  • Damn i have bought the console bundle consists of 3 games and 1 xbox one s 500gb from ebgames.

    Can i return it?

    • If you bought it in the last few weeks and it's still unopened you certainly can

      • +1

I am still waiting for it to be delivered. I hope they accept change of mind.

        • +4

          http://catalogue.ebgames.com.au/

If you look at the bottom of the page, as long as you're an EB World member you can return it by the 15th of Jan

        • @glengood:

you are a member of our loyalty program EB World - does it mean the free online account that i have created?

      • Can you return a game without receipt? I did buy it using my ebworld membership so they would have some proof

      • I'm in the same boat. Could I just return it to their store or would I have to post it?

        • You can return items in-store that you have purchased online but I do not believe you get the shipping back.

        • @Kugz: do you know if they would they refund in cash or store credit?

        • @manbearpig:

I purchased a game online the other day, returned it in-store and got cash back :)

        • +1

          @Kugz: awesome, thanks!

  • +15

I'm sold. Price is too good to not get one. I will pay 279 just out of respect for the console.

  • +1

    amazing username LMAO

  • What a deal!

  • +1

Brought my XB1 S way too early :-(

    • Feel your pain - went with the $368 for 500gb + 2games + movie @ EB Games and already opened the consolem so no returns for me

Download tokens are for chumps. Always were, always will be.
$250 with physical game (or two). Not a download token.
    Waiting.

    • +3

I personally prefer the download codes if I want to keep the game long term.

      • How can it be preferable? It's possible to keep a disc long-term too, and also not bother with a huge download. (even if you never sell it)

        • +5

Not having to change discs or listen to them spinning is valuable to me. NBN here, but understand that physical still greatly preferable to those with weaker connections.

        • @baratta:
          fair enough

        • -1

All digital is completely superior to physical. Probably why.

        • +2

          @ScruffTheJanitor:
Completely superior might be pushing it. I can't select from many retailers (there is less competition). I can't lend. I can't borrow. I can't resell. I can't collect the physical item. By going physical I'm not tied to the network to get what I bought. Nor do I have to worry about changed terms. Nor do I have to worry about continued functioning of the network 5, 10, 15, 20 years from now.

        • @cheepwun:
You do have to worry about scratching/losing/destroying your copy of which there is no back up.
I can sell all my xbox stuff, buy an old xbox one 10 years later and re-download every one of my games.

        • +3

          @ScruffTheJanitor:
As we can see, there are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. I see much more advantage in owning the physical copy. I find it easy to take good care of my discs, so it's not a problem for me.

I can sell all my xbox stuff, buy an old xbox one 10 years later and re-download every one of my games.

I can take care of my discs and spend zero time redownloading them, let alone report my presence to a close NSA collaborator. And not worry about newly-introduced restrictions, changes in policy, discontinuation of service, etc.

        • I still prefer to have the physical copy but then I like to collect things and come from the NES era of holding the actual cartridges and having that kind of interaction, plus the physical copies are worth more than the digital form and will increase in value as they become rarer in the distant future.

        • +1

          @ScruffTheJanitor:
"You do have to worry about scratching/losing/destroying your copy "

I see someone has been to EB

        • @cheepwun:

I guess also the advantage of having a disc copy is you can sell it, the digital copy your stuck with it

  • +2

Battlefield 1 is only a digital download. Not even a physical retail copy. So don't think these are accepted as trade in. Also a 42gb download.

Most of these Xbox deals are for the 500gb which is kind of small and can fill up rather quickly. Especially when most of the bundled titles are download copies and quiet large

    • +2

You can get better load times by installing your games on an external USB3 drive though, so it can still be worth it if you're getting good savings over a 1TB model

      • +1

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/282758

Good deal for a portable 3tb if you can still find stock in store. Wouldn't bother with the more epensive official Xbox game drive which is basically the same brand drive in a fancy green and black branded case.

    • yep, my next part-time job ….. upgrading 500gb Xboxes to 2TB ……. it used to be chipping consoles, next gold rush is upgrading the drives for those who don't want to use external USB drives.

hmmm now they will block piratebay, I guess DNS services will pay for beer while I upgrade the consoles …. glad I did STEM subjects at school.

This must be the jobs Malcom Turnbull was talking about,

  • can you use the bf1 code to install and play on PC as well?

  • Damn, that is a good price. If hadn't bought a PS4 a week ago I might have bought this instead.

  • What a deal ! And i thought i was getting a bargain for $319 at JB with Battlefield 1 and Name Your Game token. Should have waited…

    • This one's white, less battlefield-esque

    • +2

319-280…= $40 so you paid $40 token. Its still the same bargain.

    • Assuming your picking Rise of the Tomb raider, the cheapest I can find that is $37 for a pre owned. Considering the console is a special edition colour I would say JB is still the top deal.
They did the smart thing - get in early with a really good deal. The amount of people in this page alone who won't be getting K-Mart deal because they already got a console some where else.

  • Meanwhile nintendo has let the wii-u die a slow drawn out death…

    • -7

Nintendo has realised they've lost the console war, that's why they put super mario on app store last week. That's their only cash cow left.

      • If they'd just made the gamepad optional and knocked off $100 on the RRP the console could easily have been a success, it's quite sad really as there is some stellar games for the wii-u that a lot of people have missed out on.

        • They'll all get remastered for the Switch.

      • -2

Super Mario Run has met with a tepid response:
        https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/super-mario-run/id1145275343…
Rated about 2.5 stars out of 5 stars, average. It might be a cash cow or it might not. Needing online access is stupid to the max. Mario running automatically is stupid to the max. Personally I didn't spend more than one minute trying it out in the Crapple Store. Zero interest.

        • It's a demo unless you pay $15 to unlock the 14 or so levels. Once I realised this I like many deleted it. No way am I giving Nintendo $15 for a game with such little control. It's bad enough paying the prices for the WiiU games

        • well, mario running automatically isn't stupid to the max considering how damn awkward it is to use an on screen d-pad. tilting is just as awkward.

install a snes emulator and see what i mean. it's worse.

wish the whole game was free, or $0.99 though. just because nintendo charged big bucks for it in the 80s, doesnt mean we want to pay much for the same tired concept in 2016

          ill wait till it's $0.99

        • @insular:
Seems like an incentive to get non-Nintendo owners to buy Nintendo hardware to me. It's just so wrong without tactile controls. I'd much rather use the very fist (monochrome) Game Boy (with tactile controls) than tap away at the auto-running Mario in full colour (with required online access) in 2016. Sad, really.

    • Right!?, I dug up an old receipt of when I picked up the Wii U and it was from Big W for $198 which was about 2 yrs ago. Was looking at getting a console for a family member it is still going for $300+, while meanwhile Nintendo don't care about a price drop (classic Nintendo..)

    • Yep Nintendo have got no clue when it comes to pricing or availability with their products! Wii U Should never have been $400 for the 32GB Console! maybe if it was 500GB But really it was worth no more than $299

      • +1

I agree, I think it shouldn't have been more than $329 on release, with 120GB HDD and called Wii 2. Could have been a different story.

The basic edition made no sense being only 8GB, sometimes they baffle logic. They create amazing games and the Wii was perfect for its time, they didn't know what to do from there.

Switch will be a different story though.

  • Looks like Harvey norman refunds the difference in 7 days - bought it for $299 last week https://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/price-match…

    • but you might lose your AMEX cashback as well?

  • I have ps4…should i buy a xbox…its soo cheap?

    • Yea why not

    • At this price, it's worth it.

    • +3

Bought PS4 slim a few weeks ago as Christmas gift for hubby…. and he's opened it and played with it…. so I've decided to take this deal and buy a Xbox one s for him as well… at least this time it's not too hard to wait till Christmas LOL

      • +2

Wow! You are an awesome wife! Hope he's returning the favour on Christmas day :P

  • How many games can this hold before you'd need an external hard drive

    • -1

5+ games, including updates and DLC/expansions. You can fit more if they are standard games that dont have the extra DLC/Season-Pass stuff though. The games themselves are not 4K quality or even for the most part 60fps at 1080p, so you dont have massive size downloads like PC versions of the same games.

      • -1

"so you dont have massive size downloads like PC versions of the same games"
        ???

        Halo 5 : 97gb
        GTA V: 65gb
        Gears 4 : 65gb
        Halo MCC: 62gb
        NBA 2K15: 50gb
        WWE16: 46gb
        Dragon Age: 45gb
        Wolfenstein: 44gb
        Gears 1 HD: 44gb
        Battlefront: 41gb
        AC Unity: 40gb
        Fora 5: 40gb
        AC Syndicate: 39gb
        Horizon 2: 39gb

The install sizes are massive, those are just the ones I have that are large.
And to compare against PC, I have wolfenstein which is 44gb (so exactly the same),Gears 4 is 54gb (smaller than the Xbox version), GTA V is 65gb (same)c

        • +1

Latest Gears Of War 4 standard PC edition is 84.9gb with all the updates. Just downloaded it recently. If you add DLC and title updates it only gets larger and can quickly eat up the hard drive space. With large sized digital game downloads on console.

        • -3

          PC Versions:

GTA V - 70gb not including any updates or DLC (65gb including DLC & everything on consoles)
          Forza - 60gb (Only 40gb on consoles)
          NBA 2K17 - 70gb (Only 47gb on consoles)
          Battlefield 1 - 51gb (Only 42gb on consoles)
          Skyrim SE - 35gb (20gb on consoles)
          The Witcher 3 - 45gb (25gb on consoles)
          Overwatch - 35gb (17.4gb on consoles)
          Wolfenstein - 60gb (40-44gb for consoles)
          Rocket League - 3gb (1.2gb for consoles)

Nuff' said, really. I'd go into the really large download file sizes for the big AAA games with the largest player bases, but they don't have console versions of them.

    • AAA games seem to be mostly around 30-50gb (Some way more like Halo 5 is 80gb, and then some are under 10gb).

  • err……. Picture states offer only available 21st and 22nd Dec. wilst stocks last. Fine print at bottom states No rainchecks. Offer ends 15th December. Lmao.

    • Yeah I noticed those things too but decided to ignore them because reasons…..and mostly cause i'm buying an Xbox One S for $279. Get Some!

  • Is this online or in store only?

  • Can the One S play 4K Hevc files or movies from a local hard drive?

  • HI,

I don't know a lot about game consoles but out of all the ones out there is this one suitable for a soon to be 9 year old boy? He plays Minecraft on my iPad. I assume this console is not just built for one game? Apologies for the dumb question. Any help would be appreciated.

    • +1

Correct. The minecraft bundle with come with the minecrat games. There are a lot of other games on the xbox one platform along with entertainment options eg Netflix etc.

  • I'm waiting for boxing day sales. Here's hoping for same or similar price. Preferably JB, as I'm sure to get some vouchers.

  • Does anyone know of any bundle with kinect? is that camera still a thing?

    • Like to know too.

    • Microsoft has effectively gotten rid of Kinect.

There aren't very many games for Kinect, and all the 360 Kinect games aren't compatible due to hardware.

  • I bought it for $299 last Friday from Microsoft Store…. how come it is cheaper before I received my parcel…

    • Not a great time in the year to pull the trigger, especially with end of year sales and Boxing Day on the horizon. Only after then, it's a good time to buy.

  • +1

    Will Harvey Norman price match?

    • +1

Maybe phone them and find out? Or check with their online chat. Just a suggestion.

  • Will this price come up on the eBay store you think ?

  • I have to keep telling myself I don't need it …..

  • Is this offer available in W.A, cant find it advertised anyware.

  • +1

Came from a target and the lady behind the electronics counter had no idea of this deal - she only pointed to what was in the current catalogue. Just wondering what the source of this is? Also interested in trying to get HN to pricematch since I missed out on when they went down to $299 last Friday :(

    • Exactly…Harvey Norman was happy to Price match but they needed something more than a photo uploaded in ozbargain :) btw dont lose sleep if HN does not price match their current price is valid until 24'th .im sure they will have another insane deal for boxing day after that

    • +1

boratsagdiyev is our insider Target spy

      • My Click & Collect order just went in.

        Thank you boratsagdiyev

Also told Tuesday night at local Target that the $369 price is a great deal and don't expect better.

  • And JB Hifi Weighs in with their own Deal of $289 with Fifa or Minecraft
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/games/Gaming-Consol…

    • I have been able to price match the jb offer at Harvey Norman. $189 using the Amex deal. Just need to find something else to make it $300.

  • The deal is available now online.

  • Just grabbed a Battlefield bundle. Thanks OP!

  • The only thing that concerns me is "Includes Battlefield 1 download token whilst stock lasts."

dafuq is this….surely everyone that purchases this deal with Battlefield 1 is GUARANTEED Battlefield 1?
