    I bought one from the last oz bargain deal dropped 16gb ram 4x 4 to wd reds and changed the CPU to a Xeon E3-1230 v2 and used the same heat sink. Running freenas Plex vpn and using as a storage device. The good thing is I am running it as redundancy so if I loose one drive the server keeps chugging along and I just replace the drive and rebuild it.

        No it's not, FreeNAS benefits more from RAM then it does processing power, but I would definitely recommended upgrading the CPU to at least an i3/i5.

          Thanks for the response. I guess that would depend on what you want to use the microserver for, i3/i5 might be overkill for some purposes.

          Correct, I picked up a cheap i3 for mine and I don't think I'll need anything more powerful for a while.

      @denist, just curious to know what the total cost ended up being for all your upgrades, RAM and CPU ? The Xeon E3 v2's seems difficult to find.
      …and are you running RAIDZ,Z2 or mirrors?

    Ordered the Micro server, and i took the option to have the extra RAM.

    Micro server arrived at my local big w, and I've collected. However the extra RAM has not been supplied.
    My eBay messages have remained unanswered.

    I ordered the microserver on 20/10. eBay said it would be ready for pickup in store on 25/10. The store says I will get an email when it's ready for collection but I haven't received anything yet. Can you advise if orders were shipped or are they still waiting to be shipped?.

    I have also ordered a Microserver and a stick of ECC ram on 21/10. Currently I have collected the RAM as it was ready for collection on the 28th but the Microserver is not even sent yet according to eBay, very disappointing.

    Like the poster above, can you advise if orders were shipped or are they still waiting to be shipped?
