Will this work with Australian accounts?

    • +2

Yes, AFAIK Gold isn't region specific.

      • Someone said they changed this in June. Can anyone confirm?

        • +2

          Nope. Region free :)

    • All xbox live and dlc are region free. Never bought xbox live code locally i always get them online.

  • Says it requires a UK address to even order

    • Yeah and Amazon are normally pretty smart in that the payment address has to be the same as well

      • Doh so no deal then?

        • Afaik no, but happy to be proven wrong if someone has a workaround (that doesn't involve an ex-pat to purchase and re-sell lol though would actually be a decent business opportunity lol)

I can just see sites like cd-keys buying up in bulk at this price

@Spackbace: Used the australian embassy as an address and added my Amex. Transaction went through and i got the code no problem. Tried to go again, but there's a quantity limit on this item. So you can only buy 1 per amazon account.

        • +2

          @xazos79:
Try the Ecuadorian Embassy. They let anyone live there.

        • @xazos79:
The embassy address worked for me. Took about an hour for confirmation.

        • @Spackbace: good to know they will only sell one because I've put 3 orders through and all of them are cancelled with a wait-4-hour message so fingers crossed one goes through lol

      • +2

Not really. Just used my UK address with my Aussie Visa card and it worked :)

  • +2

just use Hilton London as your address.

    • +1

Not if your credit card isnt registered to Hilton London.. LOL

      • Did you try doing a Paris Hilton and flashing the 28degress around?

      • +1

Works fine with 28 Degrees and a Hilton Hotel address.

        • Mine is currently "Pending Verification" after trying the same thing. We'll see.

Mine took a while to come through, but worked fine. 28 degrees mastercard, used a hotel address in London.

        • @ReverseBias: I can confirm this works.

    • Did this, used my regular Westpac VISA card, everything worked fine. Code redeemed, 12 month subscription achieved!

  • Shame on PS Plus

  • Can anyone who has attempted to place an order comment on whether this works provided you add a uk address to your list of amazon mailing addresses?

  • +1

Thanks for this. I used Middlesbrough University as my address and it worked perfectly.

  • I just tried this with the Australian Embassy address and my regular Westpac VISA card.
    All good!

    • And I thought I was so original using the High Commission. Dang haha.

  • i just chatted with xbox support and they told me that codes are region blocked so based on what they said this wouldn't work in australia

    • +12

That is not true. I just redeemed my code.

      • ok thanks. it seems a few people did it and it worked for them
i just bought mine but the transaction is pending verification
i hope it will work…. wait and see now

      • Just made an account using uk address and my local credit card. Amazon still knows I'm in Australia and won't go through.
        Any help?

    • Microsoft support are a bunch of crap anyway. The other day I had trouble getting a 360 GWG to download, it wanted me to pay. Contact support, ages later gets told "well, just hit buy and if it charges you come back to support"

Last time this happened I told the guy I had 1 day left on my account and no interest in renewing, and I really wanted to get the 360 game. He used the phrase "you have all the time in the world" 3 times, to which I always replied "No, I don't, I literally have less than 24 hours until I'm out of Gold"

I used to think PlayStation support were shit (which they still are), but holy shit.

      • Hey, I had the same problem and after a ton of research I found and fixed the issue

Don't have my browser history on this device but if you look through the Microsoft site to change your account region and port it back to oz it should fix it up

I'd tried Microsoft help for a few months and got the same replies as you

What seems to happen is Microsoft sets up a default us account during a trial period like the 14 day code you get with machine

So when you create your permanent account they clash and you can log in to aus account and it keeps redirecting you to us

Please try the above it doesn't lock you out of changing region on device but it merged my accounts and fixed my issues.

If you can't find the account porting on Microsoft ping me back and I'll log in from pc and send you the link really hope this helps because it was an absolute pain in the $&'b

        • I did that the first time when I wanted to grab Mirror's Edge, but it didn't work for me. After finally giving in I contacted support and that's when I got that idiot. In the end what I did was a signed up to a trial of Vypr VPN (wouldn't normally name names, but it was the only one that worked) and that got it to go in the end, which means, as you said, it's definitely something to do with regions.

Problem for me probably lies in the fact I'd already changed regions in the past, to grab a couple of free US exclusive games.

Either way, I'll probably figure it out eventually, but thanks a bunch for taking the time to reply dude, really :)

This is a digital code right? They aren't going to send my love voucher to Rainbows near Liverpool st, right?

    • +1

Yeah I got an email straight away.

  • -2

waiting for reports of code failures :P

    • +2

Already redeemed and reflected in my Microsoft Services and Subscriptions.

  • Very good price, thanks OP. Bought one without issue - now good for Gold until 2019.

  • noob here, any expiry date you must subscribe by?

  • It works fine. Just bought one and redeemed straight away. Thanks OP!

  • Hey guys says geo restricted for me USA and iam in australia any help.

I have a uk address in my amazon account.

    Josh

    • Per aja12's post below: "You need to change your location. Go to account settings - manage your content and devices. Change your location to UK"

  • By the way i got 1 month of xbox live gold for $1 from microsoft.

    • Same think happened to me however no payment

I got the 12 months and the 2 emails come through together one with a month and the one for 12 months

So 13 months all up for the 42$……

Maybe they felt sorry for me not being a diplomat residing at one of the embassy's

  • Purchased and redeemed using my US account and a UK address :)

  • +1

Purchased by creating a new amazon account with Australian Embassy UK as address. Paid with 28 Degrees and instant code delivery. Code works and now have 12 more months. Thanks OP and all for their original UK address suggestions (was going to use 10 Downing Street).

  • Thanks OP
    All activated

  • got it working guys. does the codes stack if purchased another one? It displays says expires on 25th dec 2017.

  • Works great.Thanks OP

  • I'm getting this when trying to place order, any suggestions?

We noticed that you're shopping from United States. This item is not available for purchase due to geographical restrictions.

    • +1

You need to change your location. Go to account settings - manage your content and devices. Change your location to UK.

      • +1

Legend, thanks. I was stuck on that bit too.

  • Thanks OP!

Took a little while to verify the purchase, but no issues in the end and code successfully received and redeemed. I just used my work's UK address and my Citibank Visa.

  • This worked for me, just used a random UK address I found on Google Maps and my Australian VISA debit card. When I redeemed it, it came up with an error saying something went wrong, but my subscription updated to expire in a years time so it worked.

  • has anyone purchased the GOW or FIFA DLC ones? or is there a risk of the code being region specific if you do that?

  • Thanks, used the embassy address, and changed region on my US amazon account. Worked fine.

  • Anyone having issues redeeming? Did you have to change region on xbox.com. Have tried switching to UK without success.

    • Errors every time. Yet when I checked later under the subscription status its extended the 1 year. Go figure!

  • Ordering regular 12 month code worked for me yesterday. I tried today to get the fifa and gears 12 month codes but both gave me a the 4 hour delay issue and were put in my cancelled order list. It does say one code per account but I figured those would count separately since they technically aren't the same product, guess not or amazon wised up about the fake address.

  • Just tried to order but got a 4 hour delay/verification message. I'm assuming it will get cancelled?

Do I need to try a different UK address?

    • did the order go through within the 4 hours? I just got my 4 hour error message >.<

  • Mine worked. Used a friend's address in London. And Aussie 28 degrees master card. Change my Amazon region to UK as stated above. Didn't have to change my region on Xbox. Redeemed fine.

Transaction on Amazon was "pending verification" for a while, but then went through ok.

  • I'm seeing a few different error codes when trying to redeem this on my account. Trying to redeem online, and on the Xbox itself, I get "Sorry, but an unexpected error has occurred" and "Something went wrong. Try again in a few minutes".

The code is definitely good, because it says "Xbox Live Gold 12 month subscription" before I hit redeem. So I'm not sure what the problem is.

  • So I've had two attempts:
First attempt I added my UK friend's address but when putting the transaction through I so happen to leave my AUS address as Invoice address; I got the 4 hour wait message and within 5 minutes the order was listed under cancelled orders. Amazon UK confirmed it was cancelled.

Second attempt, I made sure to list my UK friend's address as invoice address and I've got the 4 hours message again. I will update when I find out what happens.
Sorry, processing is taking longer than expected.
This order may take up to 4 hours to process but usually will take less than an hour.
Please do not re-order this item.

In the meantime, can anyone shed some light?

    • I'm having the same issue..

  • no joy for me ordering this, keeps getting cancelled.
    great deal though

    • I tried 3 times and gave up.. No joy here either! Boo hoo

      • they just told there is a "technical glitch" and that it shouldnt be auto cancelling.

  • Finally managed to get this worked with three attempts. Cheers OP

  • I got it last night and it worked fine. Using the embassy addresses must have raised a red flag. I just used my cousin's address, but I've had an Amazon UK account for ages to purchase Hue light bulbs.

  • For those of you who can't manage to get Amazon UK to accept the order (as I wasn't after about 10 attempts), Game (UK) has the same deal. I had to use a VPN to plop myself in Europe, otherwise the product page comes up with an error.

    http://www.game.co.uk/en/xbox-live-12-month-gold-membership-20177/?cm_sp=BlackFriday16--MainOffers--12MXboxLive

    Hope that helps some folks!

    • Might even be able to get more than one of these to stack. Haven't checked.

    • I can confirm that multiples can be bought. Just added another year! 2 years for about $86 AUD aint bad!

      • Fraud failure for me :(

        What VPN are you using?

        • NordVPN and I used a French server (although I suspect most Euro servers will work). I think I got a fraud failure on my first attempt as well however I tried that one without logging in to my game account. When I purchased logged in it worked.
