      • Lol probably not, I did speak to him though.

  • Went to Burwood Westfield this morning at 9:30am when the Concierge opened, and there were 4 people in the queue before me. I was sure they were all Ozbargainers, but the 2 gentlemen before me used their Amex cards to buy a $30 and $50 gift card respectively, so I thought "Hmmm… Maybe we are really only a minority group"….

Anyhow, I asked if I can buy a $500 gift card and split into 5 separated credit card payments, and was told that each gift card can be split-paid by a maximum of 2 credit cards, so I bought 2 x $200 and 1 x $100 gift cards with my 5 Amex's. I had to show ID, and the first 3 credit cards are mine, the other 2 are my Missus', but after checking the first 2 Amex's, she didn't instead; I guess it pays to look charming… huh huh…), so I got away with it (so worth a try if you are in the same situation). She did ask me if it is an "ANZ" deal, and I said it was AMEX and gave her a very brief nutshell of the deal. She is obviously not an Ozbargainer and probably doesn't have an Amex (yet), but I'll be surprised if she doesn't become a convert by the end of the day after doing probably 200+ of these split transactions. At least we are keeping them in the job…, and might even create a few for someone else :-). She knows nothing about Apple pay, so I'll save that for something else.

    • Is there a limit to how many transactions one card can do for $25 cashback offer? If not, then we can go for any number.. right? We save $20.05 even after service fees for every $100 spent.

      • If there was a limit it would be clearly spelled out in the terms & conditions, and probably in the OP's post. If it's not mentioned anywhere then I say go for it!

        • It's unbelievable that there's no limit though.. one can buy 100 cards and save $1800. May be my guess is even low: ). Even if saving is 18%, it's much more than any bank's interest rate.

        • @virhlpool: you only get one credit lol

        • @Turd: I don't think there's any cap. You can do as many transactions of $100 as you would like with one Amex card and still get $25 cashback for each. Nothing is mentioned about cap anywhere.

        • +1

          @virhlpool: ummm I see…

        • @virhlpool:

          One $25 credit

        • @spk: Makes sense.

Shoutout to the young lady manning the concierge desk at Westfield Chatswood (near Myer Level 4) who handled things efficiently and without issues. Happily processed 2 cards, separate payments ($2.95 fee per card). Did ask me to see photo ID but I said I was using Apple Pay.

    • +1

Fees for me was $4.95 but I went for eftpos card though.

  • Chatswood Westfield counter (old lady) won't split payments so I ended up buying two cards of $100 instead of one of $200 that I wanted. So, paid service fees twice but still good savings. Paid with Mobile Wallet and it worked too.

  • Bought XS gift card last night, no email yet from AmEx.
Also bought a $50 Rebel gift card and got the email before I stepped out of the store.

  • +7

For those newbies who just enrolled to this offer:

Myer -> 23.3% discount on Coles/Myer Gift cards [Can be used only at Coles/Myer Group]
Westfield -> 23.80% discount on EFTPOS card(Westfield XS) [Can be used inside or outside Westfield, Wherever EFTPOS is accepted]

Myer -> 30% when combined with Mobile wallet offer.
Westfield -> 33.3% when combined with Mobile wallet offer.

It has been reported that Mobile wallet and Myer offers have triggered emails immediately, while Westfield didn't. Do not Panic.

    • Thanks for the summary, very informative!

    • +1

It's not 23.80% discount on EFTPOS card. They charged service fees of $4.95 per gift card purchase, which leaves $20.05 saving (or say 20.05%) discount for $100 card, assuming it's not combined with mobile wallet offer. May be you are referring to the other card which works only in Westfield.

      • (25/105 ) x 100 is 23.8%

        • +2

There's an error in your formula. You aren't getting value worth $105. It should be $20.05/100 x 100.

          $25 cashback - $4.95 service fees = $20.05 cashback

  • +2

Purchased Coles Myer gift cards $150 each in First Choice Liquor with 4 cards, confirmation mails received for all of them from Amex.

    • -2

Wouldn't it be more cash in bank when you purchase the same gc at Myer instead ?

      • +4

Why not use both promotions? I purchased both in myer and First Choice:)

        • Well, we could :). I got 9 cards = 2 x 9 x $150 - $2700. Then minus rebate $585 = $ 2115.

What to spend at Coles Myer group other than groceries and Fuel at Coles Express ?

        • @yht: target, Kmart, officeworks, liquor land

    • Did you buy them in store or online?

      • +1

        In Melbourne Abbotsford store

    • You mean you purchased $150 x 4 cards? You don't have to pay with 4 different cards though as I assume there's no cap. You can purchase 4 gift cards with single Amex card and still receive cashback for all. No?

      • No….

  • -1

30,000 westfield gift cards already enrolled what??

    • Sounds like Westfield managers emailed amex and asked to put a stop to this. LOL

      • I dunno why they'd do that, isn't that in their best interests to encourage us so we're 'locked in' to spend at Worstfield??

        • +2

Like I said in other posts..

Aussie work ethic.. One day doing maybe 1 gift card a day, to doing 50-100 a day.. Which would you prefer? Wouldnt you rather do nothing?

Also someone will need to approve these so managers will have increased work/emails from different stores.. thus they be like omg wtf.. so much work arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!H!HH!HH!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Sends memo "Allow only 1 gc per person perday".

        • May be for EFTPOS ones which are not obliged to be used only at Westfield. :)

    • -1

That would be 30k Amex cards enrolled.

And I doubt Westfield would contact Amex to put a stop to this.
My money says this helps drives foot traffic and wouldn't surprise me if Westfield clip the ticket when they are redeemed within the complex in certain stores.

    • I guess the offer is not valid for gc purchase.

  • Westfield TTP SA won't split payments (don't know how), so need to buy $100 gift card for each AmEx and pay the $2.95/$4.95 fee for each one.

  • +1

I went to Westfield Southland and the woman said, "Hang on a minute, we got an email from management about this" She then went to her computer and read the email and told me she could only sell me one card, that was what management told her. She said I heard about this scam! I said, "it is not a scam it is totally legitimate". I am very angry and called amex to complain but the person I spoke to wasn't really very clued in and could not help me.

    • +2

      hahahahahahahahahaha

TOLD YOU Like Harvey Normans Westfield management are dumb and not cluey at all!!

People do this to survive living in Australia. 22%-25% off items.

      Lifehacks101

    • you should've shown her the amex promo - it clearly states that it's a promo for westfield gift card. "Spend $100 or more, in one or more transactions, on Westfield Gift Cards instore or online at Westfield…

  • Westfield Pitt st Sydney(the one next to MS store and the one in Lower ground of MYER) not doing split payment any more

  • Lady on the counter put the amount on red card instead of a silver (xs)

Anyone wanting to exchange $600, pls PM me

    • Go back to said lady and get a refund?

      • Trying to
I don't want to put them in trouble by talking to a manager.
        Talking to their team leader

        They r quite friendly.

        • Should be super easy to do, just ask them to pay the gold card with red card, and pay then difference in fee of $2.

        • @feihong: problem is the red card balance is not loaded yet.

Due to high volume of transactions, it's taking longer than usual.

He gave me with 2 options:
          1) to get a XS card as a replacement instead of red and I need to pay $4.95 service fee

          2) to refund $600 on to one card, as they do not know how to refund it to multiple cards

I have paid $100 each with 6 Amex cards

With option 2, I was thinking I might be lucky to get $25 x 5 credits as Amex can't notice the refund

        • +1

@spk: if they refund 600 into one card that card will not get the credit. The other cards will.

Then go to another concierge and get a 100 card on that cc.

Instant free money minus small 2.95 fee spread on 5 cards

        • @Turd: yes, that is why I said $25 * 5 = $125 - $3(processing) = $122 free money

But i was wondering how their system could map $100 debit transaction to a $600 credit transaction and doesn't process the statement credit.

        • @spk: spend more than 100 to get credit, so a refund of 600 means u get credit but when u buy it again it will get credit.

        • @Turd: ok, hopefully it doesn't reverse the mobile wallet offer as I paid all 6 transactions with apple pay

        • @Turd: I went there this afternoon and a senior manager came there to sort this out.

He saw the receipt and asked if am refunding because I haven't got Amex credits.
He asked me if I have all the 6 cards with me to refund $100 each.

He was struggling to do and I opted for a Xs card… he swapped it for me.

        • @spk: the westfield system is very crappy

  • -1

One guy whom I met near the Westfield told that even the red card would work at any eftpos terminal

Can some one who already has this try and report back pls ?

    • It works at some stores in locations that are not in a Westfield where the store can be found in a Westfield somewhere. e.g. Aldi

  • +1

bought the westfield but didn't get the email. should i be worried?

    • +1

      No

  • +2

    Too much to read.

I just got out of first liquor store a $150 Coles gift card and got back $30 email.

  • +2

You guys are killing me. I am on an overseas holiday and spending my days on Ozbargain. Luckily the holiday was on Qantas bonus ff miles from credit card offers off Ozb.!!

    • +1

I hope you have registered your AMEXs anyway and get ready to join the fellow ozbargainers as soon as you touch down! (and running around inside a Westfield S/C should also help reducing your jet lag)

      • +1

Correct. And AMEX/Priority Pass lounges all the way. Upgraded to Business class with free Qantas miles so I will hit the ground-a-running!!

  • -3

Don't quote me on this but apparently there is no difference between the Red (Westfield only) and Gold XS (anywhere EFTPOS accepted) cards except for the $2.95 vs $4.95 fee. They are both accepted at exactly the same places both inside and outside of Westfield complexes. @sween64 hinted at this above here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4233217/redir but I suspect it would also work at other shops such as McDonalds, Coles, Woolies etc outside of a Westfield complex.

If anyone with Reds wants to try and report back results, it would be much appreciated.

Also anyone want to share ideas on best non-purchasing uses of Westfield cards? I'm thinking maybe Post Office to pay bills etc?

    • -1

Even I was told the same and posted above for someone to report back !

    • -2

I can confirm you can use the red Westfield card at the post office.

      • Good to know
So there's no difference between the two cards ?

      • Tried bill payment at Post Office using an xs card and it was declined. Maybe Westfield cards can only be used for purchases at the post office?

    • +1

I tried using the red one outside of a Westfield and it come back with an error

      • +1

Can we please know where u used ?

      • +1

Thanks for the info. Only way to know for sure now is to confirm that a gold xs card is accepted at the same location that the red was rejected.

      • name of the store?

  • Do Dymocs or BCF sell gift cards?

    • Yes Dymocks sell gift cards for Dymocks

  • Anyone tried at southland? Are the conceige friendly?

    • How does it matter if they're friendly or not ?

  • How long does it take for the amount to be loaded on to the card ?
I bought the gift card at 4:30 pm yesterday Sydney time and it still says invalid card details when i try to check balance online

    • Could be issue with Westfield's system and suddenly taking on so many gc purchases, or the system erroring and having to manually fixed.

      Usually they are instant

    • Yes I checked after 10mins and the credit are loaded, i think it is just the balance checking system not working at the moment.

Note: I have already used it and it went well, you need to select Saving instead of credit.

      • Hey
Can u pls let me know when did u buy the gift cards ?
Are you able to check balance on their website now ?

        • Got it on Thursday, I did able check balance 30 mins after I purchase. Now it is not working but used just 10 min ago

        • @LoveBargain15: I was only checking online and wAs worried

        • @spk:

You can give them a call, as you have the receipt, any problem you can get refunded.

  • +1

Got all my credits except mobile and westfields

  • How did u guys manage so many gift card ? Is there any application to store or something?

    • Write balance on card

  • Noob question- can we use coles myer gift cards at coles shell petrol pumps?

    • +1

Their Web page says the Coles group cards can be used at

      Coles
      Myer
Target, Target Country and Baby Target
Kmart and Kmart Tyre & Auto
      Liquorland
      Vintage Cellars
      1st Choice Liquor Superstore
      Coles Express

      • Thanks. Now the question is are coles petrol pump included in coles express? I guess I will have to give it a try and find out

        • +1

          Yes you can!

        • @Turd: thanks Turd

      • Also at officeworks.

  • +2

Got cashback on Myer but not for Westfield offer yet.
    Both purchase on Thursday.

    • Same. Got cashback on 2 Myer, but not for 2 Westfield charges. Offer still showing saved. Used both cards on Tuesday.

      • +1

        Tuesday

The promotion have not started until Thursday

      • Sorry Thursday. Too many deals to deal with. :)

  • Is there a way for Westfield red card to be known which stores accept them? Reading forums here seems confusing why some stores not accepting.

  • Anyone purchased today and used westfield/xs gc today? (to prove no issues with funds being loaded instantly)

    • Bought yesterday 4:30 pm from Sydney city Westfield.
Amount wasn't loaded till 7 pm for sure.

Trying to check balance online and looks like it's broken(as per comments above)

      • Damn.. As i plan to use around an hour after purchase

  • Southland Lady is not Cooperative. One per person per day. Stated that it's Westfield policy. Pushed her to produce the policy and she couldn't - she called for the manager to come down. In the interim - spotted the terms and conditions on the desk. Said something about they have discretion to not sell to anyone for any reason.

She wouldn't let a split payment either to get one card for $700.

So yeah. Guess I'm making multiple trips there over the next few weeks.

Myer had heaps of Coles Myer vouchers. Got $1200 worth with mutli payments
