      • It says $0 on $29 cap for 24 months, but when you click the image link it says $10/month on the $29 cap.

        • its $0 on 29 cap on Three, so im assuming the image link isnt updated

          • @venu: Yea, so this isn't really a deal then.

If the N97 Mini is anything like the N97 (which is unstable), then the phone should be a give away.

The Mini was launched after taking into consideration the problems the users faced with the n97

    • Mini is better than original.

    • I've had both, the Mini is definitely better.

  • another crap Nokia with 400Mhz processor. The CPU speed is too slow to handle applications CPU usage + combine with resource hungry Symbian. It's perfect combination, Nokia.

I don't understand what Nokia thinking for using crap 400Mhz CPU for those hi-mid range phone like X6 and N97.

  • Nokia? Are they still around? :)

  • i respect their qwerty phones, just not their touch. symbian is inferior to all other operating systems. still 29cap for n97 mini is pretty good.

sure thing, if it really help people decide I would be more than happy to answer questions.

        1) The OS is very unstable, even after their so called "upgrade". Many of my friends, who also was lured into this N97 mini trend, all faces random freezes and random auto-reboots.

        2) The battery life is really bad. It varies between able to last 1 day to lasting to 4-5hr max, idling time!! Right now I have to charge my phone every night and left with 2 bars after work.

        3) Sometimes when system freezes (OS crash) the only recovery is by doing soft-reset. This means loosing everything you've got to zilch. Backup often is a MUST!

… there are many more… but you can see them all crying out for help on the official Nokia forum
        http://discussions.nokia.com.au/t5/Nseries-and-S60-Smartphon…
I am a big Nokia fan and have been with them for over 16 years.
And this is the FIRST time that I am considering changing a brand of mobile!

        • agree you, i am also a nokia fans for 10+ yrs. i am considering change to android now

@onebee: I did - I sold the N97 and bought a Motorola Milestone. There are a number of things that the N97 was better at, i.e. messaging and the camera. The N97 is simply quicker at sending a message because it's more basic. MMSing is more intuitive on the N97 too… which was why I then bought an N97 Mini to complement the Milestone (i carry 2 phones).

Nokias are excellent at what they were designed to do. All these newer touchscreen phones are jack of all trades, master of none.

The OS is not "very unstable". I've had a couple of spontaneous reboots, but it doesn't happen often.

The battery life is fine for me. I usually have 4 bars at night before going to bed, with average use (a few phone calls, a bunch of photos, MMS, SMS). I have never ever seen it only last "4-5hr max, idling time". Ever.

I've never encountered any soft-reset crashes. I've had the N97 and N97 Mini since December last year.

You must remember, people only complain on forums. People like me who don't have those problems don't bother creating posts saying "the phone works fine for me" - so you only see people complaining about problems.

          • @eug: Hmm, that's really great for you =)
I also had a N97 (sold) and now N97 Mini. Had them since they both first released.
Then I guess I have the 'crap' stock of the N97 series then. Both time!

It is true that you see people only complain on the forum and it is what the forum is for anyway right?
What really comes out from looking through the forum is the AMOUNT OF PEOPLE complaining. I personally don't mind seeing a few people complaining. But no… N97 have more than a dozen^3 (12 cubed) people who have problems with the phone.

I don't mean to deter people away from this phone because it's a good phone. But it is just not doing what it was meant to do! A disappointment really…

          • @eug: Oh btw, do you customise your phone?
Like buy stuff from OVI store and beautify your OS?

Because somehow THAT is the problem… but the what's the point of having a 'personalized' phone and OVI store if those factors are the cause of the crash?

You may want to add the carrier to the title

  • Just ordered this phone on the cap, its a shame the MBC links are down.

Remember to use the code '100special'. You'll get $100 off credit, rather than the $50 credit that three is offering.

edit: wow just noticed this is a crazy johns deal. I was referring to the Three deal, that just came up this morning

    • How do you know whether Moneybackco is working or not?

    • I just tried using the "100special" yesterday for Nokia X6, but it did not work.

      • I did too, but it seemed to work on the N97 mini

  • N900 has been moved down to a $49 cap too, if your interested in that kind of thing. Seems to be $99 on Optus from when I looked around, was on a $69 crazy cap before.

  • stay away from any n97. the mini still has many problems. i just got out of a n97 contract went through 3 n97s in 2 months all of them = fail.
