Not to mention charging EXTRA for timed calls every time you dial a 13 or 1300 number…

  • How much was this previously?

    • Same as a few months ago. This deal (down to the 3 month trial) was offered at least back in June. I rejected it for being $20 too expensive, depending on the line speed. I think the line speed was pretty average on this deal. I thought the decent line speed from Telstra was $120. Can anyone confirm?

I won't beg, but this is a no deal from me. It might help a bigpond customer wanting to upgrade but keep a bigpond email address.

Edit: beg was meant to be neg. I left is as it might make somebody have a good chuckle.

      • I'm on the 200GB $90 plan. I tried to upgrade to the 400GB $90 plan last year but they said I was ineligible as an existing customer. Thanks Telstra.

offer is available to new fixed broadband and nbn™ customers

        • That sucks have you tried complaining? My understanding was that you can move plan freely, however for.some you might need to restart contract. I am going to try to get this m,this offer.is via the shops. Worth trying

        • @fozzie: Actually I clicked through and it allowed me to rebundle for a $50 fee (I'm still on a 2 year contract). Thanks OP.

        • @muncan:

Mate that sucks, I'm on the 400gb plan and pay $69 a month.

        • @muncan:

Hey Muncan i thought we needed to call shop. Where did you click?

        • @muncan:

Thanks, no international calls though. I wil try to get in touch with a shop and see if I can get the free international bundle. After 24 months you need to pay extra though but a.nice bonus if I can get it for now.

        • @fozzie: I don't even make local calls! I'm still disappointed Apple doesn't let me delete their phone app on my iPhone.

        • @muncan:
Lol muncan fair enough :) Well I have family and frienda abroad so itd be nice to have. I just spoke to Hurstville and lady confirmed if I pay $50 I can sign new contract.

        • Used to work for Telstra for 6 years up until a month ago. You definitely got told the wrong info. You can change bundle as long as you are happy to start a new contract. If you are in contract currently, it is just a $59 recontracting fee(This may have changed recently to $89 to align with the activation fee).

Also, if you complain enough, they will give you the speed boost(100down/40up) for free. I'm currently getting that myself. Just whinge it up, best bet is through the cancellations department.

        • @ONEMariachi: Speed boost?!? I'm on ADSL2+ 24down/1up. Welcome to my life.

        • @muncan:

Lucky you— we're ADSL2+ and are thrilled to see anything over 6d/256mb up…

          :P

        • @ONEMariachi:
I paid nothing for the bonus 200gb. was on 200gb. Though my 24 months started again.

        • @Geekomatic: Oh noes, {hugs}

        • @sillyhead: If it was an added bonus, the contract hasn't started again. Only if you called and changed the plan.

        • @Geekomatic: Yeah, ADSL sucksss. Had it for the vast majority of my life, at about 2down. It was filth. Unfortunately, adsl speeds are not exactly Telstras fault but a infrastructure issue. Copper needs to be eradicated, the government needs to pull their finger out.

        • @ONEMariachi:
I am on cable, my copper ADSL line was horrible. Telstra cable is my only option. I only started the plan 2 months prior so the reset of 24 didn't matter much. Was happy to get twice the data.

        • @2stroksmokr: any extras with that. ? Telstra TV?
We pay $79 for 400gb, with T TV supposedly month 2month as our contract had finished……but in reality there's no competition that supplies my address

        • @albanyson:

Yeah get Telstra TV but its unopened the box. Looked at my plan at its $89 with a $20 discount applied. I know the girl personally who's signed me up for the plan too probably what's helped?

    • Same price

  • +1

This deal has been available for around a month so not so new as stated in the description

    • And peeps should beware the 'hidden spike'

Unless you are all reading the Ts&Cs carefully and diligently, as call customers are expected to, you may not know about TBP:

      Telstra Broadband Protect
You are entitled to receive a full discount off the standard monthly
charge while you remain on this Bundle and otherwise the
standard terms for this service apply. See the Telstra Broadband
Protect Critical Information Summary for further information.

Sounds like a good feature*, until you follow the link they omitted to include in the TBP Critical Information Summary (from the above paragraph where it is buried in the 'THIB' Critical Information Summary that was all too <tl/dr>?

Anyway, if you enable this, or fail to disable it, your 90/mo plan will become a $99.95/mo plan after 24 months

      • Also, given how they have mis-managed this kind of thing in the past by out-sourcing to dodgy companies, you should be well aware that your web-history may be unsecurely fed, real-time to unknown parties in foreign jurisdictions. They don't seem to make this clear anywhere AFAIC see.

Still, perhaps better than some of the last bundle promos that gave a discount but included a provision to make it revert to an inflated price after 24 months. Looks like they finally figured that little deception was not so smart.

If you ignore the banner pricing they jacked up at the same time as announcing that discount, this is a hardly cheaper bundle, esp. if you are
      - a non-metro/rural customer
      - need copper-based ADSL/ADSL2+, rather than cable or NBN.

assuming you don't need Telstra Air, of course, LOL!

  • +2

Not really that good value. Every plan includes includes to mobiles and this increases another $30 just to get that. I personally would not be going anywhere near this plan. The Optus $50sim was even way better value.

    • Fair enough if you spend hours and hours to an International number, but to a man stream consumer..no value here

      • +3

I would have thought that Skype et al. would be absolutely murdering international telephony revenues.

  • Is this for ADSL2+, Cable or NBN?

    • Yes

      • jv since you're an admin could you edit the title please?

        • +7

          LOL.. JV is no admin

        • +4

          @bchliu:

Careful or jv will ban you

  • Wow brilliant!i pay $95 and no calls on the 500gb bundle! I am going to call the shops that offer it and see if I can get it.

    • were you able to get it?

Im on the same $95 500GB bundle with no calls included. I tried on the phone but the person said they couldn't include the int'l calls

      • I went through chat. They couldn't offer international calls as it's a store offer. I asked them if they could offer the bndle for $80 (500gb australian landline and free telstra tv). They agreed so i am ssving $15 a month and can call oz landline. Ihad to pay $50 and sign up new contract, for me not a problem as they are the only ones that can offer me cable

        • Good stuff fozzie - I went in store and they could apply the int'l calls through some backend channel.

I'll have to decide if its worth the $50 recontract fee or whether I should sit until my contract ends in a couple of months.

      • The $95 bundle on the website has a bonus 500gb at the moment (1TB for $95 a month). Might even worth seeing if you can get that.

  • +6

Telstra must still think they are the monopoly if they consider this a competitive offer.

    • Well for me they are as I get cable which is fast. I signed up to adsl initially and it was unusable (Optus)

      • -4

If you signed up to ADSL and its unusable. Why do you think this will be any different?

        • +6

Why do you think this will be any different?

Did you actually read his response? He explained why this is different.

          Hint: Cable.

        • @PainToad:

Yes but isn't this deal for adsl2+ and NBN not cable?

        • @HandsomeMonkey:
          It includes cable too.

        • @HandsomeMonkey: Their bundles include the same pricing for all 3 technologies. NBN and Cable only offer speed boost as a difference, but base is identical.

  • Tried to get internet through them, told me I couldn't get it. Went with another company. Filipinos don't seem to understand us that well either

    • -2

Did you have fun asking them to repeat every single thing they said so you could understand the thick accent?

  • -1

Get unlimited calls to home phones in 35 countrie

If you have a home in 35 countries, I doubt you'd be worried about how much the phone bill is…

  • For an extra $9 you can get Telstra TV box

  • If anyone wants to buy the Telstra TV box for $9 ill buy it off them

  • One of my friend is on the same plan without the international calls a month back.thought this would be better than that. People dont love Telstra (same as me ): )

  • +4

You can always get additional $10 discount if you just ask for it. So at $80p/month the plan isn't too bad.

    • +2

Plenty of cable users have been able to negotiate free 100Mbps Speedboost too. Turns it into a good deal.

      • I hope you're paying exactly $109.95 for 1000GB 100Mbit down / 2.5 up. You may be able to have setup, technician and modem fees waived or reduced also

If not then Telstra has suckered you into paying more than you need to for cable.

Their whole cable sales process is utterly disgraceful. It involves at least 3 different levels of service, 3 different pricing structures which can be applied to all 3 service levels and two further made up devices including a "speed boost" to use at the end of lying to you about the 9 different price points we have so far in order to further shaft you for a further $30 on top of the presumably terrible deal they offered you if you didn't spend days talking to them to get to $109.95. Did i mention that there's at least 2 different price points for technicians and modems as well?

The sales process involves going around in circles with all these variables and rotating them to the best benefit of Telstra whilst pretending to be offering you a great deal. Oh and they'll deny that any better deal exists - but 30 seconds later they'll be able to do the "amazing" thing of offering you what you already knows exists.

Service is pretty damn good once you get it though.

        • +1

You need to chill out, dude. It's all part of the game, and no-one is forcing you to buy from Telstra.

          I'm on the 500GB "M" bundle w/ Speedboost for $80/mo.

        • @MrMaestro:

How'd you get that deal? Chat?

        • +1

@zuccs: Yeah through chat. I was offered a $10 discount straight up but the Speedboost took a bit of back and forth.

I tried calling Sales a couple of times and they wouldn't budge from the advertised price.

    • how do you get the $10 discount?
      Thanks in advance

      • Use 24x7 Chat. The phone reps don't seem to budge on price.

        • Ha i tried today, the 24x7 chat wouldnt budge on anything, spoke to 3 different people and a supervisor who all said no deal.
im an existing out of contract user.
not impressed with them, why give the deal to some but not others is so odd. I told them id be changing isp, they said OK we respect that decision! LOL!

        • @moobrez: adjust your tone

  • -1

Oh good Telstra is now charging less per GB for mobile than they do for fixed line cable.

    • +3

      Math not your strong point?

      • Lol

  • +1

I signed up for this deal about 18mths back when it was advertised for $100 per month, however back then when you called Telstra and asked for discount they reduced it to $80 per month so I'm guessing it may still be possible. Some info on that deal is mentioned here if you search for Global Bundle: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2319371

    • Thanks I just got $10 off the M bundle. So happy as I am now paying $15 less a month and i will get free telstra tv and local calls ;)

  • signing up is the easy part, getting telstra to come over and install it is a hassle. i read so many stories about technicians missing schedules. imagine taking a day off work to stay home and no one ends up coming.

    • Not sure how wide spread that is in the grand scheme of things. Over 6 years of selling internet through Telstra (Selling at least 10+ plans a month) I had that happen 3 times, There was usually in the end a good reason for it, (customer gave the wrong address, customer wrote the wrong date down, technician was in a car accident).
So whilst I'm sure it happens, touting it as though it is the norm is facetious at best. Especially considering for Cable it is completely free and for ADSL, you don't even need someone to come out.

  • +2

For anyone who made the same mistake when clicking, this is an internet plan NOT Mobile.

    Telstra Internet

  • i still think my one is better. $90 for 1TB data, unlimited call to std, local, mobile. speed boost (cable with 100m/2m). international call using skype

    • IS that currently available?

      • not sure, i got it couple of months ago. but you can always do a try

        • When did they throw Speedboost in there for free? I dont remember it being in the deal. They did have 6 months of Streaming for free from Presto and Netflix from memory.

        • @bchliu:
its always available - you just need to pester enough / get the right person.

        • @kingmoron: Tried before on four different people and being very insistent. But didnt give me.. :( Gave up because 30Mbit is still better than the 4.25Mbit ADSL2 I was on before..

        • +1

@bchliu: you need speak with disconnect team, not sales team. only disconnect team have rights to give you free speed boost.

        • @kingmoron: LOL I tried to chat to them and they said that it was never available. I even talked to a supervisor who said the same thing. Well I guess it's better if I'll just pay it. Besides, I have a lot of money! :D

        • @su27km:
Incorrect. Sales teams can put on also.

        • @kingmoron: not for me, i tried 2-3 guys in sales team, include online chat and phone calls, no luck. so tried disconnect team, no problem.

    • That's better than me - I'm on $93 for 1TB data with speed boost. Took a while to get that, and I had to get through to 2nd level support before they would negotiate.

      • still good, right?

        • yep still good, but I hate effectively paying for a phone I never use. Hopefully when the NBN opens up cable to other ISPs better deals will be able.

  • Somewhat related, what's a good provider that uses the Telstra line and is far cheaper?(in WA region). Looking to do away with Telstra's expensive plans internet plans.

  • If you call those countries this is a great deal.

Many Telstra haters on here, it wouldn't matter how much of a deal you put up they'd still neg and/or complain.

I for one love them. Yes I have some issues with them occasionally, but in my experience they beat the hell out of Optus…

  • Hi guys I just chatted to telstra and got this bundle for $80! No international calls but it has also saved me from going to the shop.Over the moon. I was paying $95 for 500gb and no calls. Now I will pay $80 plus local calls telstra tv and all the different vouchers. I tried to get the booster for free but no luck. I had to pay $50 for the recontract but in the 4 month I will have made that back. Thanks op

    • Damn I will have to try this. My 'installation' (?) isn't scheduled until 10 Oct.

      • +1

Yeah chat via 24 app. Use billing equiry then phone and Internet. I told the lasy I wanted the $90 with international but that's only in store. So i told her i would do it with her if she could do it for $80. She said no problem!

        • +1

          Thank you my friend!

          me:
My friend spoke to somebody at Telstra today and signed up for the same bundle I did for $80/month (currently advertised at $90/month) - would you be willing to do the same for me?

          Telstra:
sure, I can do that for you

Holy &%# that was easy. You just saved me $240.

        • @muncan:
Glad you were able to get the same offer :)

  • did anyone get free speed boost on nbn on this deal or is it only for cable?

    • There's a current deal at the moment I believe where they give 50% off their NBN speedboost. you may try contacting them over the phone because 24x7 chat has limited access to NBN.

    • Yes I did. I went to store and asked for free speed boost thrown in. But I am on cable and not NBN.

  • Went to Telstra. Got this with intl calls.first said that's not available. Had to show the link to accept. Also gave 10 aud discount..aud80 per mnth is ok i think

    • Which store did you go to?

I went to 2 stores in Melbourne. None of them are willing to give me $10 disccount….

      • so how did you exactly get the $10 discount?
