Jetstar Melbourne to Singapore Launch (Direct Flight) Sale, $99 One Way from 5-7 Pm Today Only

202

Let's hope Jetstar will do a better job than AirAsia. If it doesn't go well, blame Bruce Buchanan as he announced it in Singapore. Don't shoot the messenger…

Jetstar has announced its first long-haul service from Singapore - a daily direct flight to Melbourne, Australia, commencing December 16.

Launch fares start from A$99 one-way and go on sale for two hours - from 5pm to 7pm Australian EST, today, June 9, followed by a second promotion from 5am to 5pm Thursday at $249.

  • Hurray! I'm going to be a big fan of this route.

Sale fares are for travel 18 January - 23 March 2011, limited availability during Chinese New Year and school holidays. Sale fares are one way and are available on selected days and flights only, subject to availability.

    • If you just want a connecting route to Asia hub, AA is still better because LCCT got much lower airport tax than Changi Airport.

      • You do know AA use the same terminal as JQ/QF/BA/JL in singapore?

        • I think samehada is referring to the KL LCCT as an Asian hub to other destinations eg. SGN, DEL etc.

  • Great Post, however you may want to change the post title, Change SIngopare to Singapore :)

    • Thanks for picking that up.

  • why is there never one for sydney sigh

    • We need another airport besides Kingsford Smith in Syd.

      • I agree, Sydney desperately need second airport to counter tax and fee rip off done by MacQuarie investment (Sydney Kingsford Smith owned by these @$$hole private company).

        • shouldn't be too long for sydney now. AA got approval from sydney already. we're just waiting for the malaysian to approve.

  • Any idea of flight dates? cheers

  • It says, commencing December 16. Hopefully, it last until at least Feb.

    • That's what I'm thinking. Dec 16 to Chinese new year week.

  • Sorry, double post…

  • +1

    Awesome, I love SIngopare!!

  • I doubt Jetstar will be generous enough to offer the $99 seats in Dec/Jan.

    • That's generally not considered peak or holiday season for Asian countries. I guess we shall see.

      • Yup, its not peak. Generally, JetStar offers sale over the CNY period as well.
You have to remember that this is JetStar, not JetStar Asia.
        They are kinda separate companies.

Let's just hope for the best.

It doesn't mention Singapore back to Melbourne though.

  • It is noted from the link : " Flights are still subject to regulatory approval."
    Please clarify

    • Means just that. The flights are still subject to approval from the releant authorities. Having said that though, this is Melbourne and Changi/Singapore we are talking about, they pretty much guarantee that this flight will take place. Its not like Japan/Korea or even NSW where the authorities have been known not to give approval.

  • The new service will definitely improve flying experience for the passengers.

  • lolz, the website is freezing :D

    • yeah I can't get past the first page.

      • Managed to see the rates, but can't get through to the confirmation page.

The $99 is tax inclusive though.

I'm tempted to neg on the following grounds…

Why do these companies keep promoting these time-limited offers if their servers can't handle it? Doesn't it just piss off more customers than it gains? I know I'm pissed off after trying for the past 3/4 of an hour and not getting anywhere at all.

EDIT: That's it I'm negging. I can't get past the first page - even if I did I wouldn't be able to get past the next page either.

Mods you can remove my neg if you want, but consider this…
These time based promotions kind of go against the whole ozbargain principle. ie. first in best dressed and keeping an ear to the ground etc. With these kinds of promotions, it will always be the people with the best Internet connections that get the deal. Jetstar, I want my hour back!

  • As expected, can't even search flights..

  • :( so sad :( tried 3 browsers at the same time but couldn't get through it

  • To those who neg, It's a 2-hour sale, what do you expect. I think most of us already know that the server will crash.
You just have to keep trying.

It's AUD249 tomorrow anyway, which is still really cheap.
Be sure to try at 5am.

  • tried three times. got to the flights then it timed out and then when i go back it's gone! damn! also, only $210 return, incl 20kg luggage. good luck. dates for jan are pretty much gone.

  • Scored return flights for 6 people on 2 seperate occasions…… Sooooo cheap!
But once again a slow website!!!

For those people complaining about the servers, think about it more servers = more money = higher fares…

    • Scored 2 tickets as well! Cheap cheap! :)

    • Exactly…it's just like a brick and motar shop, it can only fit so many people. Do businesses need to buy a mega store just for a few sale to avoid a fraction of customers from whinging?

  • ALSO use your mobile phone/iphone to book, not as much congestion..

  • Also, when is this sale at 5am? Is it $249AUD return, or one way? I will probably wake up at 5am if it is $250 return.

    • On now… 5pm-7pm and $99 each way.

  • One whole hour - a waste of time. Got the flight I wanted but the server crashed during the payment screen!! Refreshed and Back button did not work! Damnnnn!!!

  • I was referring to this post:

So is there another sale tomorrow?

    • +1

Yes, from 5am tomorrow the flights will be on "sale" again for $249 each way. Not really much of a sale in my opinion so get them now if you can while its still $99.

  • Got two tickets! Awesome deal!!!!!!!!!!!!
