        • @Vaya Ian Fagan: were all LC charged a $20 fee?? I will create a ticket anyway.

        • @nubzy: They charged $18 to my account. Anyway I got both amounts back today in accounts.
To be honest, I never had any issues with Vaya support. Call or chat and got my issues sorted.
So a Plus from me now as the plans they are pretty good. Unlimited M with 2 GB data and unlimited calls for $15 is best value for money.

        • @Vaya Ian Fagan:
Hey Ian, not sure if you'll see this since the post is old, but I'm an ex customer who is tempted to return with these deals.

I'm trying to use your "Contact Us" page to get my old security deposit back first. The form isn't working… (submit button gets stuck on "Loading")

Is there an email address I can send my query to?

PS. My vaya account number was 528306.

  • What happens if I go over my data limit on a particular month? Does it cut off or go to pay as you go rates? Thank you

    • Hi edwink, you won't be cut off, instead, additional data usage will be charged out at $10/1GB.

      • +3

Which sounds good until you go over on the 29th by 400 Kilobyte's :p

  • Does this plan have roaming? Kogan's plan doesn't. Thanks

    • Hey, this doesn't include roaming.

  • Hey Ian,

Currently have an Amaysim service that I'd be looking to port over. Would I need a new SIM and how long would it take for me to up and running?

    • Hi ddp3, you will need to purchase a new SIM through the Vaya website https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Mobile. We have an express delivery option ($10) or standard delivery (free). Express will deliver your SIM in 1-2 business days, while standard will take 2-6 business days. Once your SIM arrives, you can activate it online easily and as you are coming from the same carrier (Optus), your port can take up to 3 days, however, normally takes 12 hours to come through. You won't lose any service though as you can keep your amaysim SIM in your phone until it cuts out and when it does, that's when you know the port has been processed and you can pop your Vaya SIM into your phone.

Let me know if you need a hand with any of this.

      • I hope customers from live connected can be ported to Vaya?
Secondly is it possible to show love to the existing customers or they have to port to amaysim or similar sim first and then port back to vaya?

        • Hi,

Liveconnected customers can port to Vaya and still claim this offer. As for existing customers, this is for new services only, so it will work if an existing customer adds an additional service.

  • Looks good.
Just a couple of things i noticed, that you guys might want to be aware of before signing up.
Change of Number (assuming this is a number port?) - $27.50 …and I thought TPG was bad, charging $11 to port out.
Change of Plan - $5 …if you decide to change to a different plan once the offer is up after 12 months.

Otherwise these prices appear to be a better than a few others I've considered.

    • +1

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify, the change of number fee is not charged on sign up. This would only be if an existing customer wishes to change their number. So you can port your number over to Vaya at no extra charge.

      Cheers, Ian

      • is that means if I port out my number later from Vaya to others( e.g. telstra), I will be charged $27.50??

        • Hi bctransit. You won't be charged for porting your number elsewhere if you decide to do so later.

      • Thanks for the clarification, even better that there's no port out fee!

        • Hi OP, Do you know if customers have to give x days of notice to leave Vaya or Live connected before moving to another provider? How long these new plans will be for?

  • +3

I was with vaya for around 4 years and recently changed over to Kogan. Vaya reception is good(same as optus) but Vaya had no interest in keeping a loyal customer for 4 years. As stated above they rater look at getting new customers not condescending the customers they are loosing. My partner also made the change as there are better offers out there.

Vaya needs to make these offers available to new and existing costumers just like kogan does.

    • +2

I hear you LCR13, except my experience was with Amaysim. I asked whether they are willing to match the offer from Vaya or Kogan Mobile and they said no. So it looks like jumping ship to either Vaya or Kogan Mobile then re-assessing comparative value at the end of the contract period (as with almost everything these days - health insurance, energy plans, etc).

    • Does any other company do that? I am with TPG for years and they charged me for home moving fee where Optus used to waive off. Wanted to switch to a better deal(free international minutes and national calls) they were doing and they said no. It was for new customers only.

    • exactly. making the move tomorrow.

  • I've always talked positive about you guys, since I cant jump on to this deal it just hurts me.

    • +5

Same. Will most likely move to Kogan at this rate.

  • Hi Rep,
I am currently with Live Connected, I would to port my numbers to the advised plan. My questions below
    1. Will there be any downtime for me porting from existing old number?
    2. Do I need to get new sims?
    3. When my data exceeding the quota, will it be capped and unable to use data or I will automatically billed for extra data?

    Thanks

    • not with Vaya but:
1 - generally no downtime, from personal experience, and from what I've been told by various carriers when enquiring about switching.
2 - usually they send you new sims, although they have the same owner, they're still different companies with different plans etc
3 - rep confirmed above that you'll be charged once you go over

    • Did this a few weeks ago for 4 phones.

      1. Only between the time the new service becomes active and you switch the sims over.
      2. Yes. In the mail within a few days, once you get them you begin the port process.
      3. I think it is $10 per 1gb

What annoyed me is that LC said they are going to send a final bill when the phone wasn't used during that month. Hopefully they pro rata it or not send it now I moved to Vaya.

    • Hi,

      1. There should not be much down time at all, as you will keep your existing SIM in your phone until you successfully activate your new SIM. You will be able to tell your new SIM is active when you lose connection on your old SIM and when this happens you will pop your new Vaya SIM in. It should be up and running almost immediately from here, however, if you are porting your number over, sometimes different parts of your service take a little longer, i.e. Talk and Data may work but SMS is still waiting. In this case you can turn your phone off and on and it will help register it to the network. This should not take long at all though.
      2. You will need to get a Vaya SIM, which you can order online here https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Mobile
      3. You will be charged $10/1GB for additional data usage
    • Cheers, just ported mine and the boss over!

  • Thnx

  • Is there any unlimited international plan (especially to India)? I'm looking for something like Amaysim provides for $24.90

    • Hi ns77, if you are after plans with international inclusions, we recommend amaysim. Our plans are more suited for domestic use only. You can check out our international rates https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=International%20Call%20Rates.

      Cheers, Ian

      • Hi rep, are these prepaid plans or arrears biling.?

        • Hi bestbuddy, they are not prepaid plans as you can still incur additional usage costs if you go over your inclusions but yes, you pay upfront for the plan.

  • Can this plan be used for a data only sim in my ipad?

  • -2

Vaya systemematically overbilled my data meter, so at the end of the month I was 20MB over. Then they charged $10/1GB additional data usage and wouldn't waive it.
Before that there was the $20 deposit rort.

    • So you spent over your data limit and want Vaya to waive off your charges. Additional charges are written against the plan. Deposit can be refunded now. Just ask as per Rep's comments earlier. Not a valid negg.

      • I was only over data according to Vaya's data metering. Never had that badly inaccurate metering with any other provider.

        • Does data spending matter on what provider you are using???
If you use more, you pay more.

You can check data on your android phone. Mine was never wrong in last 3 years. They pass it from Optus and you can always check it online with the account.

  • +1

Is there anyway to cap the plan? This would be an awesome offer if my teenagers could be risk free. Similar to how Woolies does the no bill shock thing.

    • Hi ghatch,

These are postpaid plans, however, we do send usage alerts at 50% 85% and 100% so that you can stay on top of things. You can also toggle your data on and off, so if you receive an 85% usage alert early in the month then you will be able to turn the data off for that service in My Account. Let me know if you need help with this :)

      Cheers, Ian

  • When does this promo end? I was about to get my partner off vaya. But if this deal is still going I will port out and then back in.

    • According to the terms & conditions, the deal ends at 11.59pm, 24 December 2016. However, it also says "Promotion Period and terms and conditions are subject to change."

  • No option to be cut off once data runs out?
As another poster mentioned, I would hate to tick over my limit on the 29th…

    • Hi brettmo,

We send usage alerts at 50% 85% and 100%. You can also toggle your data on and off in My Account, so if you receive an 85% usage alert early in the month then you will be able to turn the data off for that service. Let me know if you need help with this :)

  • Hi there, I signed up yesterday (Sunday) so I haven't received my sim or activated yet. Is it possible to change it to a 12 month plan to get the discount? Can your customer service arrange this?

  • My wife is with liveconnected (your company) and has international roaming activated. Am i able to port her number across and she will still be able to use international roaming?

As i see that new Vaya customers according to https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Roaming are not able to set up for international roaming.

    Please let me know

    • Hi Delboy,

You won't be able to turn international roaming on. Our plans are more suited for domestic use only.

      Cheers, Ian

  • Seems Vaya has no concept of loyalty to Existing customers. Time to go Kogan for same deal, except Kogan also has visual mailbox - bye Vaya!

    • Most companies don't, you have to usually threaten to leave.

  • As a couple of other posters have asked, is there an option to cut off data when the limit is reached instead of automatically adding a $10 data pack (and then manually adding the data pack if needed)?

    • I would like to know too.

      • Hey guys,

We do send usage alerts at 50% 85% and 100% so that you can stay on top of things. You can also toggle your data on and off in My Account, so if you receive an 85% usage alert early in the month then you will be able to turn the data off for that service.

The $120 plan (which is advertised as $10 per month) then says the annual minimum cost is $174. What is the additional charge of $54 for?

    • Presumably that's in the second year when there is no more honeyyear discount.

      • Hi guys,

Thanks for this one - that is the normal (off promo) cost of the plan and it seems we missed this. We will correct that ASAP but to confirm, the minimum cost for that plan is $120 when you use the discount code.

        Cheers, Ian

  • hello Rep

    is call forwarding include?

    thanks

  • Can you activate it later? My contract ends in January.

    • Hi Duoka,

Yep - you can purchase today and activate at a later date.

      • any update on the call forwarding charge?

        • It is the cost of a normal call. So if you are on an unlimited plan and forwarding it to a standard number then there will be no charge.

    • Hi Duoka, I just wanted to clear things up on this one. If you are porting, then you can activate at a later date. If you are getting a new number, your SIM will automatically be activated after 7 days from when the SIM is dispatched.

  • Hi Ian,

I've read somewhere there is a fair use policy of 4000 minutes a month so if my teenager goes over this talking to her friends will the service be terminated?

    • Hi Kimmyyeah89,

This is considered excessive usage under our Fair Use Policy, however, we won't terminate your service.

    • +2

you know your sons an idiot, take his phone off him and send him outside into the real world

  • call forwarding charge? diversion charge?

  • I just signed up for the S plan. Not very impressed with my initial contact with your customer service department. The first lady just wanted to get me off the phone in a hurry without properly answering my enquiry.
I was asking for was a copy of the payment invoice which I still haven't received.
I didn't even get a payment reference number or a computer generated invoice which is why I just called up because the money came out of my account straight away.
The second lady couldn't give me an ETA for the sim card to arrive but re-assured I will get an invoice via email once the sim card arrived.
After one week if the sim card doesn't arrive I will keep calling.
The process could be smoother and transparent but instead I have to keep calling which might seem annoying and it ties up your CS reps but ultimately it's the system that is failing.

    • Hi there,

Can you please PM your account number and mobile number so I can look into this.

      Cheers, Ian

  • Store Rep, can you do anything to get existing customers on the deal?

  • What is the most cost and time effective way to port out and back in?

Using Kogan sims to port without topping up apparently caused nerve-wracking delays (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/262112?page=1#comment).

And is a pro-rata refund given?

  • Does anyone know what would be the best way to join?

I have 3 sim (me, my bro and gf) i know there is $15 referral, but someone mention there is $25 Ozbargin referral ?

  • Hi Ian, I want to sign up 2 numbers porting from Live Connected. If I sign up online tonight (28th), I am hoping to get the sim by the 30th (Sydney) and activating it. If the porting gets delayed and goes into November, Live Connected to bill another month of usage. Does this get prorata credited from Live Connected?

    • How did it go? Vaya charges you for the whole month regardless of how much was used so I imagine you can get nervous porting out (LiveConnected used to give a pro-rata refund).

  • What happens if they close down? Is this a smart/quick way for them to get a bunch of cash?

  • If we port out and port back in would we be considered a 'new' customer and thus be eligible for the deal?

  • It says in T&C "Limit one per customer"
I have 2 services one being used by me and one by another family member but both numbers are in my name.
How to bring 2 services across?

  • Who cares about old customers…

"We understand that allowing new customers to claim a promotion can leave our existing loyal customers feeling a little left out and we are sorry that you feel like this. In the Christmas spirit we have decided to throw something out there to our potential customers believing that our current customers are already on one of our awesome plans and unfortunately it happens that the XMAS promotion doesn’t extend to you."

  • Is this offer still available? Website appears updated and prices have increased?
edit: oops, make sure you guys use the xmas code. still valid

    • Hi there, use the xmas code and shoot me a PM if you are having trouble with it.

      Cheers, Ian

        Hi Ian,

If we port out and port back in would we be considered a 'new' customer and thus be eligible for the deal?

        • +1

Yes, I have just done this…

      • Bump…

diddy bump dee bump dee bump

  • Hey when will this deal end?

    • Hi there, it ends on the 24th of December :)

  • Hi Ian,
Is this offer being made available to existing customers?

    • Hi, this is for new services only. Existing customers can claim this promo if they are adding a new service to their account.

      • Understood.
I have been a Vaya customer for 3.5 years, always paid on time, even when my monthly payments went up, without notice. When I enquired as to why, I was told that I was on an 'old' plan that doesn't exist any more (except, obviously, for billing purposes) and to go on to a 'new' plan, which would give me more data for less money, I would have to pay a fee — even though I had never agreed to be on the 'wrong' plan in the first place.
I might add here that my wife and 2 sons are all on Vaya, and have been for some time. So I assume that none of them will be able to access this offer either — because they are existing customers, not new ones.
So, let me ask: if you were in my position, where a phone company I have given money to for years — and recommended to my friends — places a premium on, and offers a discount to, the customers of other phone companies to entice them to jump ship, and expressly prevents me and my family from enjoying the same offers, what would you do?
        Really, what would you do?

        • Hi branners,

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to hear that you feel this way about our current Christmas promo. Sometimes we have different offers for new customers and existing Vaya customers. We do have quite a few offers that are aimed at our current Vaya customers - for example, our Price Beat Guarantee. With our Price Beat Guarantee, if you spot another sim only (non promotional) mobile plan out there with the same voice, text and data inclusions as one of our Vaya plan, but at a cheaper price, we’ll match that price for you (for as long as you stay with Vaya) and give you a month for free. We know that the typical Vaya customer is with us because they want great value prices, which is why we think the Price Beat Guarantee is such a great one. You can find out more on our website at: https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Vaya%20Price%20Beat%20Guaran…

We’ll take your feedback about this Christmas promo on board though and factor it in when planning other promotions moving forward.

        • @Vaya Ian Fagan:

I'm sorry but you're preaching to the wrong crowd with the "Price Beat Guarantee".

How can I price beat another plan when all phone companies intentionally make deals with obscure structures that can never be compared apples for apples. How do you compare costs when another company allows international roaming while Vaya doesn't for any money? What if I pay less for international SMS with another provider but everything else costs more, yet I might use my phone for mostly this purpose? How do you compare the value of your $650 in Monopoly money with all its complexities to another MVNO that may have an even more complex arrangement of their Monopoly money? What if after normalising the Monopoly money amounts for calls only a domestic flagfall ended up being higher but the call rate was lower? Or vice versa?

Now that calls and SMSs are becoming unlimited as standard you can compete on data but let's not pretend that this is nothing more than a marketing mind game.

        • Just port out and port back in as suggested above.

Perhaps the rep can shed some light on that option.

But ultimately I've trialled a Vodafone sim and in my location it is no worse than Optus, so I'm just going to go Kogan and not waste my time with this mob.

I, like everyone else moved to Vaya due to competitive prices, so when they are no longer competitive you move onto the next thing - if Vaya does not value their customers, why should we continue to support them? It isn't like we're opting to pay more for better service. And as peterpeterpumpkin identified, the price match guarantee is irrelevant.

  • Is there a charge for call forwarding to Australian mobiles or landlines on the unlimited call plans?

    • Hi yoyomablue, no there is no additional charge for call forwarding, assuming you are forwarding to standard numbers.

      Cheers, Ian

  • Just ported my kids'numbers from Aldimobile. They both start high school next year so this will be good for them and their parents can keep in communication when we need to. With a share to facebook, you get another $5 off the first bill per service so $115 for 12mths 1GB data, unlimited calls and SMS is pretty good. I unticked the option to have 1GB packs automatically added if the kids go over.

  • issue solved

  • +1

I thought I would mention this as a follow-up, for what it is worth.
This was not quite a Peter Finch Moment, when I yelled, "I'm as mad as hell and I am not going to take it any more!" but it might be as close as I get. As per my previous post on this thread, I was not happy that companies like Vaya (and other telcos, I am not singling them out) appear to have a policy of getting new customers on board via sweetheart deals, and virtually ignoring their existing customers who, like me, have been rusted on for a while.
After I posted that comment, I downloaded my angst to my wife who listened, as she often does, and then suggested that we do something about it.
So, we went through everything; electricity, gas, house insurance, car insurance, credit cards and, finally, phones, looking for a better deal.
Some of the suppliers ranted and raved about loyalty and, but just before we jumped ship, they came to their senses and offered discounts. Them, we kept. Others, who were more stubborn, we changed.
I reckon that we will save about $1600-$2000 in the next year, just by auditing what we spend on things that we have to have, and being judicious about getting a better deal.
Oh, I swapped mobile phone companies this morning. Even for an idiot like me, it was a snap, took me 23 minutes, from getting the SIM out of the packet to having coverage with the new mob. And that included putting the SIM card in backwards. Because I am a new customer, I got a great deal.
I might stay put for a while, or maybe I will become another company's new customer in a few months. That seems to be the best way to do things, and what the phone companies want me to do.
And if I change telcos again there will be plenty to choose from. Nothing starting with 'V' though…
