I have ordered this once before from Telstra online and never got it. Took almost 2 months to get a refund too :(

But lots of others have had success so YMMV.

That's happened to me previously. The most annoying thing is that you'd have to personally sign for the package. Doesn't matter if another family member is at home.

      • Had the same issue too, though my dad got pretty angry at the driver and made him leave it.

Use it as play store credit?

    • +1

I would also like to know…

    • I got one of these from the same deal last month and used it all for Pokemon Go and still had 3GB of data to use. So unless it has changed since then the answer is yes.

I don't think any of the new prepaid plans has Google Play inclusions…

        • -1

Should still be fine i think

bought both the phone kit and tablet kit last few weeks, both came with full $30 using bill my telstra account. I choose beyond talk for the phone kit. Anything NOT "pre-paid plus" should be able to get the google play credit (bill my telstra account).

        • +1

Thank you for that info. I can confirm that on the Prepaid Plus plan I was unable to use credit for Google Play purchases, and an agent also confirmed this with me verbally.

      • Was that before Telstra changed from the "Freedom Plus" to the "Prepaid Plus" plans. I can't do anything with Google.Play now that they've changed their plans.

Unless I transfer the credit from the new starter pack, onto my phone, which is still on the "Freedom Plus" plan.

  • When does this expire? I have a friend travelling to Australia in January who needs a prepaid sim to use for data and if possible international calls to Argentina. 3gb would suffice - any recommendations?

    • +1

This. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269107. Offer expires today. No calls to Argentina - but use whatsapp etc.

      • Cheers - just ordered one for him. Does anyone know what expiry date the boost card has to be activated before?

      • I believe he means what is the activation expiry date on these SIM card starter packs?. Every Telstra SIM has an activate sim card before date.

    • Telstra Sims last 2 years from production.
      You can activate it later.

      • Yes. And so it depends on how long these SIM card activation packs have been out the back of a warehouse for. You could buy it now and find out that the SIM activation expiry date is only 3 months away, sort of thing.

Coming from Telstra is a much better source than a supermarket who may have had them for ages in their cupboard..

        • @cwongtech:

Thats why you look at the pack before you buy it.

There should be a date somewhere there.

        • @garratt torlesse:
Not if it comes directly from the telstra warehouse.

Can confirm. Got mine today and expiry is 27/09/18.

    • 3gb will not be enough if he will be using lota of VOIP and snapchat and instagram. For someone who just arrive and have limited access to WIFI i would recommend getting optus $60 plan comes with 11gb and lots of unlimited international calls and $20 credit for international calls.

      • Can a non-resident sign up for a postpaid mobile plan?

        • the optus plan is prepaid :)

        • @Bnjam3:

Cool. Did not know that. Thanks!

These are always good, but these Telstra offers seem limited to one. Better to wait until Coles / Woolies / Aus Post/ Officeworks offer the same, I think.

    • Managed to make two orders of one last time and they delivered it.
Haven't tried more than that though.

  • I still have 2 packs for use since last promotion at Coles. It was a better price.

  • I am waiting till the $5 promotion which last Coles ran at the end of last year. That was a bargain. The hard part was finding stock.

    • Got as many of those as I could. And there was a crazy $1 deal a few months before or after. Still have some of those to activate - expiry end 2017. Not holding my breath for any more $1 or $5 deals though - and probably not $10 either. Would be very happy to be proved wrong, but I'm guessing those days are probably over. Half price still ain't too bad though.

  • +1

Good price but I refuse to buy any $30 starter kit unless it's $10 or less

    • I am waiting for $10 or less for too long :(

Vodafone's starter 30/40/50 is also 50% off at Woolies til Tuesday.

You also get 2Gb on top as well.

    http://www.vodafone.com.au/media/2gb-extra-data-for-vodafone…

Just activated a 50 dollar on PAYG Plus with 1 yr expiry and 1 yr expiry on the 2GB as well.

  • Is it possible to get more than 3GB of data on the Pre-Paid Plus? Can I use $30 of "credit" to purchase additional data packs?

    • The $30 credit in Prepaid Plus can't be used for buying more data. This feature was removed from Telstra Prepaid about 2 years ago, I think.

  • Extract summary of new PAYG Plus data-power plan by Vodafone LTE, not too shabby…

    Your remaining balance:
    My Credit: $34.00 Exp: 12/10/2017
    Data Daily Add-on: 4.00 Gb Exp: 15/10/2016
Bonus Data: 161.01 Mb Exp: 09/11/2016
Account Expires 11/11/2017.Call 1555 for more information. Thanks from Vodafone.

it'll work from buying Add on ($3) 2GB at the start of every 2nd(or 3rd) day,
that’ll keep the GB-rollover accumulating, 2G+2G+ .. per dataday add.
SIM kit bought through eBay as best offer~ 60% off @AU 16.00 ftw
    2GB +< 26GB from SIM credit, total.

^Next best thing vs transferring SMS's for data glitch-triggered bonuses with Telstra, merrily last year. :)
