  • The E6 has an integrated sound bar - so if you have no interest in that (or run your sound through an amp etc) then the B6 may be a better choice anyway.

    • And no 3D if that matters to you.

  • This is a really excellent deal. I'm looking to buy a new TV but can't decide between this or the 65" Samsung KS8000.

    • Go to see them in-store together with different material ie. free to air, blu-ray etc, preferably next to each other on the store floor and not just go by the demo content they play through the sets.

    • Also consider the lighting of the room you're going to put it in - OLEDs are stunning but struggle a bit with bright, sunlit rooms that you don't often get in stores

      • Yeah this is my biggest consideration that deters me from the OLED. Our lounge room gets a lot of afternoon sun so is really bright during the day/afternoon but then again probably 90% of our TV viewing is at night after 8pm.

        • Biggest consideration should be the gradual loss of color saturation and burn in.

why does no ones else but LG make OLED??? Is there something I am missing? I would have have thought a 4K OLED TV would kill a 4K LED TV

    • yeah I have also read quite a few issues surrounding bad pixels/stuck pixels etc etc on these displays (apparently it's a bit hit and miss).
And not just the b6, but the e6/g6 as well.

Not sure if some of these issues are stopping other makers from entering the market. I thought they would have been all over it.

    • AFAIK, LG and Samsung are the only ones who've invested heavily in OLED technology in general, so it isn't worth it for other panel manufacturers (Sharp or AU Optronics) to jump aboard with a few billion in startup. Samsung semi-released an OLED TV a while back but discontinued the line. I think they're expensive and hard to manufacture at a larger size (larger than phones, that is) and the market isn't big enough to be worthwhile. It's likely LG isn't selling the panels to any other manufacturers, so that's why there's no variety in TV models as well as panels. Plus you have the degradation issues.

Samsung is supposedly working on 'QLED' to combine quantum dots and some characteristics of OLED TV's to make a better solution overall. But it's all rumours at the moment, so it's hard to tell with no specifics. Should be released in about 2 years, supposedly.

      • And affordable 5 years after that.

      • I'm still waiting for SED 😀

        • I'm waiting for laser tv.

I was wondering the same. Thanks for asking.

Sadly, I dont trust LG one iota. Too many failures of LG in my/friends/families homes.. about 80% failure rate.

      • After LG TV and LG Mobile all failed, I'm not buying another LG for quite some time.
