't using a new account are you?

        • -1

No, just a random ebay only seller.

    • no good…does not work

    • Didn't work for me. Pity

    • yep no good for me either

    • Doesn't work here either. Was looking forward to saving $20.

    • May be for new accounts?

    • +1

did not work, had an existing account.

    • does not work for me

    • Nope

    • Didn't work for me either

    • +21

Not going to neg deal, but eBay and their targeted offers are starting to *&$@ me. I buy and sell a fair bit on eBay, and am yet to receive one of their targeted offers. I understand that they are probably trying to lure back people that don't/rarely use their accounts, but wouldn't hurt to occasionally throw a targeted offer in the direction of people that generate money for eBay.

      Ok, whinge over.

    • Didn't work for me with my existing account

    • no? or yes? nay? or yey?

    • Doesn't work.

    • +1

no good. Is eBay going to force me to make a new account?

    • +1

Just set up a new account said code not valid, so I guess it is targeted

    • No dice.
      Or discount.

    • No deal didnt work

    • Couldn't get it to work, even with a new ebay/paypal account

    • Doesn't work for old account here.

  • -1

Must be targeted then. That is alright.

    • Lucky Duck… it's not working for the rest of us (inc. me!).

      So it's a targeted offer.
And it's targeting certain PayPal/eBay accounts.
I'm guessing only for accounts that were created in the last 30 days (as per protocol).

      edit: It seems not.
Some people are getting the offer on their old accounts, but not their newer ones.
I'm guessing its a targeted offer for accounts that DON'T get much activity.
With that said, I think eBay will not hand this offer out to new members looking to cash in.

      • LOL there's probably more to the "not much activity" criterion too, 'coz my wife's account has made 1 transaction 2 years ago, and that is the only activity (not even a login). Code didn't work for her account.

  • +1

Create a new account, added item over $30 from Bing Lee,
Got the error: Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.

    • That is targeted you must already have an account and also received that offer.

  • Have people tried limiting to the list of retailers posted by ChillBro above?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3924709/redir

    EDIT:
Didn't work for me, both random item and one from Victoria's Basement. Just got the "wrong code" error.

    • No go for me.

    • Yes I added a camera from Ted's Cameras, no dice

    • +11

Yep added an Autobot from ToysRUs.

      It did not roll out.

  • I have tried a few retailers from the list of above mentioned retailers and can confirm that it does not work on my old ebay and paypal accounts. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • +1

Didn't work for both my wife's unused eBay account nor my frequently used one. Tried both random items and items from the list of stores previously posted.

Looks to be specifically targeted, or for new users only.

  • Did not work for me making a new account. I do wonder though, I made a new account but used the same phone number that is registered to my real account. Wonder if that flags it. Too lazy to test.

  • Worked for my old account (I never got the email either), I havent used Ebay in about a year though.
    I used Surfstich store too
