  • does it really work? anybody bought similar item before?

    • Bought one from them not long ago and it was unable to pick up too many stations.

    • Bought one before. It works perfectly if you connect it to your home antenna. Doesn't get any signal with the little one provided.

  • +1

Yeah I'm interested in it mostly if the DAB Radio works on it… so if anyone knows would be good :)

  • Can you watch TV and listen to DAB+ radio at the same time?

I'm not crazy, I like to record shows whilst listening to the radio. Haha.

  • Probably better and cheaper to buy a WandTV usb stick from Dealextreme
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8325

Reports are that it works seamlessly with Windows Media Centre

    • +1

Doesn't seem to do DAB Radio though?

    • but can they work wit WIN 7 64Bit ?
yeah i read alot of good review.. might get 1 too

      • Yeah I'd like to know if it works on win7 64bit. B/c at $20 its damn cheap but does it work?

        • I got that exact one from dealextreme and got it worked on my win7 64 bit. No driver or anything needed to install. Just plug it in and Windows Media Centre will recognize it. Watched Euro Vision with it on my laptop the other day, great! But i haven't figured out how to get the remote control work. (It worked on Windows XP, after install the driver and software come in on the disk.)

But the signal in my room isn't that good (Brisbane). Only SBS and ABC work with the small antenna. But if plug in the built-in antenna in the living room, all channels work great. Yes, the best part of this particular usb tv tuner is compatible with the tv antenna you usually get on you tv.

I also owned another one from dealextreme, an even cheaper one, it also worked fine in Sydney with the small antenna. But the only problem with both units is that i can not get channel 9 on it when i tried them in Sydney. No problem now in Brisbane though with the WandTV and wall antenna.

I hope i have told the story clear.

      • I bought a WandTV from Zazz a while ago… Works perfectly after installing drivers on Windows 7 64-bit for me :)

  • +1

I've sent them off an email asking about the DAB hopefully they get back to me before the deal ends..

  • Just wondering if this works well with MythTV…

  • i have the MSY version, you can forget the mini antenna, if you're lucky you may be able to get sbs/abc but not much else, you will need to buy a pal 2 mini bnc type connector to hook up to your main antenna

  • bought a cheapy ones a while back ago~ just dun get the hype of watching hd channels as they are the same content of the normal sd ones…

except u do get a few extra channels like go, 7 two, one hd (UFC… rather pay $1 to rent the dvd instead of watching 1 hour per week on tv with constant advertisement spamming…) and apparently poker is sport… Im not surprise if I see chess playing on it one day with intense commentator on it ;P) and a few ABCs n SBS channels for documentarys… ohohoh.. also some digital radio which is a waste of my time when im flicking through channels lol

all those whacky uhf antenna is a lie… just plug it in the wall lol

    • just don't get the hype of watching hd channels as they are the same content of the normal sd ones

The hype is that they're in High Definition ("hd").

  • Does this or the WandTV output full HD?

I get that it can decode the signal, but can you then watch it 1:1 at 1900x1080 on your display, or is it downgraded by the unit?

    • is FTA TV even broadcasted at full hd??

      • yes ABC and SBS 720p and ONE, NINE HD, 7HD 1080i

  • maybe for DAB radio they mean the radio channels you normally get with any digital tv tuner like the abc dig jazz etc? not the DAB+ where you have to get a radio for?

  • -1

got one like 2 years ago, it does not even pick up the fta stations, except sbs!!

    Buyer beware

    • Use your home antenna or buy a decent indoor digital antenna.
Those little antennas that come with all of these things is almost useless (as stated several times already)
As there is some processing needed for the signal input you DO need a computer with some grunt.
Forget it if you are trying to use grandmas celeron 500 with 64mb ram… Dont laugh.. seen it happen and they blame the stick.
      Great price, good post!!

  • picked one up to watch the world cup as i'm working a couple of saturday nights doing deployments :-)

    only need SBS!

  • Got a reply back for COTD

" Sorry for the late reply, we were waiting on a response from our supplier in regards to this question and at this point we are unable to confirm whether this item does pick up Aussie DAB stations. If we list this item again in the future we will advise in the listing. "

I still went ahead and got one to use to record shows :) still a decent price

    • yep me too, i do hope it has digital radio though.

  • Just to let everyone know I just received mine and works on DAB+ perfect picked up all stations and working great :)

    • Thanks for the update.
Does it seem to be the same item from Chinavasion?
      How's the software?

      • Yep its exactly the same one

Software looks ok records ok has PVR scheduler etc not bad for free software :)

All in all pretty happy with it for the price pretty much does everything

        • Sweet now I can't wait to get mine.
Do you use the supplied antenna or another one that's picking up all the stations?

scupper, nice find on the chinavasion site, if this is good I might get one from there. Seems to be just a tad more expensive when adding shipping costs.

          • @sublemon: I just used the antenna supplied and picked up all DAB+ station fine but for TV I only get TVS and SBS channels with the antenna but when I plug in my house antenna picks up everything

  • Device ain't bad at all, I use windows media center and it gives me a better picture than the program that came with it but can't use the radio in wmc. Have to find another program.

    • Let us know what other programs work with it as I have tried and can't find any other progs that support this USB Stick….

      • Haven't found anything :/
..I can't get dab+ to work properly, no audio or jittery audio on sbs for eg but reception seems ok. tv and fm are fine though.

  • This item appeared again as Small Fish on CoTD on 16th June 2010 for the same price and was sold out immediately.

    • Wonder how many of them "seems like a great idea" units ended up in "can't be bothered to make work" basket.

  • They work great I'm getting another for a friend of mine who wants it for DAB Radio for work :)

BTW There listed again today :)
