LOL 'Go easy on me, I’m an England supporter…' .. quote of teh day. thanks for the bargain !!

    • +1

i will have to judge him harshly because of this fact, lol

      • +3

Oh come on! Did you see them play on Sunday night? I did. Isn't that punishment enough for me?

        • They beat us in cricket…. Yeah like infernal_max I'm gonna have to judge you harsly on this :P

  • Added a pic, can't use the media loader from iPhone apparently

  • 4-1!
then agai u are beating us 3-0 in the cricket…..

  • Very tempting but I've already forsaken consoles for PC gaming.

  • Positive vote for good ninja shoots in the middle of HN~

  • Can this be J-tagged?

    • Not sure, you'd have to check the build date.

They are all however drive firmware hackable, meaning that you can play backups burned to DVD. http://muppet-modding.com for easy guides and help on how to do it.

      • link is still dead bra…

  • Wish these were JTAGable!

    • Oh so they can't be JTAG'd =(

  • Terrific deal!

  • +1

    what is JTag??

    • +1

somewhat similar idea to psp firmware hack~

  • any games included?

  • What store was the price drop at?

The Marion SA store won't honor this price!

    • Garden City

  • Good deal but i think it's not good as this one: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27061

  • They must honour it

    • correct me if im wrong, but the fact harvey norman is run like a franchise, means stores arent obligated to meet the specials if they choose not to

      • Only if it's in the contract or fine print somewhere.

Most stores would be forced to, else some would refuse to run specials they aren't going to make money off; which would then piss people off if they saw a special on TV etc but the store wouldn't honour it, and they'd lose business in general.

        • Every franchise has a pricebeat guarantee anyway, so even if they're difference franchises withing a reasonable distance of each other then they have to beat the price anyway?

    • Just walked out of the Marion store empty handed, they refused to honor the price. They had it at $185

  • I can confirm that Garden City in Brisbane has them at $168 (or did on the weekend)

  • I thought the HN rep said that other HN stores had to price match each other during the PS3 Slim fiasco we had here a few months back?

    • fiasco, is probably why the hn rep said that, they atleast dont want a repeat of that I guess, but without knowing otherwise, i wouldnt expect to get the special, until I had actually paid for it with hn

    • That generally relates to widely advertised (eg. catalogue) deals that stores are supposed to support (unless specifically excluded) but being franchises can choose to do what they like until you drag it to the attention of HN head office and only then if Gerry gives them a call to avoid bad press. We are talking about Harvey Norman here…

  • Tempted to get one as a spare…

  • I'm tempted to get one as a spare spare

    • I'm tempted to get one for live

save your $$ for kinect guys, and get a thrill talking to your xbox

    • I thought kinect is coming out next year… and if you cannot save 168 by then…

      • end of november according to game's website

  • +1

Yeah end of November and to be honest I wont be getting it, it looks like shit. Basically an eye toy in my opinion. I dislike motion gaming, wish I never bought the wii that's gathering dust already. There's no way that thing will be accurate enough to use with a FPS. I will go with Sony's Move probably, if only for the Time Crisis: Storm Razing and the fact that that MS want AU$200+ for their eye toy.

Xbox 360 is a kick ass online gaming machine with awesome FPS games (amongst others) but I think they have taken the wrong direction with Kinect.

    • im sure for actual gaming it will be bad, but it will still be a nice toy to have imho

  • For those in WA, Harvey Norman City West are also doing this deal. Just mention OzBargain and they will honour the deal. The sales guy said "City West Harvey Norman is the best and we'll price match any store" so keep him honest!

    • What was the build date on the Xbox?

      • There were heaps at Garden City QLD, looked at a number of them and all are early 2010 build.

        • Does that mean they are all jaspers?

      • Feb 2010, they were all new ones. All 12.1a.

They also have about 20 120GB elites for sale. They will match the $249 JB deal (Forza/Halo bundle + 120GB elite) and they have another deal, $299 for a 120GB elite, + Forza/Halo bundle + Alan Wake.

    • Arhh just called them they refused to match the price

      • +1

Crap, HN O'Conner matches the 148. Hope the other half dosent look under the bed…

  • I’m tempted to get one as a spare

    • +1

thats a dangerous game, i have 2 spares now :) and iam tempted to get another.

      • +2

With their shape you could put a plank on top of 2 and use it as a shelf for the games ;-)

  • +1

    pic needs more white thumb

  • Saw XBOX 360 arcade $148, 360 Elite Black with ODST, Forza 3 $249 and White Wii $219 at HN Balgowlah.

    Doesn't have photo of it.

  • The Arcade doesn't have a HD right? Can it be used as a media extender still?

    • Yes without Hard disk.

I think you can still use it as media extender but not 100% sure whether it needs hard disk to cache.

  • Yes it works as Media Extender, you can also use any USB stick as official memory now guys (though you will need a HDD for online)

  • +1

I went to my local HN who had it marked at $197. I mentioned it was $168 in another store and they matched it… awesome. Very cheap media center extender!

$148 would have been even better though… if only Balgowlah was local to me!

    • $148 at Balgowlah already at least 2 weeks I think.

      • So why not share with everyone else? Leech much?

        • +1

I have on Whirlpool and one of the thread here but doesn't seem anyone interest.

  • When would the manufacturing date of these arcade models be around? Would they be jasper?

    • Mine's 2009-09-14. Are pre-jasper ones still being sold?

    • Every Joyce Mayne and JB store I have called with Elites and Arcades all seem to be 2010 onward which sucks! Yes, they would be Jaspers…

  • +1

It's getting to be less and less value to trade up to a slim his coming week. Having a spare that I can chuck my 120GB HDD onto to play in the other room sounds like a good deal to me

  • HN Mt Barker SA, matched the price over the phone. Picked up 2, they had a stack priced at $247. Salesman checked with manager when on the phone, said in-store they just wanted to get rid of them with the new slim 360 coming. Looks like the phat 360 will be difficult to find soon.

  • Eug - which store did the price match? None in VIC will…

  • waladare - what is the MFD (manufacturer date made) on your 2 consoles?

    • jan 2010, no older units for jtag unfortunately….also the newer liteons in them requiring extra work to mod.

  • +1

yeah you need the probe v2, I done a couple a few weeks back, they can be tricky what with the soldering and tracer cuts

  • They're lite-on jobbies right? iextreme works on them?

    • Any 09/2009 consoles and later have new 9XXX series Lite-On drives requiring a more challenging fix (see above), any Lite On drive in the market (except the X360S, which is being tested) will work with ixtreme LT

Confirmed for the Harvey Norman store in Ashmore on the Gold Coast. Bought one this morning, must have been the first guy because they had to double check if I was bluffing or not. I showed them this page and they gave it to me for $167 (Woohoo, $1 cheaper!)

    • +1

      I can buy a biscuit with $1.

  • HN in Woden just said they wouldn't sell them for that price. I'm gonna have to check Fyshwick.

    And they did. Yay

  • anyone know if this is available in Sydney city?

    • these were left over from their laptop promotion… i got my laptop bundle at the martin place one in syd, still have mine unopened and thinking of flogging it

  • I have checked Balgowlah HN today, XBOX ARCADE selling for $178, XBOX ELITE 120GB $249.

  • Sydney City has them for $188
