  • Might be worth mentioning what resort(s) it is near to.

    • Useless website. Says Nagano prefecture down at the footer though. Never heard of it… possibly gets very little snow and lacks any good runs.

      • +1

Nagano is pow haven. Includes resorts like Nozawaonsen and Shigakogen.

Its was also host to the winter olympics. Madaraokogen is smaller of the 2 but only a short bus trip to Nozawaonsen.

The shinkansen takes you directly from Narita to Iiyama which is the city at the base of both mountains and the stop to get off for either resorts

        • Compared to say, Rusutsu, Nagano rarely gets good quality powder. It's great when it does fall, when it's not wet, and when it doesn't white out, but there's only a handful of fantastic days each season - at least in my experience.

Thinking of heading to Nozawa Onsen just for the apres. Mate showed me a video of himself skiing there on a ridiculously flat, boring run.

Staying on topic, you must be Mr Moneybags to stay at this hotel long enough to guarantee yourself any powder days. I suppose that's why Aussies head north. As much as I find Niseko boring as shit, at least it snows heavier and more often.

  • Bah, ignore me ….

  • "Active Life Madarao offers ski-to-door access from Madarao Kogen Ski Resort, a 3-minute walk away" So it is Ski to Door, but it is not your door… so you have to walk for three minutes. That would make it NOT ski to door.
