The Japan sims say 8/15 days on the website, just checking is it 8/15 or 7/14?

    • Hey mate, sorry about that. Put the old dates in the description. Edited now, it is definitely 8 and 15! Thanks.

      • Hi OP, if I arrived Japan on evening of 4/11 and returning on 12/11 would the 8 day card be sufficient the whole period ?

        • Pretty sure it lasts for 8 days from time of activation. So if you activated on the 4th at 6pm it will expire at 6pm on the 12th.

Not sure if it's an exactly science always, might get a few extra hours or a couple short changed.

        • @TravelSIMSDirect:
Hi OP, if I arrive in Japan evening 28/10, can I activate on 29/10 instead so my 15 days can last up till 12/11? Should I put in 29/10 as arrival date when purchasing from your website?

        • @plain_biscuit: Hey mate, I'd suggest to out the 29th. Though we are running very low on sims for that period. Happy for you to purchase, but is it ok if we ship out in 3 weeks time or so with a new bunch of sims?
          Thanks!

        • @TravelSIMSDirect:
Ok, I'll put in arrival date as 29/10. If you ship in 3 weeks time I'm ok, but the "or so" comment kinda worries me that you may not get your new batch in time. I'll purchase one now if you still have one ready to post?

        • @plain_biscuit: No I can guarantee it will be safely before you depart. We never miss that time frame. We have some left for earlier dates but that border cut off date has been extremely popular.

If you're not comfortable, you're welcome to PM me in a couple of weeks or so and will honour the deal then? Up to you :)

        • @TravelSIMSDirect: Ok great I'll PM you in a couple of weeks for this same deal. Hopefully you have new batch by then. Cheers.

        • @plain_biscuit: Done deal! :)

  • Previous US deal was better - are you able to match that to $15 off?

    • Hey mate, would love to but can't at the moment - because of supply increases in costs and a few other variables causing extra overheads out of our control.
It will likely be the last time we do the DoCoMo at 25% off as well, as that is increasing as of this weekend too!

  • Hi Rep - do you have the Docomo ones avail, but with a longer activation date? Need them early next year.

    • Hey mate, not now. DoCoMo limit how far ahead anyone can have these active sims, we will likely get your dates covered 2-3 months before you leave, sorry!

      • Sweet, i'll keep an eye out.

  • Hi rep, first trip to japan, is it selfactivate for docomo? just put in your phone and ready to use?

    • That's it, just wait until you land to insert and upon first use it will activate!

      • ok thanks :)

  • Hi Rep, what is the max speed of the 3g network after 200mb on the JP Sims? Notice some networks limit to 200kbps

    Cheers!

    • I was getting an average of 3mbps

    • Whoops I left that in from the old deal, it is now "unlimited 4G data".

But in reality our users have had varying 4G speeds, some have consistently had slow 4G and others report ridiculously fast speeds all trip.

In reality, a good expectation is a good decent speed for your trip.

  • If I purchase today, can I get it by Friday?

  • Rep,

DoCoMo sim needs to be activated by November 30th 2016: "Unlimited Data for 7, 14 or 30 Days (7/14/30 Days begins after first use)"

Just confirming this means we can activate the card, but the 7/14/30 days doesnt start until I begin using it early next year in Japan?

  • how long for delivery?

  • Hey rep, what's the deal with the T-Mobile unlimited 4G - I'm assuming you'll be shaped after a certain daily limit? Sorry couldn't find the info on your website

  • +3

I would not recommend anyone purchase from these guys, they ripped me off only a few months ago.
I purchased one of those 14 days unlimited use travel sims and never received it.
After emailing them 3 times, i got a reply advising that another sim has been shipped additional times.
I found it odd that sim cards can go missing multiple times so asked for some sort of tracking as proof of delivery.
This was when the they stopped replying to my emails. 4 emails later, i still have no response and out of pocket 54 dollars.

Anyone looking at purchasing these sims should read the reviews others have left and avoid this service like the plague
    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/travelsim.html?rating=1#re…
Even if you do receive the product, most users experience very slow to no signal.

I personally believe TravelSIMSDirect should be banned from listing deals on Ozbargain.

    • +2

Just so you know we have serviced thousands of ozbargainers and there is a reason why 99% love us. I don't know why AusPost would lose multiple times, but we know we have ridiculous issues with customers who insist delivery to large office complexes with many floors and companies.

And that product review is for another company :/

EDIT: With that said PM us and we will track everything back and sort it out!

      • PM sent.

        • Thanks.
EDIT: Thanks for the info. Because you ordered 7 months ahead (and against the ozB limit - we waited for sims for your activation date) and possibly updated postal address in the meantime, which may account for "lost mail".
Alls well that ends well, we understand miscommunications and your sim will be with you before your trip still (at no extra cost to you)! :)

        • +1

@TravelSIMSDirect: Yep, sorted things out as we speak. So far so good, thanks!!

        • @huey: No worries mate!

  • +2

    Hi OP,

I had a US trip last year and the both sims didn't work.
I DM'd back but didn't receive any response.

Are you able to follow up on this?
I also have a trip booked for Japan

    Thanks

    • +1

Sure, DM me? As a sorry we will take care of you for your Japan trip :)

      When is your Japan trip?

      • DM sent,

        thanks

  • T MOBILE SIM IS $30USD from them, i got one recently.

    https://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-international-to…

    • They're 21 days only and come with only 2GB of 4G data. This might be a good option for some, but if you want more 4G data or are away for more than 3 weeks the other SIMs are a better fit.

  • +1

Friends I went to Japan with got a sim with these guys earlier on in the year, the sim never arrived and customer service was horrible, no response whatsoever so they lost their money. I almost got one too but missed the deal and ended up getting a pocket wifi instead, blessing in disguise!

    • Which pocket wifi did you end up getting? I'm also interested in a solid pocket wifi option for Japan

      • I went with Global Advanced Communications, really happy with my choice, faultless.

    • Hey mate, sorry to hear that. We did briefly have email server issues but from what I have been told got back to anyone and everyone. No one should or will every lose money with us - PM us details or get your friend to msg us on facebook and we will sort it out, no problems.

Look back at our OzB reviews, even if we may have failed your friend (which we are very sorry), our pride is our ethics - usually we don't just refund but either (especially to the nicest of customers) provide refund plus extra funds to either get alternate arrangements or just as a sorry!

But high majority next have an issue and just enjoy the sims!

      • I too have a friend who purchased from you but has not received their sim for month or 2 now. He has not heard back from TSD, how should he follow up?

  • $16.95 for shipping? Considering they come in an envelope, that's pretty steep :/

    • Mine showed that on the initial checkout page, but I was charged less than $2 total for normal postage for multiple cards.

  • I bought their SIM card for my trip last month and I was quite disappointed. Be aware of the speeds that you get with the Docomo 4G. I could not achieve anywhere better than 0.6mbps down with their SIM card. Didn't help that their response time over 2 weeks. I'm going back again next month but I wont be using them again.

    • Sorry to hear about your experience mate, I know DoCoMo has been in the high 3G range lately for a lot of customers (reaching 4G traditional speeds has been hard). Hope we can make it up to you one day, maybe we a complimentary sim for a USA or something you haven't tried before!

      • What bothered me was that I borrowed my local friend's DoCoMo SIM card right after and I managed to get 4G speeds no problem.

I don't visit the states regularly enough unfortunately. However, I'm travelling again to Japan for a few days next month and if you guys want to send me another SIM to try, I'll be happy to give it another go. And if it works as advertised, you may have won yourself a regular customer who travel multiple times a year to Japan.

        • So both SIM cards were DoCoMo and in the same device, but one slow and one faster? ? What device did you use?
          Thanks for the information.

        • @hamwhisperer: Yeah, it was a bit strange. Sony Z5 Premium, E6853 I think, off the top of my head.

  • Hi there, I'm leaving for Japan at 30th Sep, would the sim arrive on time?

    • Regular post, depends where you are in Aus. We are in Melbourne.

With express post you will get it in time no matter how remote!

  • Hi there, I'm also leaving for Japan at 30th Sep, would the sim arrive on time?

    • Please see above:)

      • Hi there, I'm also leaving for Japan at 30th Sep, but instead of 30th Sep 9th Oct, would the sim arrive on time?

  • DoCoMo Japan Data SIM Cards: Apply Code "25japansan"
Prices now are (with $1.95 regular postage as well)

    I get Shipping = $16.95 for 2 SIMs?

Can rep confirm cost of shipping 2 SIMs?

    • That's our international express post rate, there is regular and express post options for Aus as well at checkout.

      • +1

        Thanks, ordered 2 SIMs

  • I'm going to Japan 2 weeks in Feb. Are these worth it? Or just buy when I'm there. $45 seems a little heavy… it's not like I'm going to be youtubing. I just need something like 1GB of internet for LINE chat.

    • Buy from vending machine at airport when you arrive.

      • How much and what do you get?

iijmio travel sim, was 3000 JPY (about $35) for the 2gb and it comes with access card for free wifi spots around japan

        • @Yamai: Is that only a single GB for 30 days? That's kind of terrible for Japan, surely their networks are quite powerful and full of lots of data for most accounts?

There's been 2 SIM sellers on OzB in the past week offering (apparent) unlimiited accounts for 7 or 15 days……. I assume there is in fact a limit but unlimited would surely be over 1GB before the AUP and slow you down?

Have purchased many times from TSD, no issues with receiving sims. T-mobile sims in Hawaii worked a treat late last year, was using a Samsung S6 and another in an iphone6s. Both had decent 4G coverage.
Just purchased another with this deal for an upcoming Japan trip. Total $46.95 for the 15 day + postage fees
    Thanks again TSD

    • Pleasure :) Hope you have a great trip!

  • +1

Thanks TSD, was going to message you about getting another deal going for our November trip so great timing!

  • Can you extend this deal for December? Am going to Japan on 17th December so need the docomo 15 day sim for December.

    • We will closer to December, these cards come in batches of expiry dates (which is one of many unique Japanese things), so likely next month we will get cards covering your dates and could!

  • I got a sim from TSD for Japan , unfortunately I got crap ass speeds (below 1mbps), communication with TSD was mostly good. I'd recommend pocket WiFi if you want to surf a lot but if you're just using it for google maps and travelling solo, then I think it's fine.

  • Hello TSD,

I am writing about the order, I have not received.
Would be great if I could get a respond through your customer service email on your website. I am not happy with not getting a respond of my order. The order have been a month and half ago.
I have put a dispute payment through PayPal, last week. Would like my refund. Given up on the order after sending couple of emails and didn't receive a respond.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon

    Victor

    • Hey Victor,

Sorry about all that. It is becoming very clear to us our contact box is not delivering all mail to us!

Wordpress has been a bad experience for us, not to mention our developer did a hit and run. This is the nail in the coffin and we will upgrade asap. Can you please contact us on facebook from now on? That will ensure we get the messages.

We can package and dispatch your sim with a valid card for you date today! Hope that is enough for you.

      Thanks and sorry!

EDIT: Our records show we did dispatch originally - likely lost mail and we didn't get the emails :(

    • Victor,
Our records show we sent out 2 sims. Can you please PM us with confirmation of the safest and most reliable residental address to sent another SIM to.
Our records show a apartment complex it was sent to. Potentially issue with ordering to that complex?
      Thanks.

    The laws in Japan changed.
You can now buy prepaid SIM card at the airport. About $31 for 15 days.
    Significantly cheaper than this deal!

    • How long ago was that? Have you done it - any more information?
I'm hoping to use the NTT DoCoMo network with a NetGear 785S modem / hotspot.
      https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers/ntt-docomo-japan

      • I haven't done it personally but my son, who frequently travels to Japan, has done it several times. I think he prefers some other network to DoCoMo though.

        • You wouldn't happen to know which one would you?

        • @hamwhisperer:
You can pre-order and get it delivered to airpot post office

          http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/

He said you can buy it at the airport too but need to activate it then, and he doesn't know what this process involves. So, easier to preorder.

  • Hi, I purchased the 15 day docomo sim but on your website it says that my order was cancelled but my Paypal payment went through (confirmed as I have the receipt) could u confirm it's gone through?

    • Hi, sure. Can you please PM us with your full name and time of transaction and will follow up! Thanks.

  • Does anyone know if the NTT DoCoMo network will work with a Telstra (unlocked) Netgear 785S hotspot?
    https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers/ntt-docomo-japan
    http://www.netgear.com.au/service-providers/products/mobile/…
    ?

Also how 'unlimited' is unlimited? I'll be using it with 3 icloud devices that will want to do all kinds of ridiculous apple icloud uploads of video and pictures, data could really add up.

  • Can buy 14 days unlimited data for approx. A$31
    http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/

  • Code is working for me :)
Last time I went to Japan, it worked perfectly

  • I ordered and havent received mine. Can you please follow that up for me? Thanks.
