  • Can recommend the Beelink. It's has the best price performance ratio on the current market. Keep in mind that it's overall performance; not just spec on paper.

    • Beelink is good, you can get it for 64c less on AliExpress, though.

      • The one I posted is US$41.99 with Coupon code and Aliexpress is US$42.35.

        • True - I thought the coupon was applied by the link.

      • A box with the newer S912 chipset can be purchased for an extra $20.

    • +2

Does it automatically boot Kodi when powered on? Can you power it on via the remote?

    • Not for long I suspect with the new Roku lineup: 5 devices starting at $29.99 RRP all have 4K playback :) The lowest tier device is last Roku generations highest tier hardware to give an idea of performance and it pisses on Chromecast while being cheaper.

The current gen highest tier is $129.99 RRP with 4K HDR and it pisses all over Nvidia Shield TV as a media box.

Yet to be released of course ;)

    • Great price and product.

I just went the process of purchasing a google box recently and saw this too. Was very tempted to buy the Beelink for the great price and specs.

But in the end I went with this one because it has 4 USB connections and the 1000mps ethernet (I download on another computer and transfer through my network). Just posting for people to consider. The specs are not as good as the Beelink posted above (less RAM/ROM and older android) but the faster ethernet and extra USB ports might appeal to some people who are mainly using this for watching video through a connected USB harddrive (rather than gaming or other more demanding tasks),

      http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_279495.html
I got it for $AU46.80 couple of days back. I'm sure it will be that cheap again soon. The prices for these google boxes jump up and down a fair bit.

    • +1

I own this box and it's awesome. I also have a Tronsmart box with a very similar specs but I prefer Beelink over it because Beelink is super easy to setup, comes pre installed with a lot of helpful apps and video tutorials, KODI comes pre installed with video addons… Overall it felt a bit nicer to use.

  • Thanks OP, time to pull the trigger again.
At least Gearbest don't send a completely different model like Geekbuying.

  • +5

OP, let's match this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/266962, I'll buy one then…

    • -5

      HI Ametric

The one you refer to is not same model this is Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro and your link have xiaomi note 3 pro prime.

      • +2

In the specs of that lot on aliexpress it says "Global Version - Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition" The specs look the same though…

      • +4

Seems to be exactly the same specs - 'Prime' refers to the international model (with B28) I think.

  • Man, I bought this Beelink not 2 days ago. $66.84, AU plug. Do not tell me if there is/was a code for it… I think the S905 chip could be slightly better than the S905x. The one in this post has Android 6. Oh well, I think either will be good and $56 is a great price.

    • That au plug pack is good even if it costs extra otherwise you need a travel adapter and the power pack can come off the adapter sometimes. They use 5v so no hope of reusing old 12v …. and au plug pack costs $10 anyway.

    • +1

The highs and the lows of ozbargain.

  • +4

The phone is called Xiaomi Note 3 Special Edition (also known as Kate), not the Xiaomi Note 3 Pro (known as Kenzo). AFAIK, it has the exact same internals of Xiaomi Note 3 Pro, but a different radio, supporting 700MHz (B28).

The Xiaomi Note 3 Special Edition is taller than Xiaomi Note 3 Pro by 2.5mm (152.5mm vs 150mm).

I have it in dark grey and it is a beautiful phone; I am very happy with it.

Finding a screen protected and a case is rather challenging. I am using Xiaomi Note 3 Pro's screen protector and case (TPU case) for it (widely available). The screen protector is around 2mm short, and the case feels tight, barely covering the edges. They are not ideal but can do the job to some extent. I wonder what would happen if the phone falls; do I have enough protection? You can get the exact fit from Taiwan.

    Accessories:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/accessories/lis…

    • Can it be used with Telstra?

    • +7

exactly what people NEED to know.
      1) Cases wont fit.
      2) Replacement parts not available
      3) Xiaomi won't give a sh*t about servicing/repairing your phone.

      • +1

        This ozbargainer has a point.

Like I said, getting a screen protector and a case is challenging.

Also, if the screen breaks, for example, which does not happen to an ozbargainer (or does it?), it might be very costly to repair — parts are not available, might need to send it overseas for repairs, … etc.

        • +3

lol downvoted for advising people? I cracked my screen on the first week, dropped without a case because none would fit, it's currently impossible to repair this. No parts, no service.

    • Can use with Vodafone?

      • +1

        Yes.

    • What's the difference between this and the pro prime version. I got this one from a recent sale https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Official-Global-Version-Xiao…

Is it the same phone as listed here? Seems to be, but doesn't have the "Prime" in the name.

      • +1

I also think it is the exact same phone.

Different sites call the phone differently, which is annoying.

  • The beelink has no AU plug option. Is that an error or does one of the others work here?

    • Gearbest will send you AU adapter with the TV Box.

      • Oh ok then. Thanks for the quick response :)

      • So you can just select "US" and they will send you an AU one?

        • +1

The main Plug will be US and they will send you AU Adapter with that.

        • @monty.melb: Ok I see, thanks.

  • +3

Only missing NFC to make this the perfect phone…

  • +1

Any chance of a deal on the Xiaomi mi max?

  • +2

I was getting a bit down on myself for impulse-buying the Beelink (actually I've been looking at it for a while) and then I remembered that I just spent $280 for 10 weeks swimming lessons for the kids. Amazing how cheap these things are for what they do.

    • Yes I have on on each tv now.

  • -2

Strongly recommend a raspberry pi over these shitty android boxes

    • +1

I've read that the S905 offers better Kodi performance than rpi3. Also: Netflix.

      • -1

I have kodi on rpi3. Only thing it can't do is hevc

        • +4

Well you'll be pleased to hear that these can do hevc @ 4k. :)

    • +2

Strongly recommend these Android boxes over the shitty raspberry pi (for video playback).

What idiot would buy a tv box at the end of 2016 that couldn't do 4k or hevc?

    • +1

Why are you strongly recommending a device made as a children's educational tool that does not work out of the box as a media player and when if the user is able to set it up - get ready to learn Linux folks and get ready for many hours of frustration as things don't work - that's what you wanted when you bought a TV box right? ;)

Oh and it's an inferior media player.

      Totes worth it.

      • The nice thing about the Pi is that if the Beelink gives a better Kodi experience I'll be able to find something else for it to do. Also, I think it will be supported by Kodi developers long after the AMLOGIC players are consigned to the dustbin of history. But yeah. A lot more dicking around with it- or having fun with it, depending on how much of a geek you are I guess.

        • Doesn't matter how much geek one is you can't make an inferior SoC to decode 4k hevc. The Pi is anything but media player.

  • +6

To be slightly pedantic, band 28 is 700mhz, but 700mhz is not always band 28. 700mhz can be band 12, 13, 14, 17, 28, 29, 44, 67 or 68. It may be better to say it the other way around :)

    • weren't they the mystery numbers on "Lost" ?

  • +1

Can the beelink play Plex? Whats advantage of Kodi over Plex?

    • +1

Plex is good if you watch from multiple devices, while Kodi is easier if it's your sole player (doesn't require a server). However, Kodi can also read your Plex library using a plugin (PleXBMC?).

But yes, I'm sure the beelink would be able to run the Plex app.

Are you seriously comparing Amazon with a company that the governement has officially warned to stay away from? Tell me you're just trolling…

        • -3

@snagseb: Comparison? It is not.Who cares about Amazon i am not a fanboy. It is to show up that we are here for shopping not for the reputation .If we want to make it a principle matter must be for everyone.

        • -1

          @Ciccillo:

A fanboy of Amazon..wtf is that exactly? Some loser that likes great service and prices with speedy delivery times? You don't seem to understand that Android Enjoyed is defrauding people…when the government officially warns you of a dodgy business, you steer clear. Your neg should be revoked.

        • -2

@snagseb: Of course i am talking about fanboy. You report a news goverment and we all got it.I report what Amazon doing IN THE WORLD and you came out with "Comparing Amazon with Android enjoyed",so where is your equity?

Just the opposite experience here. Bought so many items from them with free shipping and all of them arrived within 3 weeks, one even arrived in a week and I was really surprised. In my view, their after sales service is much better than some of the others as I had to get a tablet replaced as it failed within first few days and didn't have much hassle.

  • Fine.

  • -1

    Wtf!

  • I prefer the black color last time, but it is still a high performance/cost ratio device if people really want the 650 chips.

  • I can not understand people here fight on baseless things, could someone please comment on Beelink MINI MXIII II TV Box. I am in market for one and really don't know about these boxes. how is the quality.

  • Hi rep, can you make any deal for the controller? thanks

    http://www.gearbest.com/video-game/pp_167775.html?utm_source…

  • Golden… :/

  • You are taking a risk buying one of these with reliability, warranty and returns, but if the phone was made by Samsung, for example, and purchased from an Austalian seller with an Australian warranty, how much would it cost?

  • +2

    Awesome deal on the phone.
Note free GB shipping usually takes 10 to 30 days to deliver, depending on which way the wind is blowing.

  • Golden only, more expensive than the AliExpress deal mentioned above (exact same phone B-28 Global)
OP please match it and I'll pull the trigger…

  • Does the Beelink have HDMI 2.0 to allow 4k @ 60hz?
Also, if you were to play 4k video off USB in the Beelink, would you lose quality?
    Thanks

  • +1

Wasn't this same phone $210 last week? yes the b28 version
