  • So much info yet doesn't tell us the important info on resolution.

    • +3

      It's 1080P if anyone's wondering

      • -8

1080p is not a resolution or even anything to do with computer monitors.

  • How does this compare against the Dell U2414H?

    • +3

      It's 3" bigger.

      • it's not always true. my Dell U23 IPS color looks way better than my Samsung IPS (can't remember the model)

  • I'm in the market for a new monitor but I've heard that 1080p on a 27" monitor doesn't look good. Can anyone comment?

      • yeah i was looking at the same. isn't kogan gift card 10% off in coles or woolies? I don't know how much will be the delivery cost to Melbourne? msy selling for $249

update : 12 bucks for delivery. kogan gift card 10% off is in coles but starts at 28th December, not sure this price will be the same

        • Seems to be about $13 but considering the horror stories related to Kogan and the fact I would need to ship it to hong kong or whatever for any warranty it's not worth the hassle.

        • @BarginHunter: it does say it's aus stock plus additional manufacturer warranty.

I'm just torn between this three ips monitor

          1. mentioned by op in this deal
          2. kogan lg 21:9 ultrawide
          3. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284233 asus 27

i don't game but more inclined towards productivity & web browsing. Does this both lg monitor have eye care features for long usuage have like asus has?

        • hay RSG i trust that you did some research on all three of the monitors, but anyway i specifically looked at the one i listed above on youtube and the review for it, was great overall, specially at the price it's selling for. Keep in mind that this monitor was being reviewed by someone in the U.S and he stated that it was selling for $99 U.s. From what i saw in the video the screen looked great, however from the back not so much, it has a great big hunch back, it really doesnt look nice at all from the side or back like other pricy monitors do, not that it really matters but i thought it was something to note anway. Wouldnt really matter if you have the monitor's back facing the wall.

And yes for productivity and browsing the web, this monitor would look much nicer, ultra wide screens are really neat when you have 2 windows or multiple programs opened at the same time, you can work and watch a video simultaneously.

        • @Cheapascents: yeah i did the same too lol. good reviews on youtube for lg ultrawide 21:9 it is great for productivity. Exactly 2 multiple program running side by side is gold.

Asus 27 has light bleeding issues. I think i will go with lg ultrawide monitor. Hope the price on kogan is the same till 28th dec to avail the 10% off on kogan gift cards from coles.

        • +1

good choice RSG, i would purchase two of these LG monitors over the other ones mentioned and listed but i already have 2 1080 monitors and they work fine, i'm just trying to find an excuse to get rid of them.

        • +1

@bargainhunter, i suggest you reconsider because the monitor i have listed is a very decent looking monitor, you will surprised when you first get to see it upfront, i have done a fair amount of research and i approve of the monitor, normally before i buy anything i make sure it is beyond reasonable doubt that it is worth my dollar. As RSG said the monitor is aus stocked and delivered, that being said there is no reason not to purchase it, however if they do decide to con you and ship it from HK then i have nothing to say. You will not feel remorseful when you see this screen up close in person. It looks dang pretty great and that is only from the videos ive seen.

        • @Cheapascents: yeah true.. even better if the price remain the same till 28th december on kogan website you can bring it down by 10% by buying kogan gift card from coles. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284081

~$180 + Delivery will be $12 Meilbourne region. I will pull the trigger on 28th :)

        • +1

yeah hopefully, i think the price will remain the same on the 28th, dont think much people know about ultrawide screens, i feel like in the future its the way to go. Also note that the monitor is IPS panel, another plus

        • @Cheapascents: even better if kogan does free shipping offer or something lol. I wish! But this monitor is totally bang for your buck for under $200!

        • @Rsg: does Kogan website allow multiple stack of gift cards?

        • @solpiry:good question mate.. never thought of that. if anyone knows that would be great to know. I will get in touch with kogan anyways. Hope coles keep $200 denomination GC.

        • just out of interest, how would you watch video on the ultra wide? Just watch it on a portion of the screen? I'm not too good at working these things out! Referring to the aspect ratio

        • @PSEACT:yeah true you need videos in 21:9 format.. scaling i guess?

        • @Rsg: yeah I'm not sure either man. Maybe someone else on ozbargain knows?

        • @Rsg: can you please share the news if you know later? Thanks mate.

        • @PSEACT: most of contents i download is in 16:9 format. maybe vlc player can scale the aspect ratio. For youtube i think it should autoscale.

would be great if someone can educate us on this. thanks

        • @solpiry: yeah sure mate but it looks like a gamble now to get ultrawide, especially for watching videos. I'm planning to connect my surface to it. Read reviews where they recommend atleast 29" for ultrawide as 25" is bit cramped.

        • @PSEACT: What do you mean? If the source is 21:9 it'll take up the whole screen, if it's 16:9 you'll have black bars on the side. Same way if you watch a movie (21:9) on a 16:9 monitor you'll have black bars at the top and bottom. You don't need to do anything really.. it just happens

        • @PSEACT:

          https://pcmonitors.info/articles/the-219-2560-x-1080-experience/

Scroll to just before the end of the article, they discuss it.

        • @Hunga: yeah thought that might be the case.

        • @BarginHunter: makes me rethink of getting ultrawide now. But this LG 27" 1080p 27MP48HQ 16:9 OP mentioned has split screen right?

    • +1

It's not as straight forward as 1080p on a 27" is bad. You need to take into account your viewing distance, which is just as important as the screen size and resolution. If you are sitting about 20cm-30cm away from your monitor, you are going to see the pixels. So it would be a definite no in that case. But if you are sitting 60-70cm+ away, it's fine and i'd say go for it

      • I just measured it in a half ass manner, and both monitors are about 70cm+ plus away from me. The other thing I'm concerned about is that my current 22 inch Acer is 1080p so if I get something that's more than 1080p it won't be as seamless since both monitors will use different resolution.

        • So what's your purpose of buying this monitor?

Are you looking to replace your old monitor because your old monitor is too small and you're sitting far away? Then yes, this would be a great replacement.

If you want a dual monitor setup with your 22", personally I would absolutely hate it. There's too much of a difference so when you are dragging stuff between monitors it doesn't feel right. I'd either sell the 22" and get 2 of these or maybe consider the ultra wide that those guys are recommending. It won't be a perfect fit because a 25" ultrawide is roughly a 20" in vertical height, but it's certainly a lot closer. But that would still irk me tbh.

        • @Hunga: I had another Acer 24 inch 1080p monitor as my secondary, unfortunately my cat bumped up against it yesterday and it fell and broke, so now I'm looking to replace it.

I have considered selling or giving away my Acer 22 inch but doubt I'd get much for it to be worth the hassle and I didn't have a lot of issues earlier using it as a secondary monitor alongside my 24inch.

      • @hunga spot on mate. True, after 60~70cm distance it's hard to make a difference.

  • does jb hifi price match msy?

  • Are there VESA mounts on these? Some sites say yes, some say no.
I also read some reviews on Amazon that the pic quality isn't very good on these….

    • From looking at the back of this, it doesn't look like it has Vesa mounts.

  • picked it up from jb for $149!!

    • Good work. Is that through negotiation or standard price today?

      • would like to know too!

      • i just told them can you price match msy. that person said yes & gave it for $149. It was crazy busy. No negotiations or anything. not sure if he crossed checked the price but i can't complain :)

    • Please note MSY price in morning dropped to $149 & that's why i got it for $149 from JB's. Now it's back to $189! Good luck

      • damn!

      • It seems like they've messed up the discount and made it apply twice. I got this monitor for an extra 200 off the sale price this morning too!

        • haha awesome! did you end up getting 2??

        • +1

          @CVonC: I was tempted, but i think a 2x 34" ultra wide setup would've been absolutely ridiculous!

        • @Hunga:

haha stack them on top of each other :P

      • Wow lucky you. 24inch is for that price.

  • also registering on lg Australia gives you 36 month warranty for parts & labour.
