Jeez I bought a Mini 3 and it seemed old at the time but I was forced to for educational reasons but a Mini 2… with the Mini 4 already a year old… talk about selling mutton as lamb.

There's actually only a very small difference between the Mini 2 and Mini 3. This is mainly the finger print reader on the Mini 3 and that the storage sizes are different (Mini 2 comes in 32GB whilst Mini 3 skips the 32GB model). Otherwise, same processor, same graphics, same RAM, same everything else.

In fact, most people rather Mini 2 given it was a good $200+ cheaper for essentially the same hardware bar the fingerprint reader.

The Mini 3 is identical to the 2 except for the finger print reader. I wouldn't be judging others for buying a 2, you brought the same device, for more. Lol.

        I paid $495 for a 64Gb Mini 3 two years ago… I doubt that very much.

I'm a victim as anyone really, I dont want to pay $500 for an Apple device at all but hey, NSW EDU says you have to.

        • What do you doubt?

        • NSW Dept. of Education? They don't force you to buy iPads. They don't even officially support them!

@stdusract: Pretty sure the Dept of Ed is on BYOD these days (or more like CYOD with your own money and limited list). iPads are a luxury items as is Macbooks.

        • Yeah, @tonyjzx you couldn't be more wrong with that last statement. @stdusract is 100% correct.

    • I use an iPad Air (same hardware as mini 2) as my primary tablet, its faultless for what I use it for.
Even running ios10 without an issue.

  • Got a mini 2 to use as a screen for my DJI Phantom 4 and it works for that but even basic things like youtube are quite choppy, if you have to have an Apple go for a mini 4 or air 2 if you can.

  • Mini 2 runs flawlessly on iOS 9

Didn't risk updating to iOS 10

Haven't really felt the need to upgrade in the 3 years I've had it

    • You need a factory reset and reinstall. That will fix any performance issues.

      • No IOS 10 for iPad 3 very sad.

        Original they said would have.

I have a iPad 3, they should of stopped the updates with iOS 6. Became a slow brick with iOS >= 7

          @PainToad:

But if you buy a new one, problem solved :) #applelogic

      • Err

        I am on IOS 9.3

        Without issue

        • I mean.. updating to IOS 10 and a factory reset will give reasonable performance.

        • @bchliu:

Truth be told I much prefer iOS 9 anyway

Mot such a fan of ios10 on my iPhone SE. Runs super smooth but personally think the OS is uglier

This is a good deals for kids or work use with simple apps.
I use Mini 2 daily (for over 2 years now I think) for work and it works really well.

    • I've had a mini 2 for nearly as long and I agree, it still works extremely well and handles video streaming (Netflix and YouTube) and web browsing perfectly.

Aside from running graphically intensive games, I think it's still perfectly useable.

    Ye olde teche

  • i still think this was a really good deal.
