  Also, for the Momentum On-Ears, COTD is much cheaper (provided you can live with the colour/iOS version).

  Very tempted to pick up the Fostex T20RP MkII for the studio but then I saw the Ultrasone HFI 580 at $99.

  Anyone who has tried the Ultrasones for studio work care to comment?

    I do remember hearing good things about Ultrasone models, but another thing that frequently popped up with those were, they do something funny with the sound (S Logic). If I remember correctly, that feature was hit or miss with a lot of people.

    That said, eh, I've personally never tried those, it was on the list of headphones I was considering getting hence why I did fair bit of googling/research on those (as my first indoor headphone).

      Cheers, did some reading and it sounds like the "S Logic" is just marketing hype for… Stereo. Put me off a bit so I'll have to have a listen to 'em.

      I know that Fostex T20RP MkII's are great and still found in many studios.

        Basically, what I've gathered from my googling/searching was that apparently, it changes the sound by placing the driver in an angle. I did hear that S Logic does sound different, though I am not sure whether that's a plus or not (many people on forums for example didn't like it).

        Eh, I don't know, that kind of changes to sound didn't sound like my cup of tea which put me off it.

  What's good nc headphone? Do you still have Sony MDR 1000x or Bose qc35 for cheap?

    Nah, the 1000x have been cheaper than what they are ATM. Dont stock the qc35s..
    Have you had a look into the Sennheiser PXC 550 ?
    Apparently they arent as comfortable as the other two if you have a larger head (currently $468 but they apparently have better sound quality).
    Might be worth a look/ demo?

  Those AKG don't look like over-ears to me. They look like on-ears. Unless you're a baby, you're not getting those cups around your ears.

        How quiet is the environment for testing though? Every store plays background music over the load speakers, plus the noise of other people in the store. It's very difficult to test out headphones in a store environment.

        @lostn: Very quiet every time i go - no background music in the store, the most you'd get is a couple of people talking or the door chime when people walk in. I guess you could get background music if a customer tests one of the speakers but thats in a separate room and i havnt seen/ heard anyone test them yet when ive been there.
        I would give them a call though ((03) 9810 2999) just to make sure they have a pair available for demoing before you go in :)
