XBOX One 500GB Console $269 @ Target Starts Thursday

1790

A clearance on the now old XB1 500GB consoles starting this Thursday and ending this Saturday. Stock will only be in store (no stock online). It will only be on the standalone console (so not 500GB Kinect skus etc).

Good deal for those without 4K TV's or who aren't waiting for the Scorpio to launch. Also for those that may have missed out on Big W's $299 deal during their big toy sale in June.

  • What's included in this pack, 1 standard controller and 1 game (select 1 from 4 options) ?

    • Just the console, one controller etc. No games unfortunately.

This popped up via Google news.. I had no idea OzBargain was a news source.

Don't you just hate it when you check back on a comment to see if you got upvotes or negs and the original commentator gets done for a personal attack :(

He/she got -27 votes. I think that says a lot.

  • Can anyone confirm whether the xbox one can run Foxtel Go? From what I can tell there is a foxtel play app available but I'm not seeing much for Foxtel Go, which I assume means no.

    • I thought Foxtel Go was purely for mobile devices? E.g. Android/iOS.

      • Also runs on Mac Os and Windows 10. Currently running it on my minipc connected to the TV as media player primarily. Would like a more powerful replacement that can play the occasional game but I think the lack of Foxtel Go support and easy browsing availability means I cant justify the coin to the other half. Great deal still.

  • I cant decide between this and the JB Hifi deal https://www.jbhifi.com.au/features/games/Bundles/xbox-one-ho…

Xbox One S 500GB with Halo collection and free 4k movie for $399.

    • $130 gets you:
      - 4K support
      - 4K bluray player
      - Game
      - Slimmer console and inbuilt PSU.
      - Better controller.

If you have a 4K TV and can get 4K blurays, it's worth it. Otherwise, get this.

      • Well i dont have a 4k tv right now…but owning a xbox s will help get the business case across the wife easier i reckon in the future :)

    • Same deal from BigW starting tomorrow only $388.

  • I never own any latest gen console, and my internet is not unlimited, so u guys reckon all updates will be big, and I cannot skip them? whether my 150gb monthly limit won't be enough?

    • +1

When you first boot up the console, you'll need to download the mandatory update, where you can't skip it. At all. (Trust me, I've tried)

However, you can turn disconnect the console from the internet and run disc games just fine (albeit without patches which may fix the game). Going through this route will be fine for your 150GB limit.

If you want to play downloaded games however, that will easily kill the monthly limit (depends if you want to download several games during the month) as some games' size can go up to 90GB (Halo: Master Chief Collection for example) with most games' size common range being 4GB - 25GB.

      • Thx for that, maybe i just get a used xb360 or ps3 instead, that will be a cheaper and safer option. Bet those older gen consoles won't require leg or arm size of internet updates?

        • Bet those older gen consoles won't require leg or arm size of internet updates?

Yep. They will still have updates, but not as big as Xbox One's or PS4's.

Only games released in ~2014 and later MAY have an update and the biggest I've had was 1GB - which was the only one out of the 109 Xbox 360 games I own to have such a size.

In short, get an Xbox 360 or PS3. 95% of games work fine without a downloaded update. Plus, games are cheap and plentiful, along with many great quality titles to cherry-pick from.

      • So downloading Halo will basically use up 1/5th of its storage space?

        • Yep, pretty much.

Remember that no hard drive will have the exact amount as advertised on the box, meaning you'll get less storage thanks to system use.

If I remembered correctly, you'll actually have about 475GB of usable space for the Xbox One.

        • @silverrat23: Nope, 500GB platter turns to 465GB under windows. Also apparently Xbone takes insane amounts for OS, leaving 360GB free.

  • this is good value, enough said.

  • Deals like this keep coming, yet Nintendo are still charging over $400 for the EOL WiiU. Sad really.

  • Good thread. Had a spare hour and was in need of a laugh. Cheers

  • Any staff know what the stock levels are like around Brisbane? Not sure I want to waste a day searching for one of these tomorrow.

  • Any equivalent PS4 deals? I like the price but not necessarily the console (always been a PS fan)

    • Slim model to be announced tonight. So I expect PS bargains soon.

      • Good stuff.

  • +1

Apparently this is the same price ($269) at Big W on Friday/Saturday/Sunday - guy in the store also said that guitar hero would be $68 and battleborn $25 from tomorrow.

    • Anyone purchased a Bigw one can confirm this?

      • The Big W deal was posted yesterday…

  • Got one on hold currently scans for $320 we will see tomorrow

Thanks op grabbed it today $269

    Is this advertised anywhere?
Went to Target yesterday and there were none already.
    Only 1TB and 2TB available.

If it is advertised for in store, can price match.

  • Having called last night I was told there was no stock of these at Bondi Junction or Eastgardens. Hopefully that saves someone an unnecessary trip.

    • +1

Plot twist; micase found out both of these stores have stock and hoping no other OzBargainer will go now.

    • I got the second last one they had in Tuggeranong, then went straight to Big W for cheap games. Guy in Big W said they will be running the deal as of tomorrow, but only had one left.

Stories like this is why I love ozbargain.

      • Very True. The moment from such a top deal from ozbargain and able to make your wife and kids happy, PRICELESS !!!
Happy wife, happy life and together with happy kids, happy life X 2 !!!

    • PT: Plug it in and download the mandatory updates before his birthday if you can. Perhaps the night before?

From what I've seen, it's 1.6gb just to set up the console, then anywhere between 5-15gb for each game. Although, the games don't HAVE to be updated unless you want to play online.
