  • "you dont have to press like 100 times."
    Haha, so true. ;-)
I'm still waiting for the Z-5500s.

Good price too, cheapest is $121 from staticice and above $100 from eBay.
If you want to confirm the $83 price yourself, it's on page 14-15 of the Big W catalogue.

  • yeah great find. i wanted one of these, but ive lost my ipod. ill inevitably buy another ipod though soooo to buy or not to buy hmmmm

This is an INSANELY good price!!

I bought one from Tandy about a month a go for $119 and I am seriously impressed with everything to do with it.

The only thing to watch out for is that the power brick hums fairly loudly - not great when you are trying to fall asleep. It does come with a generous length of cord though so I just tuck the brick under the bed and it's fine for me (though I can sleep through reasonable noise levels anyway).

    • Thanks for the heads up on the power-buzz. I can't stand trying to fall asleep with that electric humming noise you just can't place. So I guess I won't get this after all.

  • Great! I might buy one tomorrow.

  • How much was it when logitechshop had a sale last time?

    • $99.95 if memory serves me right.

      • It was actually the Purefi anytime + g330 $99 delivered.

        • Livert, not to be mean but you seem to be really obsessed with LTS. Everytime I see them mentioned, your name is there. But thanks for clarifying this answer

Off topic: LTS banned me from posting on their facebook and twitter because of a little criticism of their practice of deleting posts by fans of their pages… how ironic

          • @sash213: I happen to know as it was one of the deals I posted quite a while ago. Curious to know your username on FB. I might be able to reverse this (I happen to be one of their admins on FB).

  • I'll press "plus" here though. ;)

This is cheap. I hope BigW can get some squeezeboxes in and 5500s . :)

owww…i dont have an ipod :( Does these work with Walkman mp3 players?

    • +2

yes, it has a 3.5mm aux input.

I bought this 2 years ago for $129 at a DSE sale for my (then) girlfriend. She loved the motion detection key illumination, the fact that you could just 'wave' your hand over it to activate snooze rather than fumble for the actual button, and that it worked with her 3rd gen nano.

I loved the dual alarm so I could wake up after she had used the shower and made me my morning milo LOL

      • +2

That's a dangerous road your treading buddy. If I don't have to do the physical act of locating the snooze button, I know i'm never going to wake up.

        • +1

Best ones are the helicopter alarm clocks you have to chase around your room to switch off or the one that springs 4 jigsaw pieces in all directions.

          • +3

@Livert: I've an alarm clock on the iPhone that requires you to do simple math to turn it off. Never knew simple math could be so difficult - at 7am in the morning and with one's eyes and brain just opening up for the day. LOL.

            • @mrhatken: I have one of them for my Windows mobile, after snoozing about 15 times it asked me 178 / 4 which is hard at that time of the morning when you can barely open your eyes.

Though with my nokia, i used to disable it in my sleep and wake up to find not only (to my knowledge) did my alarm not go off, it went missing, only to turn up under my pillow. I haven't done it since i installed G-Alarm a year ago.

A simple wave to turn it off, i doubt i'd be able to wake up with it either.

I cant imagine custom alarm clocks are that reliable on the iPhone till iOS4 (assuming you have a 3GS or 4 hardware).

              • @TrendyTim: It's free (I believe) and called "Night Stand" and it does require you leave it running (but during the night that's not a problem). It displays an "old fashioned" digital alarm clock time (with dimmer). iOS4 will no doubt make things better.

lol… i know, i am one of the heaviest sleepers ever, hence never bought one or myself.. let me clarify further.. when the second alarm went off, that signaled to the gf to come in and wake me up haha..

at my place i put a siren alarm on my mbp using irooster (alarm clock app) which is connected to logitech z5500s.. the fear of shitting off my neighbours makes me run out of bed and turn it off.. extreme i know, but i would never wake up otherwise….

      • the Dual Alarm is the main reason why I bought this today. read all the other comments about the other Logitech speakers, but none had the feature I was most after, so this was defo a bargain for me :)

  • +4

I'd be careful guys. It seems to have lots of BIG problems. Buy at own risk.

    http://store.apple.com/au/reviews/TU073X/A?mco=MTcwNjgwMzM&r…

    If you're lazy:

    • Speakers may crap out and become crackly (maybe only for the first 2-5min each time).
    • Alarm will not always work.
    • Connectors being picky.
    • Humming noise if iphone is docked.
    • Humming noise from AC adaptor.

    etc.

    • I just read through the complaints about this product - I see why Big W is trying to sell this off… seems like a very dodgy Docking station… Anyone else experience similar problems??

    • +1

I've had my Anytime for around a year now, no probs with mine, bought it from big w too.

    • spoke to my then gf today, we (now only she) have had this for 2 years, but with none of the problems you found in various reviews. maybe we got lucky. however if you do have those problems i suggest you swap it instore quicksmart. big w are good with their returns policy. this really is a terrific little unit and for this price it's a steal.

They're $98 in the new dick smith catalogue page 14

  • For those that don't know - you can go price match this at officeworks and get 5% off - so that comes to $78.45 An even better bargain!!

This is a better deal frankly

    http://www.wireless1.com.au/48hours/

  • What are some of the problems that this dock has, the only thing im concerned about is when you plugged your Iphone in it makes some kind of noise or something, from what I read. Is this true? Any solutions. Very interested in this for my Iphone.
    Thanks

  • logitech pure fi express is MUCH BETTER than this one

    • Really? :S
There is a $23 price difference too. Any reason why the express is better than this?

      • Yes, I'd like to know why too - does it have better sound? better docking?

    • I have had similar issues with the Express as people are talking about with the Anytime, such as picky docking, crackling sound and even the power plug doesn't seem to seat properly some times (any small knock will send the thing off).

I think the thing that annoyed me most about the Express was the fact there is no way I could work out how to use my own music for an alarm (I am happy to be proven wrong though). The alarm is just this annoying beeping - which wakes me up every time, but I would like a more subtle way to wake up :).

For these reasons I was tempted to get the Anytime, so I will be interested to hear what people think of it.

      • I haven't had any issues with express. But read many problems wih anywhere. For $60 you can't expect quality of a thousand dollar hifi. Express doesn't support music as alarm if you didn't know. It's not a problem just never was there to begin with…

        • I guess it is the same with any purchase, you could get a unit from a bad batch.

I was pretty sure the Express didn't support Ipod music as an alarm (although I was told before buying by logitech support that it did).

The main reason I mentioned that though was so people could realise that is an another extra feature they are getting for their $23 with the Anytime, and the comment was a disclaimer just in case it was just me that couldn't work it out on the Express :).

  • Have not tried pure-fi anywhere.. but I have the pure-fi express plus.. it sounds terrible…even for logitech standards….i would describe it as "hollow"..

if you are after better quality sound only, you can get a desktop set of logitech speakers for the same money… but then you don't get all the other fancy functions and the docking charger..

  • Any suggestions on a reasonable iPod speakers-dock-alarm for my son (these logitech ones seem to be so poor - how can they advertise them as "crystal clear sound" "premium sound")?

    • I've just purchased the pure-fi dream. Its in the myer stocktake sale at the moment for 180 down from 300 (Harvey Norman wanted 500)

      Seems great so far :-)

      • I have the Pure Fi Dream too, bought nearly 2 years ago. I love it. The sound is brilliant for such a small and cheap system.

  • logitech purefi anywhere 2

Fluidtek have anywhere 2 for $109. I think anywhere 2 is better, right?

    • The two aren't really comparable…The Anywhere 2 doesn't have a clock, but can run off battery. It really depends on what you need

  • +1

i'm almost certain that this dock had big discounts ever since the beginning. probably low 100, or bundled cheaply with some ipods. This is a good price, but not as significant as half price would lead you to believe.

  • Big W at Forest Chase Vic was sold out today when I went to look, but ended up buying what was a better option for me the TDK iWave for $69 from Kmart, just posted it!

  • My husband bought one of these from JB Hi-Fi a couple of weeks ago for $99 and has been happy with it so far - and he's pretty fussy.

  • Going to get one now !

  • Great unit I have it on my bedside table only niggly thing is when I plug in my ipad with a ipod bus cable (25 wire male to female) the ipad says unsupported by ipad, but works on Aux jack.

  • Thanks mate! Got this price matched at JB as I had a gift card. The guy couldn't believe the price :D
