  • Is this similar to EC's earlier deal?

    • Yes, exactly the same deal.

    • Interesting that it's exactly 6 months 2 days after EC's deal, so not a dupe.

Also intersting that OP didn't think it is a deal as well, from the lack of upvote and these comments:

Amaysim is great with their regular 30-50% and even more first month promos, but not so amazing ongoing. I would never pay $44 for the popular 5GB in real money.
I think an actual penny pinching student would be more likely to be on to the "port the next excellent first month promo with whichever company was cheapest" system or better still wait and grab six $5 Telstra and six $5 Optus or Voda and oscillate porting between them, always having a "welcome month" Real savings to be had that way. 10% off? Very so-so, bordering on meh.

Sorry EC, you are quite right about the larger allowances but I think students are a bit more savvy than a 10% off deal. The Uni students I know would port carriers in a heartbeat, so I think the pile of $5 starter packs scenario above is more likely.
$36 buys a lot of 2 minute noodles.

        Yes, quite right.
Still, it may be of use to some.

I do agree that it's pretty good if you don't port, but as a high school student my budget does force me to port between providers.

@lyl: I reckon their $24.90 ($22.41 after discount) plan for 1.5gb is pretty decent value for low data users. Got two family members on it and they have never gone over haha. For higher data users the $40 ($36 after discount) 10gb plan through Optus is good value but just depends on what your needs and coverage is like :)

        • @ShamelessBargains:

Or you could go with Jeenee and get 2gb for $18?

I guess the main difference is that referrals will be left to "random" so that any referrals generated will be evenly shared across the community. Fair for all.

      • Amaysim takes up to 5 days to port a number and will continue to charge you until they port it. Other providers do it in a few hours so be careful if you want to port to take advantage of deals. Im currently stuck in this process and they wont do anything to help.
