  • Does anyone own this phone? or perhaps shed some light on how it performs. Very tempted to get one.

There's a whole subreddit dedicated to this device.
      https://www.reddit.com/r/YotaPhone/

It is very, very dead though. Crickets chirping and tumbleweeds rolling

I had this phone (unfortunately it's not waterproof), and it is amazing. The back screen, which is always on, makes life so much better. Their customer support is also top notch - email is TechCS at yotadevices.com (it's a bit hard to find). I'd 100% recommend phone.

  • I wanted one of these real bad when they were launched but they were much too expensive, if I didn't buy a new phone last month I'd go for it.

Love the e-ink display at the back. Disappointing it's not mainstream.

    • inkcase and popslate are a bit more mainstream

I would not purchase anything from Coolicool again. Last time they had a deal during Brexit, took my money and did not send the phone, instead sending a bogus tracking number that didn't ever move from "pre-advised". I emailed asking where the phone was after 2 weeks and was assured it was shipped. Had to open a PayPal dispute 2 weeks later for refund and lost money due to further exchange rate deterioration. Buyer beware.

  • Isnt this really cheap? Didnt they use to be close to $1000 not long ago?

    • I think the Yotaphone 3 is on its way, hence the huge reduction in price.

Galaxy tab S3 is coming, I was hoping the price for tab S2 is also drop 80% like this one.

From my point of view, this might be too good to be true.

      • No news on the release of YP3 since late 2015, so who knows…

  • Any chance of throwing in a free case?

    • You can't use a case on this, you'd not be able to operate the rear screen.

  • Hmm, to order or not to order - anyone else bought from these guys in the past and had a positive experience?

    • It's also available on Tinydeal and Banggood at reasonably similar prices.

  • Im with you Loki - ready to pull the trigger

Hmmm it really could be too good to be true…even Amazon US is selling it at $299USD (unfortunately not shipping to Aus).

  • If the phone was supported by cyanogenmod or similar I'd be very tempted as the e-ink intrigues me.

YOTA Phone. Is it actually supposed to be an acronym?

    Yet Another Terrible Android Phone

      YATAP? Seriously..

No it was a joke… Lighten up.
        And face it.

Almost every day there is a new Chinese company making yet another android phone. Often they seem to only make one model before fading into obscurity and the only Google responses you will find are complaints about a lack of support.

And many of these get a large number of + votes even though often no one has ever heard of them and has no experience with the brand or device.
This may end up with the unknowing newb being sucked into buying something which may potentially be junk because he genuinely believed that the greater Ozbargain population has given the deal a green light.

My comment, although a joke was not unfounded.

        • I didn't feel like I'd need to explain this, but oh well…

Nobody was offended and nobody was disagreeing.

It was a poor attempt at a joke, primarily due to you not even using the correct letters to make your little acronym.

          That's why you got down-votes.

          @mrdavedave: Wow… I really was having a bad day wasn't I? ;)
