It needs a back brace, not necessarily a wall anchor. But a wall anchor is kid friendly.

Yep, like thousands if not millions of people across the globe using Kallax it's perfectly fine however there have been a few instances of catastrophic failure. Delving further into it it seems most of these occurred due to poor construction and incorrect usage ie. 90 degrees turned from the way they should be. Be sure to build them properly and use them the correct way up and you should be fine with either. Anchor it to the wall and you'll be assured this will be even less likely to happen.

I have kids so don't like the tall ones as they just aren't super stable. I went for 3 x $29 lower 6 cube ones from Target (the 6 cube ones don't attract a large item delivery fee) + random $12 item + ELF20 code (get $20 off when you spend $99) + free delivery over $59 - so essentially $79 for 18 "cubes" delivered. This Kogan one would be 16 cubes (and too high) for $102 delivered to my location.
Essentially $67 if you take the $12 random item off.
