HDMI Cable (1.5m) - $1 @ Officeworks

610

There have been previous posts regarding HDMI cables at Officeworks at the regular price of $3.98 for 1.5m, as linked in the deal here.

However, I have now seen in two different Officeworks stores that there may actually be two types of 1.5m HDMI cables in same basket. The second type actually scans in at $1 per 1.5m cable instead. Obviously this will depend on whether your local store stocks both models or just the $3.98 ones.

The tips to finding these are the following:

  • The $3.98 cables have a product code near the barcode HD015. The $1 cables have the product code HD15BK.
  • The plugs on the $3.98 cables are more square, while the $1 cables have dimples/dots on the plugs.

Here's an extract of the receipt, and photo of the cable for those who prefer visuals: http://i.imgur.com/lVx4Hlm.png (for what it's worth, there was only 1 cheaper cable left at Castle Hill a few weeks back, most likely gone now)

I can't vouch for its 4K functionality as I don't have a 4K TV, but works fine for PC and Fetch TV Mini. Either way, hope this deal helps those looking for cheap HDMI cables as spares for the house.

Receipt is over 2 weeks old. Are you sure there's still stock around at this price?

    • +2

Yes, I verified the price at another store today (Blacktown), and there was still stock there. It's not advertised so I doubt many know about it.

$1 HDMI cable, I'd be typing it up in the carpark.😂

      • How much stock would you say is left? I won't be able to go until 430pm… :/

    HDMI v1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/2.0?

    • +1

The packaging doesn't say, but if I were to guess it'd be 1.4, as the cable itself has Ethernet printed on it.

    • That is just wrong. The cables should say Standard, High or Premium.

High is good enough, but if you're after 4k + HDR then Premium is what you need for the bandwidth.

HDMI revision numbers are not relevant for cables, high speed HDMI cables should work with 4k but are not guaranteed to work, premium HDMI cables should work fine for all formats, premium HDMI cables should have the premium HDMI logo as shown on HDMI.ORG if it doesn't have the premium HDMI logo it would just be a high speed HDMI cable.

    That's probably its true value.

    • But Monster cables are $200! Are you saying that this $1 cable is just as good?

      • ¿Dónde?

        • ¿Dónde Que?

  • Sorry if it's a bit off topic but any chance of some 3m micro USB cables for tablets and smart phones but high quality thick wire gauge so no drop in charging speed.

  • It shows me 3.98

    • Me2. Gimme me the direct link and I'll +ve vote.

      • Pretty sure the op said it was marked as $3.98 but scanned at $1.

    • My god!

they're also selling 5m hdmi cables for $8.88, which I think anybody picking up a classic nes tomorrow will need.

I sold one of these today: the linked Comsol branded 4k 1.5m cables today and they scanned in at $3.98. Will check on for product code PDT on Friday to check if this deal is real and if there is any stock.

  • Got to watch out the store doesn't get stormed by Africans looking to steal Dr. Dre headphones like the one in Melbourne did recently…

  • Shame it doesn't include the HDMI Mini Cable. I could do with a cheap one for a Raspberry Pi Zero.

  • Cheers OP, grabbed a couple from Epping, VIC

  • 7 left in Glebe. 2 Bondi Junction and Newcastle West. That's all stock in NSW.

  • Just got a couple from mt. Gravatt branch QLD. The plastic wrap says 4K ultra HD and Full HD 1080p as well as HDMI with Ethernet.

Lady at counter says these are run out and will be deleted from their system and not restocked anymore.

Probably will be replaced by newer flat HDMI cables.
