Jamie Oliver 24/28cm Hard Anodised Frypan $99 @ Myer (Induction)

60

Saw this whilst looking for some other pans and thought it was pretty decent, despite not having an induction cook top.
Both sizes are available for the same price.
The pan had a sticker of $240 rrp or something very similar, and they look (and are described) very similarly to the other pans on the website that are going for $200+.

It's just a rebranded Teefal which can be had for a lot less.

    • This… And our Myer sources Tefal's from a previous sale lasted 6 months :(

      • I've used the cheaper $30 tefal which we got about a year or so out of, so I assumed these would be a bit better quality.
I think using it on high heat can damage it a fair bit fwiw

  • How does it compare with the range at IKEA?

Same, all non stick pans are rubbish. The warranty voids as soon as you get them hot enough to cook anything. If you try to return for warranty, they say you heated it too much - kind of pointless for something that is meant to stir fry (lots of heat needed). Just get a quality steel one and do the correct treatment.

    • I have an IKEA pan which I bought to replace my Jamie Oliver pan, and it is much hardier and I'm not stressed about the kids using it and keeping it perfect. Although I used to tell people I was bathing Jamie when I was washing his pan😝

  • Would never go back to so called non stick pans again, After using De Buyer.

    • Cheapest source of this brand?

      • Essential Ingredient sells de buyer …… they are good …… but all non stick have the same problem they loose their stickiness over time ….. you aren't supposed to use a spray oils on them if you read the fine prints from their websites just normal oil etc …… I tried to make a claim on another brand of non-stick pan as it said life time warranty and I'm still alive ….. answer was expected life time of the pan with normal use which they said was abou 5 years ….. you need a mixture of cookware I use non stick for eggs and fish which can take low heat and stainless for steaks which needs high heat.

I personally am keeping well away from these non stick surfaces. They wear out over time and end up in your GI tract. Stainless steel for me.

Plenty of good reputable branded stainless steel pans such as Scanpan and Fissler.

many surgical implants are are made from the same stuff as non stick pans …. they are very inert and that is what makes them non stick. the problems used to be gasses given off when initially heated and even that dissipates after the first cooking session

  • When there's money involved, sometimes ethics go out the window.
