Everytime I get a quote from Youi they are more expensive.

    • +3

And in my experience Youi won't give the quote online, they will call your number and offer a ridiculous price. Obviously their target customers are people who don't know how to use internet or mobile.

Well after read those comments I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one feel Youi is a crap.

      • +1 here as well.

  • +6

Anyone have a barge pole I can borrow, I don't want to touch something with it.

  • +16

I wouldn't go anywhere near these guys - just read up on some of the recent news. Very Dodgy.
They're under ASIC investigation, possible Senate Inquiry etc..

Plus you can always get much better quotes elsewhere.

    • +2

They are creating a really bad reputation in the industry. I'd never use them

      • like the industry can get a worse rep.

  • What the hell are youi dollars? Sounds very wishy washy to me

    • +10

Youi dollars are the dollars they've stolen from hundreds of people, without their consent

      • -3

So this is where our tax dollars wind up…

  • +4

Youi rank as one of Australia's worst insurance companies. All their flash television adverts are a mirage.

  • +4

Youi is crap. Very uncompetitive and even came out more expensive than NRMA for me. Don't like the smug guy in their advertisements either.

  • +4

Really expensive and terrible to do a claim. Stay away from them, A 5 dollar discount on a whopper ain't worth it.

  • +4

Youi is a scam, stay away.

  • +2

I rarely comment here but I feel the need to login and give my two cents. I agree with all above comments m youii is crap x10000000. Don't ever even consider them. For anything. Ever.

    • +1

Exactly. I felt i had to login and warn others too

  • I'm surprised at all the negative comments here. My car has comprehensive with them and my experience with them has been pretty good.
I had a not-at-fault accident a while ago and put the claim through Youi (it wasn't the at-fault driver's insurance company). The process was easy. After repair they sent around a repair auditor who did a very thorough inspection of the workmanship to make sure all was okay. He was happy with the job but pointed out a minuscule blemish in the paintwork. Told him not to worry about it.

That's all well and good - and that's great that you got a good result, however they are under investigation for fraud.
They have been found guilty of fraud in NZ already for similar practices - and it looks like it is a far worse situation here.
I can't stand companies that deliberately set out to scam and defraud people under the guise of legitimate business - and then still make profits that exceed the maximum penalties that they are ever punished with.

Once again, it is good that you didn't have issues, however the posted deal is about promoting their product and given the circumstances, this is not a product or company that deserves ours or anyone else's promotion.

    • +2

Wait until you have an at fault!

They are a bunch of knob gobblers.

      • Exactly. They didn't have to pay in this example so that's gonna work out fine

  • +3

Youi - we get you(r money).

  • TL;DR - not a deal, but I personally don't mind Youi

A counter-point to the negative feedback: I have (and have had for 6 years) one comprehensive car policy with them. My wife had a pretty large at-fault accident and I've gotta say, the whole process was so painless I kept waiting for a conversation song the lines of "by the way Mr ebosh, now we need to talk about all of the hidden clauses in your policy that you surely failed to read and that will now bankrupt you".

I reckon her and I spent a grand total of 15 minutes total between us on the phone to them over 3 calls, our car was repaired quickly and came up at least as good as when it went in (I think better but now we have 1 side that looks brand new vs the older "original" side), and our premium actually stayed the same the following year.

I would drop them in a heartbeat if they messed me around or I could find a cheaper price, but so far so good. FWIW I have my other car with QBE and our contents with AAMI so it's not like I won't shop around if I can save a buck

    • contents with AAMI
good luck with them with a claim.

But after the accident, how much did your premium increase the next year or two? I think Youi (and many others) reply on laziness to make a profit)

      • As I said, it didn't rise. I'm paying less now than I was 3 years ago when the accident happened (but I appreciate that the value of the car is now less). I do a ring around every couple of years for all of my insurances and they are still the cheapest for the car in question

Who has actually made a claim and had a problem? I see lots of keyboard warrior comments to this effect but no specific examples. I'm not sure you can say "they are crap" when they are simply more expensive but not actually take up a policy and use that as a product review? I'm not denying there are problems, and have no vested interested, but it would be nice to read a review that actually included fact rather than emotion or hysteria.

I am with YouI currently for contents but never made a claim with them because they're the cheapest. Previously long term AAMI customer until they changed their bicycle cover.

For me, YouI are cheaper than NRMA by 40% for contents only and I can't find a cheaper policy that includes my bicycle under portable cover that actually COVERS me whilst I'm actually riding it (but are 30% more expensive for my car insurance). NRMA and AAMI as per previous experience only cover bicycle under portable cover if it's not being ridden at the time it's damaged or stolen, and if you hit say a Lamboghini on the road, you're not covered, but with YouI you are. You need a specific bicycle cover otherwise.

      Me.

I had an underground waste pipe burst that led from the kitchen sink to the drains.

I noticed outside that the wall was constantly wet in one place.

Half my kitchen was wrecked because of the leak.

They came out and some young inexperienced kid told me there was nothing wrong and it was simply rising damp. (I knew it wasn't).

I even dug a hole where the moisture was and showed what I was talking about. Still nothing.

I paid (out of my own pocket) to get thermal imaging done and drainage cameras etc The damage was extensive. The experts said it wasnt rising damp. They submitted their reports to Youi.

After 6 months and probably 50 phone calls they obliged and sent tradies. The tradies straight away knew it wasn't rising damp.

They submitted their report to fix all the damage - $9k. Youi refused and said "someone else can fix it cheaper".

In the end the cheapest, shittest tradies did it for under $5k. Workmanship was good though. They found more damage whilst doing repairs. They told Youi. Youi said tough shit, your quote is final (to the tradie) and you can fix that yourself. Tradie did do it (he felt sorry for me) but he made no money on that job.

They were absolutely horrendous. Pigs of people. DO NOT USE YOUI!!!!!!

sounds like standard insurance. did you goto Financial ombudsman?

A mate who's worked a long time in the industry said the motto is "Delay, delay and hope they go away" and added "it's best, it's best to be a pest & they'll pay you to go away".

Thanks for sharing, not sure why my comment above was negged, I'm just after facts!

    Frauds and scammers.

  • Wasted my time. The most expensive insurance company and took 40 minutes to provide a quote for me on the phone. Ridiculous, seriously useless company that has no idea!
