  • This is a seriously good mouse for 40$. Having used mine as the main mouse for an entire year, my only gripe is that the scroll wheel, while able to click left and right, cannot be used as a middle button. Battery lasts as claimed even with decent use.

    • Could uberoptions fix this issue or is the button press physically not there (middle click)

      http://uberoptions.net/

      • Not there boss

      • Just remembered, i want to clarify that in setpoint, i changed the two thin long buttons left of the left click to function as middle click. I'm perfectly satisfied with this, since the distance between the buttons and the wheel is small on this mini mouse

    • Not having a middle button really seems like a backwards move but still couldn't resist- Got one for dad. Thanks OP!

    • that middle button below the scroll reel works as a middle button on mine. the reason why the scroll wheel cant is because you have to use that clicking mechanism to adjust between supersmooth scrolling and segmented scrolling

  • Note one unusual aspect of this mouse is pressing down the scroll wheel switches the scrolling mode, and can't function as a standard click. The button below the wheel is sometimes suggested as an (awkward) alternative.

EDIT: beaten by 42 seconds :)

oh that is a big time fail! middle click is a must!

      • All buttons on the mouse are reconfigurable. You can have either of the side buttons as middle click or the middle button below the scroll to be middle click. I personally have set the lower side button to middle click, the top side button as play/pause. Battery life lasts as advertised even with heavy usage like me. I bought this almost 2 years ago for $80 and I really would not hesitate buying it again.

  • Ordered one!!!

  • how good's the nano receiver though? i have an m305 and nano receiver works only 70% of the time. Have to keep changing ports every so often….grah. So annoying…

    • It comes with an extension cable to position the nano receiver closer to the mouse.

      • ok, but an extension cable shouldn't have to be used seeing my mouse is usually less than 50cm away? :(

        • 50cm should be well within range.

I only use the VX Nano with my laptop, it's like 10cm away, so never had any problem with it (it better not).

          • @browser: I can't imagine needing an extension cable for the receiver. I have an M505 which also uses the nano receiver. I'm within 30cm of the receiver 95% of the time and occasionally (for movie watching), about 1-2 metres away, and I've never had a problem. Additionally, the laptop has never had a problem "finding" the receiver when cold booting or coming out of hibernation. Can't say the same about the bluetooth V470 I tried replacing it with - laptop loses that about once a week. Needless to say, I've stuck with the M505. :)

  • hi, was thinking about getting this, was wondering what the middle button would be actually used for? Have never used the middle button for anything.

    • i use it heaps for opening links in new tabs.. and alternate fire in fps games

    • +1

The middle button (or the wheel click) usually activates the auto-scroll mode, that is instead of turning the wheel to scroll up or down, you move the mouse to scroll. In some browsers (i.e. Firefox), middle button opens the link in a new tab. If you install Logitech's SetPoint software, you can re-define the middle button to do a number of other things.

On this particular mouse, the middle button is a mechanical switch to change between smooth scrolling and clicky scrolling. However, there's another button just below the wheel that you can program it to do similar things as the middle button.

  • I got the m950 from Dell for $60 in the previous deal. Which is the better mouse? or which is the better deal?

    • M950 is a newer and more advanced mouse, however, it's not necessary a better deal if it doesn't suit your needs. VX Nano is targeted at laptop users, it's smaller hence more portable, the USB transceiver can be stored inside the mouse for convenience (or you can just leave it plugged in).

Generally speaking, if you have $60 to spare, M950 is a better mouse for desktop use. Some people like the MX Revolution more, that's totally a personal preference.

I use VX Nano with my laptop, MX Revolution and M950 with my desktops, they are all very nice and all better than the MS mice I had in the past.

    • I think VX nano is well suited for Laptop usage, where else M950 or MX revo are suited for desktop. I'm using M950 on my desktop and VX revo for my laptop. Though I am seriously tempted to order this little one. An interesting comparison will be VX revolution against VX nano. In terms of size, MX revo > VX revo > VX nano. Almost all newer mice from Logitech seem to derive from these earlier ones: M950 > M705 > M905.

  • thanks for the explanation. Never realised that the middle button opened links in new tabs ~ that's great! Won't have to do the whole right click open in new tab thing anymore!

  • So 6 months til the battery dies. What then?
Buy another one? Or can you replace the battery?

    • Certainly replaceable. I use 2 rechargeable AAA in mine and they last ages.

    • You replace the batteries with new ones, it takes 2 AAA's

  • comment useless so deleted question answered

  • Spent $80 a month ago on one of these >< EDIT, I bought the 905

  • Okay seriously why would they have web only sales?

EDIT: I walked into their store and they gave it to me for $39, so shipping is actually 50 cents (:

If you're going to do what I did, you should register an account on their website first.

  • Is the reciever a re-named bluetooth item or is it different?

I tossing up between this and the Gigabyte M7700B

    • Uhh, no. The VX Nano receiver uses a 2.4ghz radio signal and is proprietary. It only works with that mouse.

The GB M7700B does not come with a Bluetooth receiver. You will need to have Bluetooth built into your laptop / own a bluetooth dongle.

  • nice find - ordered one :) cheers

  • you guys think IR better than bluetooth mouse?

    • Infrared mice is obsolete. You need line of sight to make them work.

Or unless you're talking about RF mice (that use the 2.4 ghz band), then it depends. If you have a laptop that has built in BT, then you have the convenience of not needing a dedicated dongle for your mouse.

I find RF mice to be slightly more reliable than Bluetooth mice, since they don't need the Bluetooth stack or drivers in order to work, they just emulate USB. My Logitech BT mouse doesn't work in Safe Mode because Bluetooth drivers don't get loaded, but my VX Revolution does.

  • As others have said, the middle mouse button is just a physical switch between smooth and clicky scrolling. the little button under it can be set to be middle click though (even in Ubuntu, which I use on my laptop).

The forward and back buttons are in an awkward place though, this and the middle click issue make it kind of sucky for web browsing, in my opinion.

On the upside, it's very comfortable to hold, tracks well, and I have only lost the signal once in 6 or more months (when it was sitting idle for a few days. just pushing a button or turning it off and on again fixed it right away though).

Because of those button layout issues though, I wouldn't buy one again.

  • About to buy one, registered and about to pay for the item when I decided to read the rest of these posts. Then I noticed the post about not being BT and realized the PC's I plan to use this on both have built in BT. Since it will not be a primary mouse, for travel etc I decided it instead order a BT mouse from DX for about 1/3 he price.

  • What a crock, I entered my cc details twice, site said Unfortunately your credit card payment could not be validated for order:, now price has gone up to GST Included $5.33 Total $58.70

    • does not surprise me. Not the best design of the site. When you register if you us the TAB key to move to the next field some java script kicks in and removes the cursor from the next field. Very annoying.

  • Yeah happened to me, bit nasty to change the price of an item when it's in the cart!!

I clicked the link above and got $39 price again though I keep getting.

Unfortunately your credit card could not be validated, payment for this order still needs to be arranged.
Your order has been saved and an email has been sent to your registered email address.

really good mouse. i used it for more than a year .. until one day i took the battery out and i guess i took it out harshly so one of the metal part also came out .. the button below the scroll well can be used a middle click

    • ya thats the middle click. this mouse is awesome and super cheap. i paid over 80 for mine at the time

  • Nice find order yesterday, received today.
I wanted this mouse for ages but the price didn't justify when it was $60-$80.
Now its a good opportunity. MX Revolution is great for desktop and this is one good mouse for laptop
