Nice find!!! I'll stick with the V6 for half that price for now!! Would love this model but can't justify the price tag at the moment

    • +3

Just do it. You know you want to!

    • 30 day return period helps with any buyer remorse

      • +1

including change of mind and hassle free like ALDI?

        • Don't think it's as generous. Needs to be either unopened or in sellable condition. Check the policy linked in the listing.

    • I've actually run out of battery cleaning 2 cars and my tiled areas in my house! Loving the new v8 Animal! such a worthwhile purchase even at 2x the price of the v6!

      • Would 2 x V6 battery last longer than 1 x V8? I think v6 is 29min and V8 is 40min battery?

        • powerhead wise… the stats are like 12 mins vs 28 mins I have read and who wants to swap a battery out? is that even possible?

        • @giBzoR: I have the older DC59. It still lasts over 20mins after 2 years of use. I think it is the same battery as V6. I think people are getting confused between power head and the power boost function. When you press the blue button for extra power, battery gets drained very quickly but you get extra suction. I do not use this because I don't have a need for it.

    • I think wait for a year maybe it will come down by then

    • Where are you finding the v6 for half the price?

  • Awesome thanks for the find - was looking for this.

  • I've got bamboo floors, and want to buy a dyson handstick, but I'm getting confused over the various models. I'm worried about the floors getting scratched and think I should get a model with the soft roller cleaner head.

Have others used a particular model on Bamboo and have any recommendations they could share?

    Thanks in advance.

The fluffy head that comes with absolute is the one you are looking for.

Just be mindful, fluffy head cannot be bought as a standalone accessory. So buying animal now and then getting fluffy head separately is not an option.

      • Unless you are in the UK…thanks for nothing Dyson Australia…

    • The V6 and V6 animal main head are suitable for that bamboo floor, the fluffy's advantage is extra pick up power, direct constant contact on hard flooring and sole focus design on hard floors.

  • Thanks for your reply, I just found a good write up in one of the other threads. Looks like the Absolute it the one I need - the only question now is V6 of V8. Aside from being a newer model, is the only other factor the 40 mins use time for the V8 vs 20 mins on V6?

    Thanks :)

    • +3

40 mins and 20 mins time is when using motor less heads. With motorheads (carpet/fluffy are motor heads) it's more like 30 mins V8 and 12-15 odd mins with v6.

Bin cleaning is much easier in v8 and overall vacuum operation is quieter in v8.

If you can justify the extra $$$ for above, go for v8, else v6. :)

      • Thanks - I think I might splurge on the V8. It's crazy to get excited over a vacuum cleaner, but Dyson's are awesome!

        • I was in the same situation (new bamboo floor install) and deciding between the V6 & V8 in the last (15% off) sale.

Glad I went with the V8 Absolute. Without the extra battery runtime I wouldn't be able to properly get around the house and the 'soft' hard wood floor head is a work of art - you can really see how it would be gentle on the floor.

These Good Guy sales are fantastic - just bought a Weber bbq today ;)

        • Totally agree. I was equally excited while i was looking for vacuum. My wife agreed for DC45 but I ended up buying V8 without her knowledge. Had to a tough time explainng her why I did this. But in the end it was all worth it. Haha..

        • @lghulm:

Awesome. I think I need to hide my credit card now - too tempting!

    • can you link us to the write up?

    • The V8 is up to 40 minutes, the run time depends on the head you are using but the motor power anyways is over 50% stronger than the V6 so you can feel the difference and definitely be cleaning at less the time.

  • Is the only difference between the animal and the absolute the fluffy head?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • +1

Ive been using the non-soft roller head on hardwood without issues. Im not sure if its worth the extra?

    • +1

The animal head is the standard head, designed for both carpets and hard floor while the fluffy is only designed for hard floors but has the extra motor power inside the head which allows it to pick up stuff easier and quicker on hard floor surfaces.

  • Great find, going to ozb merge this with the CBA card for further $250 saving

    • How to get the further saving?

      • +1
        • Thanks for the link Longy

Just checked with CBA, if I apply the c/card now it'll take 5 days to approve the application then another 5 days to post out the card. By then, I'll miss this 20% deal :(

        • @SunshineSyd:
Just use the 250 on something else (I'm going to use it on a ps4 Pro purchase next month by stacking it with the blatchys 8% off EB gift cards deal), it'll still be a net benefit.

Or you can transfer to bank with a small fee?

  • Cheers on the V8 Ab. Expensive vacuum but as always, paid with Coles credit card so will hopefully benefit from any cheaper prices when and if they come by within the next 2 years.

    • That's not bad, 2 years price protection.

      • Sounds good although I've found the exact models are usually discontinued after that amount of time. On saying that, I've made substantial savings with the price protection feature assisted with a price watch site. Plus it allows you to buy the item when you want it with less worry about it dropping in price soon after (from the same store chain that is).

The merchandise protection is a well used feature too. Easy claim process although I haven't used it since Coles changed insurers.

        • Wouldn't you have to pay for the item in full on ur CC?

Your using PayPal with this deal?

        • @abzolutely: using cc via PayPal is fine

  • was spewing I missed out on the Bing Lee one - but now found this… picked one up, thanks OP

  • I was after the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Allergy. It is also available for 20% off. Original 799, you pay 639.20. (Not including cashrewards) Thanks!

  • Guys, hopefully someone could help clear this one out for me..
Purchased a V6 stick with the goodguys (in store).
We used it once, but was not really impressed with the battery life.

Now my question, after using it once, can i have this returned/replaced with a different model?

Called the store and was told that i cant do that. Any chance that they could be wrong?

    • +2

Nope, most stores like Good guys, Harvey's, etc have the same kind of rule unless it is faulty on arrival (the minute you open it up and they see that themselves), they do not accept returns or exchanges on change of mind. The only way you could is if you were missold an item with wrong information (say a staff said it can do so and so but it actually doesn't or they say it comes with so and so but it doesn't).

Some JB Hi-Fi does that though on certain products but then they put them back up on the shelf at the same price with just a massive sticker saying it was previously open (which would put off other customers so you can see why stores don't really like to do it).

All V6 run for 20 minutes, 6 minutes on boost, the box says that so don't think you can get away with that excuse I am afraid.

If someone in the store told you, you could clean the whole house in that runtime, then maybe that is enough to use as a valid reason?

      • We were in a way informed about the 20 mins. Actually for me its not that bad. Just the wife whinging that the battery runs out that fast (20mins).
But yeah should be fine if its not really possible.

        Thanks for that mate.

        • +1

Ah okay, it was always marketed as a spot cleaning product anyways was never designed to replace a full corded vacuum.

Is she a thorough cleaner regardless of how strong the vacuum is? As with people with that kind of cleaning style won't suit 100% well with these but if she can remember to leave the thorough cleaning with the main vacuum and have this for the odd mess, you are good! Can even do the whole place within 20 minutes and still pick up everything (emptying a few times) on your cleaning style I reckon!

        • +1

          @cortex21:

More of a thorough one mate.
Will be shopping for a cheaper option of a bagless that will do the normal once a week vacuuming.. 😜

        • +2

@Macky1012: it's a good excuse to stop and have a beer half way through…..

        • +1

          @albanyson:

Spot on. If thats the case, i will always use the max power mode, so i would have a beer every 7 mins.. Lol

    • +1

If you didn't use it then yes you probably could. But since you've used it - don't think so.

  • I just need the hard floor one. So o can get the cheaper one?

Will my v6 attachments fit too?

As far as vacuums go that guy Dyson makes some pretty awesome
Stuff everything is just nice and carefully crafted. I would t be surprised if his first name is Miles. If u get the reference.

    • The cheaper one has the head primarily for carpets but can do tiles. It can do wooden floorboards, but there is a small chance (not guaranteed) that it can give small tiny scuffs on floorboards, the same marks you will leave with constant movement over them with your shoes, you can't see them unless you are putting harsh light near it and you are looking really closely but other than that if you are not bothered with that, it can still do hard floors.

V6 attachments will not fit unless you have an adaptor which they will release soon.

  • For the uninitiated, the V6 series actually made me enjoy vacuuming our apartment. I still don't really understand it, but I would recommend buying one if you can afford it.

  • Will Harvey Norman do price match? Need to use HN gift cards

    • I suggest try. I rang a couple purely out of interest and although I didn't have success over the phone, I had a feeling they could of matched but I didn't push it as I had no incentive. I was more looking for a $650 or below figure.

    • Varies on the store manager to be fair from experience, if the day looks really quiet for them, higher your chances lol

  • Purchased the V6 Animal yesterday for pickup from a store. Wonder how hard it would be to cancel my order without needing to go pick it up then return it? Unfortunately no contact number on Good Guys website makes it hard.

Edit - Cancelled pickup fom Frankston store and picking up V8 Absolute today :)

  • Ahhh!!! Removed just as I was about to order!

    • Get Miele.

      • No Miele models similar to these 2 that I can find.

        • Yeah, you won't find a cordless.

          Try Vax.

  • We missed the V8 Ultimate too after having it at the checkout stage last night. Wanted to run it past wife to double check its the right one she was after. Jump online to purchases today to see they have ended it due to "error".

How likely is it they put it back up with the discount? wait or get the v6 on special?

    • I rang The Good Guys and the guy said he wasn't sure but it was possible the v8 could go back up. Just said to check each day. Might just hold out and then grab the v6 towards the end of the sale if it is still in stock.

      • Damn I was going to pull the trigger today too but disappeared from my cart. Any one had luck with TGG honouring the discount for walk-ins? Or perhaps another retailer willing to price match?

  • We'll if anyone notices it come back in let me know and I'll do the same :)

  • Any idea if this will come back in stock?
