    While I posted this deal, I actually just bought the XPS 13 listed here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/278070

    Doesn't have the 512 SSD but you'd really have to want that, it's usually a very expensive (+$500) option on all laptops unless you're upgrading yourself.

        in a 13" laptop… I don't think that exists unless you are converting an optical drive into a HHD slot aftermarket.

        Then you need to find a 13" laptop with an optical drive. Might be out there.

        I'd just get an external drive.

        @ozyboy: Very nice find. Also has a USB-C port. I've done some digging and it's currently $1,299 but might be even cheaper when the black Friday sale starts @ 4pm.

        Yea, the description picture is incorrect, it's for the higher specc'd model with a 3200x1800 IPS display :( . If you click the 'specifications' tab however, it doesn't mention IPS in the 'Display' section.

        Even if it were an IPS panel, there is a surprising amount of different type of IPS panels with varying quality, so I always check reviews on notebookcheck to see how good the display really is.

  Does battery life differ much between FHD and WQHD displays (all else being equal)?
