Tonight (28 Sept) online only as per Currybender's deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/268115 You also get an extra $5 credit as a club member tonight, so the filler becomes free. That makes the brake pads a bit more attractive at $62.49!

Of course, you can also find other fillers for $2.51 to get across the line, i.e. club special oil pan for $2.99 http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/SCA-Oil-Drain-Pan-8… to save another $2 making the pads $60.49!

Since it's a common question, "how to find the part no. for your car?" I'm going to answer here rather than you reading my reply to comments below.

Easiest way for me is to search the bendix catalogue for your car, then type in the part no. codes for ultra premium pads (and ONLY ultra premium pads) via the search bar on supercheapauto. Add two sets to cart without using the web page I linked to. The $15 credit appears in your club card on the 1st Oct.

Just in-case someone read your post as "these are bad":
They are pretty standard pads - comparable to Bendix CT. Good price with this deal, but not full price.

I have these 'Ultra Premium' as front pads on my WRX, and they're good.

  • Crap website, you can't see the codes for the pads until you individually click each one - very poor UX.

    • yep…there's two ways to do it. One is to search the bendix catalogue for your car, then type in the codes for pads via the search bar on supercheapauto. Second way is to go via the supercheapauto parts search section of site. Add two sets to cart and you'll get the discount.

  • HOw do you find out which one fits your car?

    • The interface is really crap lol. You have to select your car first and then go down to brakes and hope that they are in the brake catergory. If not they aren't on sale.

      • I usually just call Bendix they will tell you over the phone.

Easiest way is to enter your car details in the "CLICK HERE to select your vehicle" just below the search field.

  • fail, clicking through, can't seem to find my code required.. must be for certain obscure cars only? Mazda 6 here.

try call your local store and see if they have them sitting on the shelf. But to be honest, they mostly only stock up on Holden, ford and toyotas.

  • I'm looking at doing my own brakes for the first time. These "Ultra Premium" pads sounded top quality but their website says:
Ultra Premium is exclusive to Supercheap as a general purpose formulation, from the same family of friction material as Bendix General CT.

    https://www.bendix.com.au/faq

    • Bendix is still good though

      • Ebc pads if you want something better
But for everyday mommy and daddy over priced over rated bendix is fine

        • Pretty sure ebc is more expensive than this though. May as well go brembo

        • @supnigs: The only benefit of brembo pads is if you are already running a big brake Brembo setup otherwise EBC make an excellent range of pads to suit standard car brake setups for improved braking at a fraction of the costs.

        • @captobvious:

I got 70k out of my last set of Bendix. Is that not good?

        • @EightImmortals: depends on the individual driving style, vehicle, conditions and purpose. Pads can last anything between 1000km to 100000km+

        • @captobvious:

I used EBC greenstuffs before and it was terrible.

They would bite when you applied a lot of pressure but had poor initial bite.

        • @JB1: that actually sounds like they work exactly as intended where it matters

It would be terrible if you had shit pads and they faded when you needed them to stop your car.

        • @captobvious:

I prefer progressive brakes so it's easy to stop smoothly.

They were an all or nothing pad. Better to have good initial bite for street driving.

So end of the day, I thought they were shit compared to OEM pads for daily driving.

        • @JB1: what car and how much extra power were you running?

        • @captobvious:

It was on a 03 Holden/Opel Astra Turbo. Slightly extra power but nothing out of the ordinary.

Also used on a E46 BMW and it wasn't good either, didn't learn my lesson the first time :D

These days I use Remsa as an OEM replacement pad… always good consistent results.

The reason I looked at Greenstuff was due to the lower brake dust compared to OEM pads on European cars.

        • @JB1:
I'm a go to wo driver. I prefer sensitive brakes too. Especially with Sydney's new breed of drivers. I shouldn't be too critical. The donkey's they learnt on wouldn't have had blinkers.

Did you go back to OEM or try a different aftermarket brand?
EDIT JB1 posted before I posted

        • @skywalka:

I switched to QFM HPX after Greenstuff and used with great success.

The store selling QFM HPX- http://brakesdirect.com.au/ suggested I try Remsa which was also very good and I've been using Remsa for all my brakes ever since, in Golf GTI, XC60 and BMW E46.

Reasons I use Remsa is reduced brake dust, no difference in braking performance and is cheaper than OEM, in fact Remsa has a higher temp rating, but I never overheat my brakes so I'll never use that feature.

        • @JB1: ebc probably wasnt the right stuff for the purpose. Where it is really good is when used in a a car where the performance has been increased a fair bit and still running standard brake hardware. This is where it shines.

What are good are hawks, i used to run them. They make pads for my ap and brembo set ups. The only problem are hawk pads are expensive and no one stocks them. So im back to ebc yellow and trying out a set of orange stuff in the race cars and repco thermocrap for the commuters, green stuff on the landcruiser is great especially towing the racecars, horse float or boat on the highway or up and down the bight, really handles the extra load well especially when constantly used on mountain bends, minimal fade

        • @captobvious:

          The hawks are good.

While the EBC Greenstuff may be ideal for light track work, I think I did have it on the car when I took it to the track, for a road car set up it was terrible, but for towing it may be good due to fade resistance. Having said that I think HPXs and Remsa's have equal braking capability with much better pedal feel and initial bite.

    • +2

Nah, Bendix are overpriced average pads now.

@skywalka Even the better Bendix are pretty average pads anyway, and certainly not worth the extra money. Somewhere along the lines Bendix decided to just cash in on its old rep.

  • Can't seem to get the $15 off $80 happening. I've manually added front and rear brake pads for my BF wagon, and that has freebied the rears, added the air fresheners for $5, but it totalls $82.49.

Anyone been successful with the $15 off $80?

    • Are you a club member? If so, are you logged in?

      • Yes, member, logged in.

Even if I remove the extra brake pads, and a few air fresheners, I can't see the $15 off $80.

Where did you get the information for that from?

        • +1

It's in the email from supercheapauto. I just read it thru, t&c etc, it is a $15 credit to your club membership, not a discount as such

        • @assailantsky:
Thanks for that. Of course $15 off would be better, but $15 credit with cheap pads is also great.

        • credit will be applied 1 Oct and expires 14 Oct.

        • @Tony76: we also get $5 credit on top too for spend tonight, so essentially that's $20 off!

        • @assailantsky:

Yep. Might want to update title - remove the online price, because it's not a discount, it's credit.

        • @Tony76: done!

    How annoying.
The deal is only valid for the front pads of my car………no point buying two sets of front pads!!!
    Corolla 2007

    • Go halves with your mate's corolla?

      • Tried to add two front pads into card. Deal wont work….

        • CT pads or Ultras? Has to be Ultras

    • Neither front nor rear are available for my car (1999 Subaru Liberty). Never have any for it when there is a sale.

  • Too bad they only do Premium for the front brake pads of my car and not both front and rear :( (Also Toyota Corolla)

    • From above comment "Ultra Premium is exclusive to Supercheap as a general purpose formulation, from the same family of friction material as Bendix General CT."

      • General is best anyway. Unless you like squeeling brakes or rapid rotor wear or love warming up your brakes before they grip.

      • Yeah but why only do Premium for the front and not both ? My car now has Premium at the front and General CT at the rear. Also means I can't take advantage of this deal.

        • Its only a corolla, you are not going to break any land speed records with it. That combination will suffice for your everyday driving.

        • @captobvious: I know that. I was just asking and as I mentioned, it means I can't advantage of the deal as I can only buy front Premium ones and not both front and rear ones.

  • hi all i have a camry 2009 -
A - is it hard to replace brake pads?
B- is it hard to replace brake pads?

    • not hard, just be sure to get the tool to compress the brake cylinder.. like this one…
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Disc-Brake-Pad-Spreader-Installat…

And don't try and breath in the dust.. oh and don't get grease or oil on the pads itself..

    • No. Make friends with someone who can help you out, or if noone is available, there's always Youtube.

Learn by doing, but BE SAFE. Cars weigh in the tonnes, and don't care if they fall on you, they obey gravity, not your wishes. Buy/borrow jack stands, or at least some properly stacked timber.

    • +2

Just remember that if you don't do it properly, you will most definitely regret not paying someone to do it.

      • +2

yeah, but even if you don't do it properly, once you start doing this, it's really hard to stop.

  • How does bendix compare to bosch?

    • Much of a muchness target market are the masses

  • bought a set on the 21/8(still unopened) does anyone know if you can return them and buy again for the deal price?

  • good deal.

  • I don't think this deal is for SUV break pads.

    • Ford territory is a suv, pads available

How much should a mechanic charge approx to replace the front brakes?

    • ^ This..?

    • +2

More than what the pads are worth

    • +1

Around $200 just for the fronts.

You tube how to change pads.
Brake pad changes are one of the easiest things to do on a car and you don't need any specialist tools.

Money saved can buy more shit on ozb

  • I can't seem to get it to work. I choose both pads in the combo thing and add to cart and it always goes to checkout with normal price for 2, not discounted. Anyone else have this issue? Anyway around it? I've tried a few different ways - adding two to cart etc.

    • $15 credit is loaded onto your club card on the 1st Oct, and not a discount. For the buy one get one free, make sure you have two ultra premium brakes in the cart, and not General CT

  • same, i find the part using the parts guide, click on2, cart doesnt show discount. What am I doing wrong? The bendix part I need is SPO2225213 General CT, any help would be appreciated

  • On this page its hard to figure out which part I need http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/BonusBuy/buy-bendix-ultra-p…
I click 'choose product' and it doesnt mention the model of the brake pad, I need SPO2225213 General CT but when I click a random one for example it says 'DB1085'.
Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks

  • yeah website keeps failing when you add it in the combo selector (and it says congratulations you have achieved this deal) or just adding manually.

doesn't seem to give the second pair for free in the cart. and yes these are the ultra premiums.

    • my testing suggests that it's the website acting up somehow, if you add two different pads, they get the discount, but if I add 2x of the same pads, it doesn't…

      • +3

yup! it's just fk'd. such a poorly coded site. their parts selector doesn't show the model numbers and the combo selector doesn't show enough in the title to figure out which one is which. hate.

sparesbox is so much better (and cheaper). they've got 10% off atm too.

        • +1 for Sparesbox; where I ended up getting my rear Bendix pads from

  • Do any of these come with the audible warning for when the pads have nearly worn away?

    • Audible warning as in the form of a metal tab scraping on your rotors when your pads are nearly done? Yes! :)

  • Does this work in store?

    • Yes, it's a catalogue special.

  • ….has anyone received their $15 credit (over $80 spend) from the 28th?
made a $99.98 purchase and still not seeing anything in my account…

    • +1

Yes ive received the $15 credit

      • for some reason mine didnt so had to call up and get it put on my account…all good now
