Anyone else remember when the MEGA sale was actually MEGA?

    • was it really a deal or they just advertise the fare price excl the tax, etc?

      • AA has always advertised prices including tax as far as I can remember.

Start of 2015, people were getting $70 return to Asia.

        • That was great. Flew to Phuket for $180 return

remember paying $160 mel-kl return when they launched. never again.

Thanks for this. I forgot to get my flights from KL to Sydney after new year. I'll wait until tomorrow to book.

    edit:
    I'm confused.
    Fare From: AU$ 165.00
    Travel Period 10 November 2016 - 31 March 2017
    Promotion ends: 13 November 2016

at the top it says: - MEGA SALE booking period: 14 November 2016 - 20 November 2016.

    So which is it…?

I've logged in and out, and tried without logging in, but I'm getting same prices 864 MYR

    • yupe same here…. it said if we are a member, then we can book/see one day early, but i can't see any promo price unless it is for the fare only

      • also, i think 2016-2017 promo ends today (13 nov), and 2017-2018 promo starts tomorrow (14 nov).

I tried both promos 2016-2017, but nothing works even though I'm logged in as a member. I can't find any cheaper fares.

        edit:
maybe no promo for 2016-2017 available for my needs.
as for 2017-2018, i think it's because it's still 11:05 pm Malaysian time

        • but i am in Sydney it is now 2.11AM I tried with or without member login but same price. Anyone please help to clarify

        • @Kalibener: wait until 3:00am and try again. should be midnight in malaysia.

        • Can we buy it now? I cannot see the payment link :(

          @zolinger:

Their website is under the pump already - all I get when trying to search for fares is this - http://i.imgur.com/87dKXcD.png

  • Is that price also include Airport tax?

I can't see anything in the website for that price.

  • Hey guys, just wondering… if you wanted to go to KL from Melbourne, with these options
    Melbourne ► Kuala Lumpur AU$ 229.00 10 November 2016 - 31 March 2017 and Melbourne ► Kuala Lumpur ► Singapore AU$ 179.00 10 November 2016 - 31 March 201, why dont you just buy the second option and jump off in transit

    • You should.

Even better, you could hunt around for some of the $160 fares to bejing.

  • For those of you looking to book with Air Asia at the moment and have a card with no currency conversion fees, the Air Asia AUD-YEN rate is quite favourable :)

Edit: They got rid of paypal, so it's probably just better off using Poli Pay to avoid CC fees, unless of course you wish to get travel insurance with your credit card.

    • I paid using PayPal. Perhaps different flights have different policies?

  • There are some free seats available using BIG redemption search. Eg, KL to Johor Baru for $0 + 10 MYR tax.

No one seems to do deals for April any more. Bah.

    • +2

A rough guide to their high seasons. January, April, Late June-Early July, Late September-Early October, December.

  • Notes.
$167 Syd - Kul seems reasonable.
They have certainly pumped up prices for the high seasons. But I still managed to get SYd - Dmk return Jan 2018 $496 including overnight stopover KLIA2 where I will sleep in Sama Sama Hotel inside terminal with brekky - $120, then day flight. No overnight flights Win- Win. Total $616.
Paypal seems to be only an option for flights originating in Aust.
I usually book outwards leg from Aust. using Paypal. And then separately book return leg in foreign currency with my Citibank plus card with no conversion fees. Saves about $A7, over booking 1 return booking, and also gives me a little flexibility if I need minor date change.

    • Where were you on Tuesday when this would have cost you $365 flying on Singapore metal, that was a win.

  • Is this promo working, getting same price as member login???

  • I'm unable to verify my newly created BIG account.. any ideas on a fix?

  • Thought I would ask.

I have used my credit card in a couple of weeks until I bought an Air Asia ticket yesterday morning (sunday).

Today (few minutes ago), an attempt at fraudulent transaction was made using my cc (I got an sms with code to enter on website to complete transaction when I wasn't making any transactions). I called my provider to cancel and re-issue cc. Has anyone else experienced anything similar using AirAsia?

Further details of other recent transactions have been:
    cheapoair
    vietjet air
    air asia (an older transaction)
    amazon

Don't have other transactions than the ones above in last 4-5 months or so.

    • Never had the fraud thing happen. But often when using my Citibank Plus card with AirAsia I have to input a verification code (Received by SMS)

I wouldn't call this a Mega sale. More of a Mini sale.

  • Got myself PER - TPE return for AUD401 in Dec 2017. Pretty good deal me thinks.

  • Their Web site is going very badly. Initial problems at 3am Sunday, but was good by 5am. Now that Asia is awake and 'online' it is not coping well with the non-members who are now accessing the sale.

  • Logged in, follow all the prompts, cannot find these flights @ this price.

    • They limit the number of seats that they sell at their 'best sale price'. These may be more limited, or snapped up quicker for 'High Season' / 'periods of high demand'. IE ya gotta be very quick.

  • AirAsia now has a lounge at KLIA2. Mezzanine Level (Airside) Satellite building. It provides free food and beverages. And pay for acohol. Free entry for Premium Flex guests and Premium Flatbed guests. Others pay for entry RM79. Pay at lounge reception.
