Toshiba 128GB Exceria U3 MicroSDXC £23.74 (~AU $39) Delivered @ MyMemory Germany

1160
mymemory5

Sub $40 delivered for this U3 card now if you have a fee free card, as the british pound continues to fall. Change the currency from euros to pounds in the top right sidebar to get the cheaper conversion.

From past reviews, most people seem to get around 30-31Mb/s writes on this card, so it barely meets the U3 standard (cheapbloke reported it as 25MB/s though). But this card is still fine for 4K recording, and offers much better value than the Sandisk Ultras and Samsung Evo U1 cards often posted for around the $50 mark.

I got mine delivered on Friday. pretty pathetic write speed only 25MB/S Read speed is hitting 80MB/s though. I'm not happy as U3 certified should be a minimum of 30MB/s write speed. so buyer beware!

    • +5

It's a 128gb micro SD card for 40 bucks. It's an incredible price even if a bit slow to write

    • +2

No matter what (i.e. price, 4k recording), it still doesn't meet the theoretical requirement to be called a U3. BTW, I've just tested mine and not even 15MB/S during 50MB test.

      • +1

How about record a 5 minutes 4K video and check if this card is capable of 30MB/s write speed?

      • +2

Theretical requirement for U3 is 30Mb/s, which many users have seen. two reviews I linked in this post show 30MB/s and 31MB/s. Another ozbargain user also got 31MB/s write.

What do you mean by '50Mb test'? You tested it on a file that is 50Mb in size? Maybe try it on a larger file and see if the sustained writes are higher.

      • +1

Should be okay for 4K recording according to the package cover.

I ordered one after checking out one of the Aussie site selling it for $95 + 14 shipping.

        Great price.

Just a an update. I've ran multiple Crystal Disk Mark test for this card and found it might be faulty. SeqQ32T1 Write speeds are coming in below 20MB/s. I've tested a Samsung Evo64 U1 card and found it to be faster than this card.

I'll be returning it. So yes, 128gb micro SD for 40 buck is cheap but as long as it is working as claimed.

      • ill buy it off u for $20

        • I'm sending it back for a full refund.

        • @cheapbloke:
My Crystal Disk Mark scores were similar… quite low like yours but for some reason real world performance exceeded it.

        • @cwongtech:

scores were higher the first time I've tested. You can see that I've originally quoted it to reach 25MB/s write and 85MB/s read but somehow went down after I've started using the card. real world experience would be copying files directly from/to the card and it never achieves anywhere close to the claimed figures.

  • Wow that's a nice price.. good find OP! :)

  • Do you get a tracking number for your order?

  • +2

Looks like the Samsung Bar 128GB USB stick can also be had for the same price, similar to the previous deal.

  • Will this work well with the go pro hero 5 black? I'm getting my first go pro so not sure what the requirements are for memory cards.

    • highly unlikely from what I read.

      • same purpose, if it doesnt work. i might have to sell it thru gumtree…..

        • this is barely U3 and from my experience, you had that as the minimum requirement for 4K 24fps in GPH4B but this wasn't/isn't in their recommended list, given GPH5B does 4K @ 30fps, I recon it'll need to support a higher bitrate.

  • +2

tempted. i dont have go pro or need to record 4K videos, will just use this to store mp4 mkv avi etc and mp3 and play them on my mobile phone. should be fine, right?

    • +1

      Definitely fine.
Cheap 128GB U3 (barely though) card.

    • What about your smart phone, can't even record 4K video? The above posters said it's okay to play 4K video or anything slower.

      • mine is galaxy note 3 and 4 not sure if they can or cannot, but i dont care/need to record 4k. mainly take pictures/photos.

        • Fair enough. It's a bargain if you have very limited storage on your phone.

        • @PW: well internal memory is 32GB and i have put 32GB micro SD as well.
but sometimes i want to copy the whole season of a tv show instead of 6 episodes each forthnight.
i guess im just lazy? yes i am i think

nah, i will just keep using this 32GB and save some $.

        • @eisniwre:
Wait until a 256gb comes down in price and buy that.

        • @titan0r:

Considering that this 128GB card is $40 right now, it'll be a while before 256GB cards come down to an comparable $/GB value.

  • I can only get the price to £29.68 instead of £23.74. Did they change the discount code?

    • You need to change the currency from Euro to GBP $23.74 and add to cart then apply the code.

      • Thanks. Silly me.

  • can someone comment whether they've had any issues recording in 4k
I want to use this with my Sony FDRX1000V 4K Action Cam

    • +2

Go record 1 minute of footage on your action cam.
Go look at the size of the file and find out an approximate MB/s
i.e. for one minute of footage, if your file size is 200MB for one minute, then 200MB/60sec = 3.33MB/s.
      This will be plenty.
If your 1 minute footage video is over 1.8GB then this card isn't for you.

  • +1

    I paid $40.72 using 28 degrees, not $39

    • +1

The value you see online on your card as pending is not the final value by the way.

      • it shows on my 28 degrees transaction history, so it is the final value?

        • Nah.

          It'll update after a while.

          That's just an estimate.

Just a warning about delivery, i ordered it almost 2 weeks ago, they say 3-5 days delivery, but seems it can take up to 2-3 weeks.

    • +1

      3-5 days international?
Are you sure that's not for UK?
Usual delivery time for Mymemory is 2weeks.

      • Well its now been 3.5 weeks, they apologised that i havent recieved it within their timeframe of 3 weeks and gave me a full refund. I bought 4 of them for an ipod mod, they say they split it into 4 shipments, but havent recieved even 1.

anyone else had issues ? I also just noticed the price has doubled since then. They didnt give me an option of replacement, just refund.

        • Looks like yours must have been detained on Manus Island..

anyone else had issues ? I also just noticed the price has doubled since then. They didnt give me an option of replacement, just refund.

          Damn :(
I wanted to get another one.

        • @cwongtech: I cant say for certain, but when a shipment is split into 4, and you dont receive even 1 of them, then there has to be serious issues in the chain of delivery. Or it was never sent in the first place. They were very quick to offer a refund and wouldnt replace.

  • thanks OP! bought one! :)

  • Wow. Great price, how long does delivery take?

    • Around 2 weeks from previous comments

Anyone thinking of using this with a Blackvue DR650GW-2CH or DR650S-2CH - don't buy it. In mine they constantly make the Blackvues restart

    • Oh drat. Ordered it last night and now it can't be cancelled. What cards you using with it now?

      • +1

I've tried 2 types of lexar 64gb cards.
        600x uhs-i, 300x uhs-i
They seemed to work better with the 650gw better, but restarted every 20 odd mins with the 650s.

I got sick of it and shelled out for the genuine blackvue 128gb. Unsurprisingly no issues with it but ridiculously expensive.

It seems like there's limited experience with non blackvue 128gb cards on the net:(

        • Thanks for the reply.

They seem like the "Apple" of dashcams.

        • Interestingly I seemed to have more restarts after the latest firmware uodate. Before they didn't seem to object. I wonder if they did that on purpose

  • No matter how you look at it this is way better than a Sandisk Ultra U1. And cheaper!

  • I Bought them few months ago, no issue's with the card.
i have mounted it as extended storage on my Moto g4 plus thus making my Mobile storage as 128GB + 32GB.
Have many apps installed onto/ Moved onto SD card, all working good.
May be i am just a normal person who doesn't care about transfer speed.

  • Are these able to do 4K Video?

  • +2

Have to say, service from MyMemory has been absolutely top-notch…

I ordered 2 cards from them…in both instances they said if they don't reach in 21 days, I should let them know.

They sent out replacements, no questions asked; Turns out postage to Melbourne took close to 5 weeks, but I ended up with 4 memory cards instead of 2.

I contacted them back to let them know, and they said I can keep the 2 extra cards because they had written them off their stock anyway…

    • nice!

  • Thanks OP! bought one. any idea how i can set the language preferences to English permanently rather than using browser translate. Order confirmation email in Dutch as well:(

    • any idea how i can set the language preferences to English permanently rather than using browser translate.

Nope, the price only applies to mymemory.de
      There's mymemory.co.uk but it's more expensive haha

  • Just ordered one, lets hope it rocks up now…

  • -2

it is not true that it is capable for 4K recording.
in many devices the bitrate is more than 25Mbps.
In the "One Plus" mobile phones the bitrate it is 45Mbps.
I imagine similar bitrate constant or not is used from Samsung , LG etc.

    • +2

You are confusing Megabits and MegaBytes.
      30MB/s is 240Mb/s.

  • So MY MISTAKE .
    Thank you for advise.

  • saw the TGG GOpro5 deal. came back to buy this and grab gorpo as well. what a time to be alive

  • SD card list accroding to offical website: https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considera…

    chart: http://imgur.com/a/Pdc1V

*All cameras need be a minimum of Class 10. The HERO camera only supports up to a 32GB card. HERO3 Black Edition, HERO3+, HERO+ and HERO+ LCD cameras support up to 64GB. HERO4 and HERO Session cameras support up to 128GB.

  • hi guys,
what about using this in surface pros or tablet to expand the memory.
    thanks

  • Not sure how reliable this site is, I used chrome's translation feature:
    https://techtest.org/10x-128gb-microsd-speicherkarte-im-test…

It looks like there are 2 model numbers for this card (looks identical?) and based on their result m302-ea is faster and is recommended.

According to the 2nd pic on mymemory site it is m302-ea,

  • My card arrived last week and it won;t record 4K on my GoPro 5 without shuddering unfortunately :(
