OzBargain 10th Birthday Celebration - 48 Hour Sale Event This November - Inviting Retailers to Participate

OzBargain is turning a big TEN this coming November! Time flies and it felt like I had just launched this site not that long ago. To celebrate this special occasion, instead of another treasure hunt or silly competition, we decided that we should have a 48-hour sale event as a "thank you" for both our community members and valued retailers over the years.

Current plan is —

  • Format will be similar to one-day/two-days sale events such as Singles Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday & Click Frenzy.
  • Event starts at 12PM on Monday 21st November and finishes at 11:59AM on Wednesday 23rd November.
  • OzBargain will be inviting retailers to offer us some great deals. Hopefully we'll get some good offers.
  • OzBargain will be promoting & advertising this event (on other media).
  • It will be FREE for the retailers to participate.

If you work for a retailer and would like to participate, head down to the

OzBargain 10th Birthday Sale Event Page

and use the contact form to tell us how would you like to participate, or email us at [email protected]. If you know someone who works at a retailer, please feel free to tell them about the event.

Wow OzBargain is getting old and jv's having a midlife crisis!

Not sure why retailers would participate, can't they do that everyday?

    • +1

Increased traffic since it's a big event

Similar to COTD Frenzy B'Day Deals etc.

      • Agree. Ozbargain becomes more influential now to have our own OzFrenzy:)

  • +2

    Any bargains?…

    :P

    • Think jv was waiting for this thread to make that as his 40000th comment.

  • +1

Also what is dateacheapo and why is it cancelled? just the kind of site I need!

  • Great idea. Happy Birthday!

  • +1

It will be interesting to see which retailers jump on board and if it'll be better than the click frenzy's.

  • +1

Maybe Mobileciti will give us %20 OFF on their stock, I'll be in the market then for a phone upgrade.

  • Nice

  • +5

Sounds good but please let them be proper bargains before publishing the deals

  • +3

I just hope they don't Increase prices beforehand XD

  • Wow I don't remember reading that first blog post before. So cool that the idea and vision was there from the start.

  • I'm looking for a good 40" TV please… would jump on the Sony / JB Hifi $300 off deal, but it's too big!! :(

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/239272

    • +1

get bunnings to put out some cordless ryobi tools. awhile back when we smashed those 5v ONE+ batteries in that $99 blower kit deal, we got all these batteries and nothing to use them with!

    • +2

20% off sitewide eBay and get them to leak it deliberately so someone can post it as 'Unconfirmed'

      • +4

First thing they ask you when you deal with eBay — sign an NDA…

      • Ditto eBay 20% off site wide

    • +1

      Harvey Norman Professionals exclusive deal.

    • +3

Definitely bunnings, if not then mitre 10.
A good gaming / console / computer part shop would be nice.
10% off Coles / woolworths gift cards from someone who usually sells them like cashrewards.
Ebay would be good too, but seriously aren't we all sick of ebay deals now? Would need to be sitewide 20% off to make us excited

    • +1
      • Trusted cdkey or game stores
      • PC retailers in Brisbane - Umart, Computer Alliance, Gamedude (God forbid). Would have said PCCG but their shipping cost is a killer, Scorptec or Mwave maybe ?
      • Ebay 15-20% off or 10% Colesworth GC as tassieeagle said
      • phone deals probably will be popular too
    • Dick smith/kogan or Apple

to all the laptop/PC sellers, we NEED a deal for something under $1K delivered with:

discrete graphics GPU 3gb or 4gb
    16gb ram
    1080p
i5 quad core or i7 quad core
    SSD
    15.6 inch and/or 17.3 inch screen.
Includes windows 10 (or is upgradeable).

There was an Amazon.com that had something like the above about 40 days ago for about $850 delivered
Ozbargain and we've been drooling awaiting something else similar.
If you're out there, help us out and you will sell them out.

    Thanks Scotty!

  • +1

Blue Nile please! Women are so expensive :(

    • my future mrs just cost me $13k :(

      • Ouch! That said, a good woman is worth her weight in gold.

  • AEDT ??

    • +1

      Yes AEDT.

  • 3 days? Crap I better get moving.

    • Any chance of negotiate a deal on Xiaomi Mi Box 3S? 😊

      • +1

Yep. I'll have to check on stock too.

      • Seems to be China exclusive for the time being so I don't think it'll have Netflix 4K like the US version currently has.

        • @O O: That's the original 3 that has been replaced by the 3S.

        • @Clear: Do you think the 3s firmware will be updated to include Netflix 4K someday, I mean officially.

  • Any gift cards?

    vpay?

    • This event is mostly inviting store reps who have posted deals on OzBargain — so the merchants might be a bit limited. As of gift cards, there might be some. Finger crossed.

      • hehe ^__^

  • put some give away deals as well on your own that would be a good refreshment with F5 key.

    • click the banner and win a new F5 key!

  • +1

Do I get anything special for being Ozbargain User #10 ???

  • I was just about to purchase a Sonos Playbar but I think I'll hold out to see if VideoPro put out specials.

  • +1

come on… give my a great robot vacuum deal :)

    • Is there a store (that is participating preferably) and product you have in mind?

    • +1

Just got an email from Aldi, $199 for their robotic vacuum. On sale from Wednesday.

      • I was looking at GearBest iLife v7s for $190, but they charge like $24 for shipping.if this compares to that then it would be great.

        • Well, you have 60 days to return it if the Aldi one is no good. I'd try the Aldi then if its no good try GB. I'm still using my Roomba from 10 years ago but obviously a bit of a premium with the iRobot brand.

        • @neil: is that the same robot vacuum they were selling earlier this year for same price?

        • @kurupted:

          Sorry, don't know.

  • Ozfrenzy!

  • what's the 'on other media' mentioned?

  • +2

Are they giving you details of their proposed sale beforehand so you can decide whether to include them or not?

I'm kind of expecting hundreds of retailers doing their usual catalogue sale or whatever and just joining the event for the free exposure. Would be good if only retailers with what ozbargain moderators deem genuine bargains are allowed to join. Which includes x% off category y of course, I'm not saying they need a specific item below cost or anything, but you know what I mean.

    • For the most part, we don't know what the retailers will be offering. If you have a suggestion for a specific retailer, then certainly let us know and we'll pass it on. There will be cheap Eneloops though.

  • What a great idea! I'd love to see a deal for some cheap international flights/holiday package for school holiday periods! Especially over January! :-)

  • Logitech c920. Always $70 on here and I always seem to miss it.

    • +1

      Have passed on your request.

  • Hope Shopping Express will have a sale on their Intel i7 6700kBeen trying to find one for a good price.

oh and an Asus H170-Pro LGA 1151 :P

    • What's a good price?

      • Well if the i7 goes under $415 that's a good price (lowest I've seen is 410). And for the motherboard not sure..under 120?(Similar motherboard is 120 on mwave). Both are on sale on the ebay site for shopping express normal prices.

I just hope shopping express has a nice collection of sales to pick from.

        • Cool, I've passed on your request to another store that I was in conversation with. We'll see what they say otherwise I'll pass it onto Shopping Express.

Just an FYI for those in Melbourne.

We will be in Melbourne CBD (near the Supreme Court) @ Poked 6PM on Monday giving out FREE OzBargain t-shirts + FREE boardgames. Additionally, any OzBargain members can get 30% off their meals. I'll post a deal on Monday.

    • Boardgame?? Yesss! Although I can't say I've seen anything about the 'OzBargain Board Game'…

I can teach my kids how to shop scrupulously, spend indiscriminately, and how to wear out F5!

I'll bet the playing pieces are Eneloops :D

    • Can you do any earlier than 6pm? I get the poking reference now. :p

The shop is practically behind my work, so I can be there as early as 5pm!

      • 6PM gives people time to come from work..well unless you work next door. It also has to be 6PM on the dot as Scott gave away t-shirts early and there wasn't much left at the set time.

        • What free boardgames are involved? I really want the not a bot badge. :)

        • @bluedufflecoat:

          10 x Monster Rejects and 10 x Disturbed Friends.

        • @neil: sounds hilarious! How do you plan on giving them out?

        • @bluedufflecoat:

Not sure, probably first come, first serve.

        • @neil: I can be there at 5.05pm. 😂

  • Can't vote up deals on the OzBargain10 sale event page?

    • Yes the up voting doesn't work. Also the "real" OzBargain 10 page will be revealed next week.

  • Would love to buy a Kindle.

  • A re-run of this laptop offer ? The ebay code lasts till 24 Nov
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/276574

  • Not enough ski/snowboard gear from Aussie sellers. Surely the first Australian shop that matches US prices would succeed here.

  • +3

How can I forget? Specsavers $50 off $100 spend would be awesome.

    • +2

I tried getting in touch with Jack Hawks a couple of times but no response. I too need to put in an order!

  • a really heartfelt congratulations to the ozbargain team who keep this thing running. you have saved me probably hundreds possibly into the thousands over the years.

  • Event starts at 12PM on Monday 21st November and finishes at 11:59PM on Wednesday 23rd November.

    *11:59AM

    • +3

Thanks. No body saw that typo for 2 months :P

  • OzBargain10 Page updated to list out all the deals in categories.

    • +1

Is that all the deals or are there more to come?

      • +1
