LG 65" B6T/C6T OLED - $4695 (Including Free Delivery and Installation) + $300 HN Giftcard (Normally $5996) @ Harvey Norman

610

Insane price on B6T (flat) or C6T (curved) OLED TVs.

These TVs deliver the best image quality of any TV you can buy right now. OLED shows real black because there isn't any backlight - from that you get so much extra detail in the dark colours. LED backlit TVs just don't cut it for detail anymore - especially if you like watching sports and movies.

$300 giftcard can be used on anything in HN store - good deal to grab a 4K Ultra HD Bluray player or TV cabinet. OzzyBargainers should be able to eek out a few family presents from the $300 giftcard.

Free delivery is available for houses 15km from the store.

    Insane. Yep.

  • When does this start because the website price is $5,995 with a $300 HN voucher?

And not sure what you mean by cash voucher?

    • Should be $300 HN Giftcard. Not a Cash Voucher.
I expect HN website will update by lunchtime.

Hey I hear these have very bad input lag for consoles ie ps4 pro.

    • +5

Yep. Not a viable option for gaming at the moment, unless they can get that latency down.

      • +1

oh good to know..! backing away slowly .. lol

        • +2

I also agree, at the moment these TVs have significant input lag, it is very noticeable coming from a TV with little to no input lag. I play shooters on PS4 and the lag is noticeable. Even on game mode. Fantastic picture quality though

        • +1

@harro son: damn… what bothers me is that i pay 4k+ for something and everytime i see this issue it'd just piss me off to no end… when i pay that much for tech i dont want any down sides .. otherwise i'll pay half that for a mid range tv!

        • @harro son:

Is it really noticeable? I was actually thinking of getting this panel (I currently have a Samsung KS8000) but this is scaring me off a bit. Maybe worth waiting a year or two and see if the lag gets better.

        • +2

Actually the input lag of the C6T is pretty decent @ 34ms. HDR lag is a little on the high side @ 67ms, but still playable for most games. Currently a change.org petition to implement a HDR game mode: https://www.change.org/p/lg-electronics-hdr-game-mode-for-lg…

      • +3

According to rtings.com, the input lag on the B6 in 4K mode is actually quite reasonable at 38ms. It's 1080p upscaled that is laggier at 60+.

For reference my Sony 8500c LED is 58ms @ 4K. (And was an unplayable 90-100 before its patch)

        http://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag

      • +1

@fatboyj - where did you read this about PS4 Pro, or other consoles RE: input lag? Same with you @magalini @harro son

Very interesting comments. I agree, you pay $5K for a TV and deal with input lag, noticable to gamers at the very least - is unbearable. Save the cash and go for 1080p if 4K doesn't mean that much to you…

        • rtings.com 4k.com, they have many reviews. Samsung have the best input lag and seriously if you play fast paced shooters(Overwatch) you're going to die lots with high lag.

    • Dealbreaker!

    • C series shouldn't have this problem IIRC?

    • You and Broden ;)

    • +1

I totally disagree 1st time viewed a 4k 50 inch I could tell the difference from 10 metres away.
This maybe true if your eyes are imperfect but having worked in AV distribution industry I can't handle crap AV reproduction now. Check out the cheap 4k tvs at BigW, the line doublers are awful. My Pioneer Full HD TV and Media Centre PC is still great but not a scratch on the best 4K TVs around now.

    • +2

Is that 10k across 30 Amex card?

    • +1

This is such a common complaint that is 100% innacurate. I have two 50"s and one 4k. The older one looks so grainy and pixely, even watching high quality content. You definitely can tell in normal viewing and 4k upscaling of 720p content even looks fantastic.

      • 100% innacurate

        :D

Anyway, could it be the upscaler is better in the newer one? I always thought that if you have had two TVs of the same generation, with same picture settings (but one FHD and one UHD), playing the same high quality content, you can't determine which panel is which at a certain distance, (depending on the size of screen, ie distance increases with screen size).

        • Correct. there is a point at which viewing distance of a low res and high res shows no distance.
This is where Apple brought in their 'Retina' branding, for what they believe is the optimal res for the average distance a user is viewing away from a certain device.

Check out the graph here http://www.144hzmonitors.com/knowledge-base/screen-resolutio… which shows a "worth it" for res x distance.

      • No, it's basic science

  • Hey there I haven't seen any 20% Ebay specials for HN

How about a deal on the other LG 65" screens.

  • +1

Managed to negotiate a deal for $4700 on 65C6T 7 days ago in HN (and used Amex dealx2 as well). Time to get my $5 back and $300 voucher, Thanks OP.
After a week of gaming, watching movies etc I must say this is a brilliant screen. In gaming mode you'll get 34ms input lag which is not too bad. Infinite contrast and true black without any light bleeding whatsoever. Not to mention 3D on this screen is amazing too compare to my old LG 55inch LED.

    • +3

I believe the input lag increases significantly if you're trying to play an HDR enabled game (1080p or 4K). Those modes are a major reason to update to an Xbox One S or a PS4 Pro.

      • +2

Yes. Input lag in HDR is a bit high(67.5ms). Personally I can live with that compares to the benefit I get from OLED screen. Maybe not for FPS gamer.

    • How is the day to day TV which is on Standard mode on this TV ? I had been looking and many review says that up scaling of Standard TV is poor on this TV. Just want to check your experience ? Thanks

      • Upscale to 4K is awesome to my eye, even if the content is 1080P the image still miles better than Full HD TV. I don't watch free-to-air TV much but when I do I only watch those 1080i channels.

  • +4

Jesus I hate comments like these:

"LED backlit TVs just don't cut it for detail anymore - especially if you like watching sports and movies."

The top LEDs TV compare just fine to OLED. I'll admit the OLEDs are better but to say stuff like LED tv's don't cut it anymore is just rubbish. The black levels on the top LEDs are more then good enough for 99% of people and so is watching sport. And yes I have watched both LED and OLEDs extensively.

Rant over - otherwise pretty decent price. Just hope they keep coming down as 6k was a bit overprice imo.

    • +2

actually people have a false impression of blacks when they are more of a dark gray
when you do a side by side comparison of any led and plasma/oled it is really amazing the difference
i watch heaps of stuff on my lcd monitor and my brain sees blacks as black but when I switch signal to the plasma I see what I have been missing
But you are right most people accept it and also most people have no idea as they have never done a proper side by side comparison

its a good thing for you to mention God rather than any mention of muslim prophet or leader in the same context is NOT allowed here
another place where christian is ok to target but not sacred cow of islam

Cthulhu, I hate comments like these:

      • +1

        Lol, status. smh

      • +3

Yep nailed it mate. Also in my spare time I walk into Ferrari dealerships and moan to the sales man about their cars being on par with my Mazda.

    • +2

That may be your opinion but personally once I experienced plasma and then OLED black, I didn't go back (to LCD). Everything just looks better to me on an OLED.

      • My point was I agree that OLEDs are a better TV and have better blacks, but I think people that make out that the difference is massive and you can't watch LED after an OLED is taking it too far. Go look at some of the reviews for the top LED panels on rtings and hdtvtest, and they all attest to black levels being very good on the LED panels.

Anyways I don't want to get into a LED vs OLED war. I am actually looking into getting an OLED panel as my Samsung has an annoying micro stutter issue with Foxtel that is more irritating then any black levels, but I might hold off until input lag gets better on OLED as my Samsung is epic for gaming.

    • +1

Jesus I hate comments like these:
"The top LEDs TV compare just fine to OLED"
The top OLED TV cant be compared to LED on paper unless you see them side by side. People who buy them know what they are buying. Like I used to love my LG LED TV unless I saw had the Sony LED and could see the difference in quality and blacks.

It is a great price I would say. People thinking to buy, do your research, look at them and buy.

  • +4

    I will buy one when it's $1695 :)

    • As a Professional, I will buy one at $169.5 @ 3am

    • Won't be long, give it a couple of years.

    • -1

As an Ozbargainer, I will buy one when it has an incorrect price and is $1 or less.

If I was ever going to spend $5k on a new TV, this would be the deal for me!

Anyway, back to watching 720p low-bitrate streaming episodes on my 14" laptop screen.

  • +11

Who would rather spend $4500 on an awesome holiday? :)

    • This. definitely.

Why watch destinations on TV when you can actually visit the destinations for 5k!!

    • +4

A TV lasts a lot longer.

      • +4

An experience lasts a lifetime a TV last 10 years?

    • $4500 will get you one destination, TV will get you unlimited destinations:)

      • +1

Only if you have planet earth on blu ray

        • +2

          I do :)

  • +12

The blacks in the OLED really shows and distinguishes those colours very, very well. I love the OLED. It's one of the things I look forward to when I come home is actually being able to sit on my couch in front of my OLED TV.

    • I've never seen an OLED TV before, but I'm picturing a massive version of a Samsung phone? (those have oled screens)

      • +5

hah, he's quoting a cringey LG ad

      • -1

Samsung phone/tablet screens are actually terrible for video because it's too saturated.

Aren't they a different type of screen anyhow? AMOLED?

    • I was going to say, "These are great for watching hip hop music videos as the blacks show up very, very well."

      But I won't.

    • Do you enjoy watching cardoons on it?

    • +2

@adds02 Thanks Davey boy. is it true that, if you weren't still playing cricket, you'd be working at Woolworths? ;)

    • +1

Has anyone even got this haha

  • 8 bit or 10 bit or 12 bit panel?

    • 10 bit

  • what a bargain

  • +3

    David Warner Approved

  • -6

Also bear in mind these are the old models - the new models are E6T and G6T. These are immediately distinguishable due to them having a soundbar.
Despite what the salesperson will tell you about these being the current models - they are not.
They even go so far as to not list the new models on their website.

    • +1

B6T, C6T, E6T and G6T are all the current models.
E6T and G6T just have picture on glass design.

      • G6T (when you do a side by side comparison with the B6T on the LG site) looks to have the sound bar, HDMI 2, 3D, additional remote.

That's what's on the site, but would the B6T really not have HDMI 2?

  • Can confirm. Cardoons so black cops want to beat them.

  • LG E6T was selling for 5995 last week at Harvey Norman - RRP 8399, normally 7495.

    • +1

Same at GoodGuys and $4236 for the 55E6 at the Good Guys last week.

      • but Good Guys only have a Price Match - not a Price Guarantee. You can actually go back to Harvey after you purchase the TV and ask for a refund of difference if 7 days before or 7 days after the date of purchase, you found that there was a lower price from a competitor.

  • Harvey Norman has a Price Guarantee of 7 days before and 7 days after. This means if you purchase today at 7495 - you can ask for Price Guarantee given it was 5995 last Sunday - and you should be able to buy the E6T for 5995.

thanks Op got couple to use as my 3rd and 4th monitor.

    • +4

Great price, having one installed in my bathroom so I can watch judge judy in the bath (me in the bath, not judy).

      • good idea, I guess i will get one for dunny as well to watch some cricket

  • +2

Thanks! This will be perfect for the guest bedroom.

  • cheap as!

  • I'm very tempted. I've read that the tilt indicator for a lot of HN stock was triggered. Can OP verify and if that's the case upon delivery and install, do I have the right to reject goods?

  • Can't justify this until I get there NBN. Realistically, I just won't have enough content for it. At least that means I have to wait another for years and by that time I'll be able to snap up a 70"+ for ~$2000…

  • Anyone know if they ve slashed oled55bt 55" prices? Bought one on Sunday. :(

  • Why is refresh rate "N/A" on hardly Normal's site?

    • +1

OLED's don't use a standard Hz refresh rate, as normal TV's do. They instead are given a response rate/motion rate in ms(Milliseconds). On paper, an OLED has a response rate of 0.002ms whereas you traditional LED/LCD will have something around 2-4ms. Different technologys so Hz doesn't apply to OLEDs

    • Up to 240hz interpolated.

  • Are there any other deals I can use on this tv?

Pay with Amex or use a cc which has price guarantee? Or cash rewards?

    • you could buy it at the good guys, then show them this, get 120% of the difference back.

i wouldn't do this, but it should work

  • How does this compare to a Samsung plasma f8500? Is it worth the upgrade?

  • Good question as I have that exact tv too

  • $4689 at Bing Lee

  • Awesome TV.
    Good review here

  • Any good place to see and compare OLED vs LED TVs properly with both cheap and expensive brands?

I want to see what all the fuss is about with TVs that cost up to five times more than other TVs and brands.

    • At my local JB and Goodguys they are side by side
You need same footage and you need to check out the black levels
Be aware the bright showroom and the tv actual picture settings and the video being looped all make a difference

most people are used to lcds and have not seen what real deep blacks look like so therefore blacks to them look black

      • Would you personally pay more than triple the amount for the extra quality? How big of a difference is the jump? Is it more like 720p to 1080p or 1080p to 4k?

I want to do some mainly nice gaming and decent movie video content watching and wasn't sure if I would really see much of a difference.

Basically which TV panel etc technology right now is the sweetspot for decent movie TV series content and gaming? I mean I now it is still kind of early game until the next big thing but do the budget versions hold their own compared to the premiums?

Btw how would you compare or explain the different levels of blacks? Like deep space pitch dark black compared to?

        • You really have to go into a store and see it for yourself.
Rich blacks bring contrast and whites to life.
But it really isn't worth the premium unless you can easily afford it.
I have the one of the best plasma TVs so I can wait it out.

It's very different to a resolution jump. Many if not most 4K blurays are horrific upscales, tv is poor quality even a lot of 1080i broadcasts, Netflix and YouTube 4K is compressed heavily and 4K gaming needs a massive investment dependant on games and frame rate requirements.

Also input lag is another factor for gaming but this concerns only some people and it varies between every tv model even sometimes between the same model but the different screen sizes.

There is an option for you to look for a second hand plasma if you do your research and get a good deal but this will limit you to 1080 res. I have played a 4K LG TV Oled demo file on my 1080 plasma and it is one of the best images I have ever seen on any Tv ever.

Some 55 inch oleds have been around $3500 I think but maybe this is too small for your needs. I paid $3200 around 3 years ago for my 65' plasma and 4K still has no real use for most so I really bought the best of the last plasma at the right time.

LCDs have made good advancements with black levels even though they are still far behind. The only exception I know of is the sharp elite which actually had better blacks than plasma but cost around 10K

If you try google images for LCD vs oled black or check YouTube they can demonstrate a simulation of black level differences just keep in mind you will be viewing it on a LCD but since it is simulated it might give you an initial idea.

Stick to your budget. Get a good size screen without terrible input lag and consider HDR. Read reviews and understand the pros and cons and you should be good to make an informed educated decision.
Last but not least these 10-20% off deals are so common make sure you try to buy when eBay or the retailer is having one of these sales.

After the gift voucher I don't understand why you say it is 3 times the cost unless you are comparing it to no name and budget 4K TVs which have horrific image quality but maybe only noticeable when side by side or if you have a keen eye.
I have expensive bose headphones but prefer to use cheap apple headphones so my ears are not very discerning unlike my vision.

        • @thelastnoob:

I have been considering the quality difference to the other end of the spectrum ie the aldi bauhns and soniqs

They have been going for around 600-800 and which for me seems like a very reasonable device for a purely 4k large 55-65" screen

I think some even said they have reasonable input lag for gaming of course noting else as it is a very cheap TV brand but say compared to some of these oleds I am wondering if viewing some high quality content would make a major difference say to justify a spending of a few more thousand

I could theoretically I mean hypothetically make an 8k 130" screen maybe lol for roughly around the same price haha lol

        • -1

          @AlienC:
Get the Aldi TV because it comes with a 60 day return no question asked policy. My friend returned 2 or 3 tv just for personal usage. Give it a good testing and return if you are unhappy.

  • just picked one up at Harvey Norman Dandenong negotiated a better price than that. Thank you guys for the help its a great looking TV.

    • Would u mind sharing your deal price, since I was looking to buy 1 as well :-)

  • Would it be worth getting the HN extended warranty for $550? (5 Years IIRC)
