Stumbled across this today as i've been continuously checking around for this particular model for awhile.
Locally $349 seems to be about the going price with not many discounts to be had.

DC Rainmaker Review

I haven't dealt with Gearbest before so taking a punt with them.

Features:
* Garmin’s ELEVATE optical HR sensor for workouts & 24×7 monitoring
* Daily Activity Tracker, with inactivity alerts & Intensity Minutes
* Sleep Tracking
* Stair/Floor counting (barometric altimeter!)
* Smartphone notifications (not just text/call/calendar), Weather Display
* Cardio & Other Activity Modes
* Control of music on your phone
* Garmin VIRB Action Cam control
* ANT+ HR rebroadcasting to other Garmin deices
* Battery Life - Up to 5 days watch/activity tracking mode (24/7 heart rate monitoring, no GPS) or up to 8 hours using GPS
* Running workout modes
* Basic run/walk mode and Virtual Pacer modes

Things to be wary of:
* Doesn't work with external ANT+ sensors e.g. a chest strap HRM.
* HRM not as accurate as a chest strap.

  • That's a pretty good price, looking broader to US websites as a comparison they are about $280 AUD-ish right now after conversion.

  • This is only a few dollars cheaper than Amazon by the looks of things.

  • for running I'd much prefer the 910xt which have been incredibly cheap lately.

    I think the only advantage on this one is like the passive step counting feature like fitbit.

    • +1

      That's kind of comparing apples to oranges. The 910xt is a dedicated running/tri watch while the Vivosmart is more like a daily activity trackers (steps, sleep etc) with some extra gps features.

    • I'd prefer the forerunner 235 if it was purely for running. Which has a pretty good price on evanscycles at the moment at $321.

      The 910xt is more a tri watch and is an aged device, it also lacks an integrated heart rate monitor.

      • Forerunner 630 for $349 at rebel

        • Good price and local, again no inbuilt HRM in the 630 but excellent advanced feature set.

        • @Certo:

          While that is true the included HR Run strap should be more accurate! Depends on what level of stats you want I guess.

    lol i wouldn't dream taking the risk of spending that much at a site like gearbest

    • fyi, i received this about 8 days after payment online.

      Wouldn't have any issue buying from gearbest again, most annoying issue i had is the tracking number they supply doesn't work on the auspost tracking site - i used a third party site (found in a whirlpool forum) which gave me the proper tracking.

      No idea why that's the case, I know a gearbest employee was reading the thread so if they still are i'd suggest improving your tracking for the customer.

    Can anyone recommend a running/sports watch with built in GPS and storage for music? HRM would be a bonus

    • TomTom Spark is a pretty interesting watch that ticks all the boxes, either that or another android watch might be the go.

      Bit more information about it on DC rainmaker

      Might be what you're looking for.

      • I wish the garmins had on board storage. Could ditch my phone then.

        • I actually backed a kickstarter "Bragi Dash", a set of wireless earbuds with on board storage. Been great for running.

          I think Samsung has a similar set now. Iconx
