  • Can I change my current telechoice 20 24 month contract to any of these?
I mean I have used telechoice for almost 3 years….

    • Hi lostcm,

You sure can. Just send us a message through the live chat on our website and we'll talk you through your options

      • OK, thanks

Seems like a better deal for now - do the 5gb plan for 3 months then move on to another provider? Its @ $10pm for 3 months which is fantastic!

    • Prepaid vs Postpaid?

      • why would that make any difference?

        • This deal isn't going anywhere anytime soon so you can always switch to us after the 3 months :p

Finally. Was looking to port out before but now you have retained this customer!

  • Hmm, $5 cheaper than the ALDI L option… but ALDI have unlimited everything, 100 mins international and same 2GB data but allows rollover… Dunno how to weigh up the $5 difference now.

    • 100 mins international are not enough in my case. I use more minutes calling overseas than here in Australia.

  • Isn't the Jeenee plan a better deal?

2GB Data, 400 mins Talk, Unlimited SMS, $18/M plus $10 setup fee, Optus 4G network:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250708

    • Not telstra though.

      • You are right. I am with Telstra, all others in family are with Optus, can't really tell the difference in big city, except I enjoyed a few outages…

    • +1

      No international calls

  • For those that are looking at these plans because they include overseas calls, check Telechoice rates for the countries you will be calling as they look a lot more for the ones I looked at compared to TPG international rates for their mobile plans. YMMV.

  • Hi Rep,
Interested in porting over to TC , but heard you don't have an app to track usage, is that true ?

    • +1

      Hi poppii,

We don't have an app however you can easily check your usage by dialing *159#. Usage will appear instantly on the screen (and usage metering is in real time :))

  • Rep I have 5 mobile numbers with telechoice can you please confirm if existing customers will automatically get the data upgrades and will telechoice mail 4g sim cards to existing customers ?

    • Hi cozmerklsenberg,

While we are trying to ensure all of our customers know about and are assisted in moving to these new plans, I would recommend you get in touch with us and initiate the move yourself (by contacting us through our live chat on our website). This will fast track the process.

I have been with Telechoice for just few days on the LIVE 19 plan. It happens that sometimes, friends can't call me at first, i just get a "you missed a call from …" SMS and they have to keep trying to connect me. Does this happen to others as well? Or anyidea why this is happening?

    • I used to have the same issues when I was on Telechoice not too long ago, so I ported out to Vaya on the: $20/no contract, Unlimited calls - 1.5GB, Optus 4G plan and haven't had the same issues since.

Was thinking of coming back to Telechoice since they have 4G now but it looks like these annoying issues still exist.

What handset are you using? I was on a Oneplus One and the missus was on a S3, we both had the same problem, daily.
I always assumed it was a reception problem.

      • yeah that's frustrating but at least good to hear that im not alone. I'm on a Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro. Had a quick look on the Vaya website and it says they're using Optus 4G?

Good thing i like about Telechoice is, they include international calls in their credit as well; and that's the whole reason i went for Telechoice. How does that apply to Vaya?

        • Hi kiLbiL and Millzy,

This isn't an issue we hear about much, but it may be either to do with reception or compatability of the handset. It's hard for me to say without troubleshooting more, but if you shoot me an email to [email protected] i'm happy to investigate further.

My quick fix suggestion would be to switch back to 3G and see if this fixes the issue.

  • How long can I wait to activate the sim once I have it at home? Let's say, can I activate after 2 weeks of arriving? Just trying to manage billing time vs TPG.

    • +1

      Hi Colombian,

We don't have any particular time frame within which you need to activate it. We might call you in a couple of weeks, but the choice of when is up to you :)

  • Hi rep,
I was looking at the live $29 plan here https://www.telechoice.com.au/sim-plans/plan-page/29-live-pl… and it mentions " nil charged as excess" but when I click on the list of countries, it takes me back to the same page. Does this mean that the we can make unlimited international calls to countries listed on this plan? If yes, can you pleas provide the link with the list of countries.

    • +1

It is supposed to be written like: Nil. Charged as excess. All unlimited standard calls plans usually don't have international calls included unless stated otherwise. When they include international calls is usually in the form of minutes eg: 90 mins, 300 mins etc.

      • Cool thanks

        • Hi Titanor,

Yes, Colombian is correct - that plan does not have inclusions for international calls. If you wanted a plan with international calls, I would have a look at our $28 LIVE plan (that has $1000 which you can use for national and international calls)

  • tried to update 3 phone numbers currently on $20 live plan but wouldn't do it without charging termination fee even though
I've only got a month to go on 2 year contract

    • Hi Scottmacka88,

This is correct - we cannot move you from a contracted plan to a no contracted plan without breaking the contract. We do have other options, but given that you only have a month left (and we normally do plan changes at the end of your billing cycle), I would advise just setting this up on the last couple days of your contract.

  • +1

niiice, I'll be switching the missus and myself over to the $20 live plan when our discount expires on the TPG plan.

  • Is the data charged per kb or mb?

    • Hi ttchoppa4eva,

Data is charged per kb :)

    • beat me to it

  • Signed for two new SIM cards for $20 plan - porting out from Vaya as this plan includes internationa calling plus more data and on Telstra :)

During the process, I found that you have to call their customer service for everything - adding second service to same account (Vaya has this facility on their website), Activate your SIM (really but yeah you cant do online)…

Seems Telechoice should update their website for customers so that we can do more online rather waiting over phone…

Plan is very nice and on Telstra - hopefully will be a good move..

    • +1

      Hi MyLoginName,

Yes, at this stage our website unfortunately doesn't have the capability to add to two new services on the one account (we can set them up on seperate accounts, but nobody wants that!). This is definitely on our priority list of things to upgrade.

Once you get the SIM and you've activated your service everything is pretty straight forward - you can manage your service yourself with the tools we provide without contacting our guys in customer service.

Thanks for the feedback though :)

      • How do we know if the SIM cards have been shipped or not? do you send any confirmation email so that we can track?

        • Hi MyLoginName,

We send our SIMs by regular mail, so they do not have a tracking ID. Once you have completed the application you should get a notification (either at the end of the application or via email) that your SIM will be with you in 3 - 5 days.

If you would like us to follow up on the delivery of your SIM, please email [email protected] :)

        • @TeleChoice:
Thanks TeleChoice, received and activated sim already:
My number was ported in just 10 minuets , brilliant :)

  • I am interesting about the $20 plan with 2gb data. but the call rate is a deal breaker to me. 99c/m + 40c connection. $500 won't last very long.

  • Recently downgraded to the new $18 plan. Any way to upgrading to the new $20 without be penalised for breaking contract?

    • Hi Anthoneeyz,

You can't change from the $18 plan (a 12 month plan) to a $20 plan (a no lock-in plan), however you should be able to move to the $19 plan (same as the $20, just over 12 months). Please email [email protected] an we'll help you out :)

  • Hey rep, just activated my sim online (transfer from Telstra). How long does the activation usually take? Thanks!

    • My one was in 10 minutes time ..

      • Hi Kheob,

I imagine it would've happened by now! Porting usually occurs in under an hour :)

        • Hi TeleChoice. It still hasn't activated and it's been 24 hours. It says 'preactive' in my account. Tried calling but the machine said they were unavailable.

Edit: Just contacted the live chat and the CS rep got it activated within 10 minutes :)

  • Hi,what do I need to bring if I go to one of your stores to port out my numbers to your service?

    • Hi Neoika,

Just bring with you some ID (Drivers licence/Passport + Medicare card) and a bill from the provider you are porting our from (so we can grab the account number needed for porting).

  • +1

Good deal. Signed up. Thanks to OzB and TeleChoice.

  • I'm with Telechoice now, all good, now the fight against TPG starts….

  • Very happy with TeleChoice so far, better coverage and International calls are of better quality, with TPG calls had a little delay, it doesn't happen with TeleChoice.

  • I am looking to port in few numbers to Telechoice but bit holding back as they use the same Telstra wholesale network like Aldi and woolworths and it's congested a lot of time.

There is another choice is Boost which uses Telstra retail network which is same as telstra uses for their own customer. But $30 with unlimited talk text with 7gb data in total for each weekend 1gb dedicated.
