Seoul $269 - $285 Return: Virgin/SQ: Feb-Mar 2017@ IWTF

1570

Jumping on the crazy cheap airfare bandwagon, I noticed return flights to Seoul were pretty cheap as well, and doesn't look like it has been posted about yet.

Similar date period - travel Feb/March 2017.

Melbourne (MEL) to Seoul$269
Adelaide (ADL) to Seoul $276
Brisbane (BNE) to Seoul $277
Darwin (DRW) to Seoul $284
Sydney (SYD) to Seoul $285
Perth (PER) to Seoul $285

Here is a selected $269 return example.

Happy travels.

Edit: Looks like fares are slowly getting ozbargained. Example fare has gone up to the staggering price of $294 this morning. Just jump on the iwtf search engine to see if the flight you want is still available.

Edit2: Most dates are being reported as gone. Still worth trying your luck through other flight search engines or the airline direct.

Great find OP! I was wondering if anyone found deals for locations that are a bit warmer in Jan-Mar … all the deals so far have been very temping to visit again, and are absolute bargains at the moment!!

  • niceeee

  • Damn those layover times.. such a good price, not enough time ;_;

    • Layover only seems to be 90min for flights from Perth which is not that bad? Haven't checked the other cities though.

      • Ah, should of said departing Brisbane. Still such a good price.

  • Has anyone determined if these are error fares or not?

    • +1

I think it's definitely an error. Hope they honour it

      • +2

Just booked, waiting for my confirmation email now.
Edit: received confirmation email. Was booked via BYOjet

  • This is crazy !!

  • +1

Crazy deal. Would love to stay much longer in Singapore though (as a layover). Miss their local food :)

  • So are these considered full fare tickets or discounted tickets?

  • T^T

  • WHAT is going on, hope you guys booking get your tickets honoured! :D

  • wow that's cheapest I've seen

though some of those connecting flights are really bad…

arrival at 12am in SG, flight not till 7am to seoul. What to do for 7 hours?

    • +2

Singapore airport is the best airport in the world, even with a 24hr cinema and 24hr foodcourts, there is plenty to do :) I had a 5hr stopover recently and it went 'too fast'!

      • +1

Same, had a 4hr stopover and nearly missed the plane because I was having too much fun, then had to sprint thru about 2 terminals…

  • Looks to be a pricing error. Tried to book and Expedia said that the price has been jacked up to 1.1k return from 283…

  • 253 through Singapore Airlines.. can you get cheap flights from seoul to tokyo?

    • Nope. I tried..300+ even though they are so close.

      • Did a mock-up for aug dates and was $556 from Perth to Osaka with Singapore :)

      • Edit: Ignore this comment

    • yes if you fly with Eastarjet - check out their fares

$235 in September during school holidays. Booked for 2 Adults and 2 kids for $1005 including cc charge. Flight date 23/09/2017 from Brisbane, return date 28/09/2017 from Seoul.

    • Unheard of…

    • thats such a good deal! but in terms of timing, I feel that 5 days is sort of a waste of the opportunity being so far away from home

  • +2

booked confirmed! I choose singapore airline though, I think for 10 buck more better choose non-budget airline, am I right??

    • +1

The flight is codeshare, you're on the same plane either way. Plus VA is a full service airline (and VA international is actually quite nice).

      • But there must be some minor difference right? Othwise I just waste 10 bucks..

    • Issued by VA operated by SQ ?

  • Ahh do I book France or South Korea?

  • Just booked! Some of the flights for virgin and singapore airlines are at the same times, they might be combining flights? :o

  • Just booked return trip in September (14th to the 27th) for $288 from Melbourne. Only 2 hour layover in Singapore each way. Great find OP!

    No direct flights…

  • Amazing prices, always wanted to go to Korea!

Never seen prices anywhere close to this, especially not with Singapore airlines! Looks like the flights might be full with ozbargainers in February ;)

  • Can this be used for cheap flights to Singapore by not actually making the Singapore to Seoul and then Seoul to Singapore legs of the trip or does your ticket get cancelled if you don't complete the whole journey

    • The latter, you'll have the return leg cancelled.

      • Thanks for your reply. Not a good idea then.

  • Wow what a price just booked in September school holidays 23rd Sep to 28th Sep for $1098 return 3 adult and 1 child, can't wait for September 2017. Shopping, food and sight seeing…

    • I was there same time this year. Good time to go :)

      • thanks for feedback

    • Looks like we will be on the same flights. ☺

      • Wow, happy ozbargain in Seoul

Happy to share ideas with you about this travel.

  • just booked on may via BYO jet, 2 adult 1 child $753 (via paypal no additional charge)

    • can i ask when booking via BYO jet… does it mention anywhere what the luggage allowance is? i just realized that after i booked my tix O.o

I got virgin as my flight.

      • yes, it's 23kg virgin airlines flight operated by singapore airlines

        • fiuh!!! was so hasty i didnt check the luggage allowance… Thanks :)

      • Virgin international will include luggage.

      • try retrieve your booking details on virgin website it will show you your baggage allowance. Mine said 30kg I suppose because the route is operated by Singapore Airline. Yay!

    • To whom it may concern, have you received a booking confirmation email? I also booked through BYO, but no email yet. Warm Regards.

      • i received confirmation booking straight away along with virgin booking code

      • I got mine straight away too after making the book. Have you received yours yet?

  • Awesome price, hope its true

  • Ok. That is a crazy price.

And of course I missed it.

    • Still flights.. no idea why it says expired.

  • aghhhh gone :(

    • +1

  • I just booked, two weeks in march for $285. See if it gets honoured.

  • Hey guys, am I able to retrieve flight details via Singapore/virgin website once booking has been confirmed?

  • +1

Definitely not expired, just booked Feb 4-10 MEL-ICN for $320.

EDIT: I went through STA Travel, received confirmation. PNR not yet working on VA website, hopefully will soon.

EDIT2: Itinerary confirmed on the VA website, not sure what fare bucket but all looks good to me.

  • Got to checkout for 2 tickets in July @ $300 each, was browsing for better dates while in checkout then all the Virgin flights disappeared .. went through with the July booking. Gonna be hot!

  • When do we find out whether it will be honoured?

What can we do if they don't honor it? Can we take them to court

    • +2

Do you think taking them to court will result in a bargain fare?

They have lawyers on staff…. Do you?

  • Puket is available for 450 AUD In august .
    Not bad! at all

  • I manage to book and received Order Reference, but waiting for the actual e-ticket

    • +1

        • Am l missing something, u got free upgrade?

  • +1

Guys, book directly on VA's website.

$299 per person including credit/debit surcharge.

    From Sydney in Feb 2017.

    Happy days :D

    • +2

From Brisbane to Seoul, I'm seeing they've all changed to unavailable.

Booked instead via Expedia. Hoping it gets honoured. $680 total for 2 return Bris-Seoul in April.

EDIT: The upcoming flights have been ticketed and appear in my Velocity account. Eek! High likelihood of being honoured?

  • Hi,

Does anyone know how I can organise a longer stopover in Singapore during the first leg of the flight prior to connecting to Korea?

    Thanks

    • Book it as multi city

  • Booked Puket trip August 2017 for 450.
Not a super bargain but still good value! good connection to Phuket, 55 Min stop over only

  • awesome prices.

    seems still active

did a search from Bris return-

  • Your flight reservation is pending

"Your credit card has been charged for the original amount, please contact us immediately at 1300 014 402 or +61 2 8880 0392 (open 24/7) to complete your reservation." flyfar.com.au

If they couldn't make the reservation, then why did they charge my credit card? Fraud?

  • Virgin and STA we sold out or 404ing. Managed to scrape through on Expedia for $350 return in Sept to Seoul 15 mins ago flying with Virgin/Singapore.

  • Any descent hotel deals for Seoul? If my flight reservation goes through, I assume I will need a place to stay. Feb in Korea is still too cold to rough it on the street.

    • Metro hotel in myeongdong is my go to place in Seoul.

    • Check cheaptickets.com with 18% off.

  • Singapore flights coming up as virgin.. hmmm…. should i just go for it???

    • +2

      Definitely!

      • theyre going really fast O.o

        I cant keep up @.@

Edit: Finally bought my from BYOjet. They dont change and its tad cheaper too. KOREA Here i come!!! (well next year xD)

  • Everytime i try to book, the price changes when i confirm my payment..

    • Yes, Expedia jumped twice when I was booking. Must be a popularity algorithm. Not sure where they are getting seats from if Virgin are saying they are sold out.

  • can we have a longer layover? like 1-2 days? would it cost extra?

    • it would cost extra. usually a fair bit extra (as in , these tickets are supercheap already so you'd probably pay the same amount again to have the stop over)

      • oh ic…bummer….:(
I just dont know how to deal with the 7+hrs layover with a young family…

        • +2

singapore airport is really nice. plenty of things to do there. Check it up on google the things to do at singapore airport :)

        • @piggiepanda: agreed. terminal 2 has an awesome vegetarian restaurant . there is the butterfly enclosure and a few other things. you can always get a taxi into the city and look around for a few hours and back to the airport. (not a massive nor cost)

        • There's plenty to do and see in Singapore Airport http://www.changiairport.com/en/airport-experience/attractio…

It's a very nice airport, lots to do and see. If you're up for it there are free tours to see Singapore http://www.changiairport.com/en/airport-experience/attractio…

Probably one of the better airports to have a long layover.

  • when do these offers expire?

  • +1

I was able to get Mid March $287 return all inclusive with Expedia just then.

  • just booked SYD-ICN through byojet..

had to pay a bit more - $348 because a 35hr trip is not acceptable LOL

got 2.5 hrs stopover each way :) for an extra fifty bucks or so .. well worth it

  • Perth to Seoul $300

  • Thanks OP!! Booked for $341 with 2/3 hour layover in Singapore from Brisbane.

  • woooooo! Been waiting for a good deal :) glad I held off on those cheap AirAsia ones! :D

Any recommendations of what to do/must go in Seoul?

    • +2

Myeongdong market is a good place for food.. Lotte World and Neverland(?) are good theme parks i heard…

Also visiting jeju island is nice but far from the seoul…

      • Everland is quite far from Seoul but worth it. Just don't go on a national holiday.
