Another great ozbargain deal, had to buy! Trouble is i'm back on the maggie noodles and beans on toast for awhile to pay for it all 😞 Damn you ozbargain! 😉

    • For some that is an improvement to their diet.

OMG. I caved and ordered. I really don't need it…

  • So after reading the links to the problems, especially about where after formatting the drives, they aren't at full capacity.

Will that happen to these drives? I'm planing to take them out and put them into my Qnap.

  • +2

Ordered 3 on seperate orders to avoid the import tax (costs about 30 euro more shipping though), going to replace all 6 5TB WD Reds in my QNAP. Then I'm going to put a pair of 5TB's in each device, hack it a little to get them working and then sell them off. :)

  • Think this is finished, coming up as EUR 519.93 for me?

  • Any information when they are going to dispatch them.

  • Has anyones order been cancelled?

  • I havent been charged for the items . is this normal ? i ordered when it was on backorder. will they charge when stock is available again?

    • +2

Yes it's normal for Amazon, they charge when they actually have shipped the order.

      • cheers. thought i missed the deal. thought google translate might of translated something wrong when i got the sales order. good looking out.

  • Mine was posted today. Estimated delivery 12th Sept.

  • I also got a email from German Amazon saying the delivery date has been moved up to the middle of September 😀 Gotta love German efficiency but for gods sake don't mention zee war to them! 😝

    • I just got a similar message:
      Previous estimated delivery date: October 10, 2016 - 04 November 2016
      New estimated delivery date: September 27, 2016 - 01 October 2016

  • Figure-8 power cord - yay! The unboxings I'd watched were suggesting a Euro wall wart.

  • Oh, and a bit of a warning: mine was delivered via an eParcel which had "authority to leave without signature" printed on it :-/

    • I can't seem to find the answer but if one of you IT boffins can help..

I put one of these drives in the NAS and another spare. And threw in a couple of Samsung 2tb drives but it seems it needs wd drives.. is there a hack so I can. Use this duo box somehow? I don't mind if it's non raid etc

      • Samsung drives probably need to be formatted

        • +1

Yeah I formatted them each with administrative tools in windows before attempting

        • @Morty:

Yeah getting the same issues when I replace the wd drives with seagate ones.

        • @solrak:

Did you find a hack/work around to use other drives in it? It would be a shame not to be able to use this case for something.

        • +1

@Morty: Nope haven't found a workaround for this. Having a similar issue with a Seagate personal cloud 2 NAS. I hope some smart cookie can work it out as I'm starting to get a bit of a surplus collection of near useless DAS/NAS units!

        • Just removed the two 8TB drives and popped an empty Seagate ST6000DM001 (no partitions) into the first bay. Powered up the My Book Duo, and a WD Drive Utilities Helper dialog box popped up saying the device has RAID configuration issues (not unexpected).

Opened WD Drive Utilities. Next to Drive 1 Status, it said "Drive Not Supported" "Install a supported WD drive" and the options in the Configuration tab to switch between Stripe/Mirror/JBOD were greyed out.

Hmph! Will deduct a star for that when I post my German Amazon review.

    • Thanks for the warning Jabba!. Just received mine today. Came home to find the box sitting at my front door wrapped in clear wrap for the world to see! Lucky I live in a decent part of burbsville.

      • My first one came in a box, but second one was as you described - sent bare with shipping labels slapped right on the product's shrink wrap. Seems to be a new Amazon efficiency thing; some items now display the notice This item's packaging will indicate what is inside. To cover it, select Ship in Amazon box on the checkout page. Maybe it was there in German. But that plus authority to leave for an AU RRP $1150 item? Crazy!

Noticed the posts about issues with non-WD drives. I have a Seagate I'm about to reformat anyway, so I'll stick it in this weekend and report back.

  • Prices back to about 465EUR for those that are interested but still listed as a 1-2 month wait.

  • My first drive (of three) is finally shipping. Very glad to hear about the figure 8 power cord. :)

  • One of the drives in mine is DOA…. Died after transferring stuff over.
Now it won't mount, it won't format, it just sits there… mocking me.

Anyone had to return something to Amazon DE before? They don't seem to have a live chat.
