I miss the more enticing Amaysim deals from earlier this year.

I get deals and all but do people seriously jump phone provider every month to save $5, the hassle and downtime surely aren't worth it.

Yes indeed. I have dual SIM phone. So main number Sim stays there for longer. And second Sim, I keep porting them every month. No hassle, porting takes 1 day max for me. And this way I spend $50 in a year for 3-6gig data a month, unlimited local calls & texts and international calls depends on Sim provider.

It's not that much of a hassle. It takes at most 5 minutes once a month after midnight, and then I go to sleep. The new service is up and running when I wake up.

I've been switching between Optus/Telstra $30 starter packs. It used to be much better since with Telstra ones, you could potentially be profitting for the service but since the removal of the credit for Google Stores feature, it's still not bad. Optus ones are better since you get unlimited calls and 3GB data throughout the day whereas Telstra it's about 10 hours worth of calls and 1.5GB daytime/1.5GB nighttime (and nighttime data is useless to me because I'm usually home after 8 PM anyway). I think I paid at most $15 for the Telstra ones and $10 for the Optus ones, so I pay at most $12.50 a month (the real figure would be closer to $10).

My savings aren't that great compared to pyramid's but a saving of at least $5 for 5 minutes of extra work a month, it's not that bad.

      • Good. Any saving is better than nothing. I think once I run out of woolworths starter pack, my monthly mobile expense will go up…

        • I'm sure you'll be fine. There is a very good chance that there'll still be discounted starter packs throughout the year.

      • Tagging onto my own post, I just realised that the current Telstra prepaid Freedom Plus plan is not bad for data. It gives you the option to purchase data pack using the loaded credit. The best option is $10 for 1GB that expires within 7 days. Since you get $30, that means you get an extra 1GB per week for 3 weeks (which I think is a lot!). The 1.5GB daytime/nighttime data can be used for the rest of the duration of the plan (9 days).

Wow, changing plans to save $5…

  • I did ask in the forum whatever happened to the great promo's amaysim had …..they have enough customers i assume?

  • Amaysim used to charge per MB (not KB) which led to low data users getting charged for excess data charges. They were well known for it. Do they still do this?
