PS:there is no brand new stock in Adelaide, so mine is delivered from VIC,so i am guessing the price should not only limited to MYER Adelaide.

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/samsung-ua78js9500-78inc…

    Not really that old model.

    • brand new, heaps other modles available

      • Hell of a price then.

      • if you saved $12,000- it would have been $0?

    • 47KG TV weight

  • Anywhere else?

    • i will suggest call around, the one I bought is delivered from VIC, I guess other stores could do same price.

    • See if its available online, they have free delivery over $100

  • +28

But TVs need electricity to operate!

    • +5

We've plugged the extension cord back in, so it's all good until the cat trips over it again.

      • +9

Is the extension cord connected to Victoria?

    • +3

Pedal power. But then of course you need to pay for the calories to feed such activity; no free lunch.

  • Any chance we can order for delivery from interstate?

    I am based in Sydney.

    • mine is delivered from Vic, suggest vist local store ask price match.

    • +1

See if its available online, they have free delivery over $100. If not, call them.

  • +30

Well done OP. I guess there has to be some benefit to living in adelaide

      • +31

House prices are also around 70% off in Adelaide (relative to Sydney).

        • +3

That's insane. Too bad the job market for my industry in Adelaide is poor at the moment.

        • You should post on ozbargain?

        • +3

          @tony abbott: Electrician?

        • +5

Minister, they are all based in Canberra

        • Theres a reason for that…

      • -2

        LOL

      • +2

Disappointed, these comments are really funny. Can people not take a joke?

    • +6

      Less traffic and congestion.

    • It'll be stolen within a week

    • +32

I've been to every state and South Australia is the most beautiful and peaceful by far.

      • +3

"I've been to every state …"; but you haven't been to the ACT! Visit Canberra and you will change your opinion :-)

        • +2

Never takes me more than 15 minutes, I'll trade that for being in big city traffic anyday.

  • Are they closing down their electrical? Cause from the look of the customer numbers each day in the Myer Adelaide store I don't think they get too many customers. The staff are resorting to chatting in a group when ever I go up there.

    • +10

Chatting in a group is standard operating procedure for Myer staff. On the very rare occasion I visit Myer to buy something, I notice there are no staff at cash registers and the store is devoid of customers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Myer is closing its electrical department. The only items that appear to sell well are clothes and cosmetics.

      • +2

Can you blame them chatting to each other when customers bark when being greeted or when the store is dead quiet? You try working in retail for a day and see if you end up being guilty of what you perceive as ignoring customers….

        • Yes, I know I go "Woof! Woof!" when any Myer staff walks up to me.

        • +1

          @Diji1:

          Good boy

        • +4

IMHO that still doesn't excuse you from doing your job. There's been many times when I've tried to purchase something at Myers and I can't even find a staff member at a cash register. Even if the store is dead quiet, it seems fundamental that you are able to let customers purchase goods.

        • @engineeringprof: That's different not finding staff but to bag them out when they chat to each other then that's false. Selling times are between 12-2PM (where all stock work must not be carried out)…

      • +15

Last time I went to Myer, I asked the guy in Melbourne city store to price match some wemo bulbs, which I had brought to the counter. He refused (which is fine), but then he was quite rude about it, like I was asking for the world, and literally took them out of my hands and guarded the bulbs, without even considering that I might buy them anyway. Last time I shop at Myer unless I am using points on my Amex.

        • +3

I know, its like every single person who works at Myer across the world is that very same guy who was 'quite rude' to you. There are no other people working at Myer so there is no doubt you will encounter the same result every single time.

        • @dtc: yes google Meyer cloning program thwarts union
Guarding the precious is a highly regarded genetic trait in retail
          I didnts . I wasnts master
Also good for your mad scientists offsider
Such as your Igor, eddie obid, budgie 8, minions ect

    • +1

You do know DJs haven't sold TVs for eight months now? Also we don't price match on clearance items.

  • +30

Did you just impulse buy a $6000 80" curved 4k TV?

Honestly amazing, hope you love it!

    • +45

thanks, i will try to enjoy it without thinking it worth as much as my car

      • +5

If it makes u feel better, my Aldi 65 tv is worth more then my car. But the car paid for itself by fitting the tv in it.

        • -1

The fact that you don't know the difference between then and than is the reason you own an Aldi TV.

  • -4

For the love of god list some other specials!

    • +10

Why? He doesn't work for you

      • It would be nice to know as I am going to Adelaide Saturday and hired a van for a few other items and have enough space left for an impulse to purchase

    • +2

there are quit a few modles, because the price is not on display, have to ask staff for price, did not take any photoes. if u in the market for a tv, suggest check in have a look, price from 400~6000, all at nearly 70% off the retail.

      • Thanks, I'll go in for a look Saturday but I'm guessing the cream will be gone by then

      • +4

Dick Smith of old strategy: don't display discounted prices and force customers to beg staff for a reward….good to see it's still alive!

  • +2

    well done OP.

  • +14

For those who just spent their rent money, I hear the box is reasonably sized if you end up needing a place to sleep.

      • 145000? What sort of TV is that? :)

    • +5

        • +8

i think @savas means that he should have negotiated for it to be done for free?

either way it was coming from VIC so no way OP would go pickup.

        • +1

When I bought mine (but 75Inch) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227184, saw they managed to get only 3 in the vehicle…
