Forza Horizon DLC on Sale: Season Pass - $6.73, Rally Expansion Pack - $4.98, VIP Car Pack - $2.48 from Xbox.com (Download)

120

Now that Forza Horizon is free for Xbox Gold subscription members, it's time to nab some cheap DLC packs while you can.

Contents of each DLC pack paraphrased from here.

  • Season Pass - all monthly DLC car packs from October 2012 to April 2013. It also includes the Rally Expansion pack.
  • Rally Expansion pack - Entirely new mode, featuring dirt tracks and navigator (voice only). Also includes 5 new rally cars. Do not buy if Season pass was already bought.
  • VIP membership and car pack - originally a code from the Collector's Edition of the game. Aside from time-sensitive incentives, this includes 5 cars.

No Xbox Gold subscription membership required. Game and its DLC is playable on the Xbox 360 and/or Xbox One.

My review of the DLC packs -

Just get the Season Pass. It includes over 50 cars, plus the Rally Expansion pack - which I think is a great addition if Dirt is too much of a hardcore rally racing game and want something arcade-y. It's short, but justifiable for the price which the expansion itself used to go for $20.

Unless you REALLY want those 5 cars in the VIP Membership and Car Pack, I'd say skip it. Compared to the Season Pass, it's worse value for money.

    • Its only just over $2 for vip not worth gettng yes or no have just purchased the season pass.

      • No, unless you really want those cars.

  • It's so annoying to see season passes and "deluxe edition" games come in under 1 MB.. meaning everything is already built into your game and installed on your Xbox you just can't use it without paying more.

    • The Season Pass content is not built into the base game.

Rather, it's a key that unlocks access to download the individual car packs. If I recall correctly, each pack is around 60mb and the Rally expansion is 1GB.

      • Even if it was/is built in, this is a game thats been out for years. Some devs patch the content post release into the main game as opposed to making the DLC a separate download. Thats pretty common for multiplayer games in particular where you may end up playing against someone that does have the DLC, and you don't want to prevent someone racing a friend just because they have a model Ford that the other doesn't.

Certainly Forza does upsell a lot with its various launch versions, no doubt, but I wouldn't necessarily expect an multiplayer open world type game to not use the base game install as the method to push DLC either.

    • Those additions would have come in with all the patches that usually come out around the time each car pack is released.

    • Are these on xbox live? Free cars above?

      • Yep, but these are the same ones from the season pass, so there's nothing new here.

        • So was it silly me buying season pass if they are free?

        • @bwatt99:

Nope. The season pass is an excellent buy.

These cars were intended to be samplers for each car pack and you already have a stack more cars on top.

Plus, you get the rally expansion pack, which is really great fun - at a really cheap price!

will these work on xbox one? Forza Horizon is backwards compatible but links say download to 360

    • +1

      Short answer… Yes.
Once a Xbox 360 game becomes Backwards Compatible on Xbox One… all DLC will carry over to Xbox One.
If you have any probs with this, you can generally go to "my games and apps" on your Xbox One… manage the game and see that the DLC will be there to download.
      Hope that helps.
      Cheers

      • thanks heaps

  • I was going to download this but says i cant do payment and need to pay other method yet i jist did orhers and it was done with paypal?
