Philips Aqua GC-8642 $299 @ HN ($199 after $100 Philips cashback/$100 with Amex Statement Credit and >$1 purchase)

80

Only applies to those of you who have already registered for Amex's Harvey Norman deal (can't register anymore if you haven't, as the maximum enrolment has been reached)..

I was looking to get this GC-8642 for my mum, and just before I went ahead with this eBay Good Guys deal, decided to do one last search to make sure it is the best deal around. I found out that Harvey Norman has this for $299, and if you purchase anything worth $1 or more, in combination with the $100 statement credit from Amex and Philip's $100 cashback, it drops the price to $100, which is an absolutely cracking price for this steam generator. I can personally vouch for it, having owned it for nearly 2 years, and also have made my sister and my mum a convert…

Mate, there are way cheaper here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279361

And you don't have to use the Amex credit.

I'm the bolder twin according to mum…

How is $139.20 cheaper than $100 with Amex statement credit? $299 + $1 random item minus $100 Philips cashback minus $100 Amex statement credit = $100 total spend..

      • -1

The Amex credit is a separate offer and you can use it on something else…

Comparing apples to apples, the good guys deal is cheaper

Sure, if you like paying more for something, go ahead and get it at harvey norman…

        • Must be getting too late on a Friday night for my brain to be functioning properly, coz I'm simply not getting your point, jv…once again, I fail to see I am actually "paying more for something". As I mentioned at the start of the post, this deal only applies for this who still have the Amex HN statement credit up their sleeves, and if you do and you are looking for an iron, I am merely pointing out to my fellow ozbargainers of a way to getting the GC8642 for around $100 out-of-pocket cost..

price here with cashback is $199

price in other deal with cashback is $139.20

        • @Quiexo: Most of us here have already used the credit to buy vpay (cashed in immediately) or HN gift card (valid for 2 years) so it's not like we'll save another $100. When HN offers this for $239 then sure it's a good deal and many would redeem their gift cards.

        • I don't know why jv was downvoted in this instance. He normally deserves it, but this time he was on point.

Apples for apples, this is cheaper than HN.

If you have AMEX credits left (which not everyone does) or you want to use your credits on something else, this is not a better deal.

  • Thanks. Great deal!

  • Picture doesn't show just how huge this thing is. 30 x 28.5 x 40.5 cms. It's as tall as a ruler. It's just shy of being as wide as a ruler. It's longer than a ruler… It's 5.5kg and holds 2.2L of water.

How are you meant to hold this thing?
