    • is the free delivery only if you PAY with the coles card, or can you get it purely for having the card (e.g. as amex earns more points, or gift cards save you 5%)

      • Free if you pay with it. However works for me as I do my shopping weekly and it's easily $100 anyway.

    • The free delivery is what got me interested. I'd love to grocery shop in the comfort of home. But it says they can remove this at anytime. How long have you had free shipping?

      • +1

2-3 years, I can't remember exactly. It's no annual fee so no risk really, I pay it off every fortnight when I get paid. The convenience is awesome. Although if they would instate fees and/or mess with the free delivery I would reconsider. It's purely for groceries plus it has your flybuys barcode on the back, that's all I use it for.

  • approved. thanks OP!

  • I used this last year very successfully. Plus plus do recommend. Now just wondering if I could re-apply…

    • is this for online grocery orders only or can it work for in-store purchases?

      • I did it in store. You have to follow the instructions but it went fine. I've also checked and it does say "new customers only".

        • Thanks mate

  • do they ask for a payslip?
    is there any BT offer?

  • Any chance you can get this if you applied just before the offer?

    • You probably have to call and ask them to include you manually I would say?

      • +3

Gave them a call and was told by a very combative employee, "We are running promotions all the time… You will be receiving the promotion at the time of you application. We cannot be changing that promotion when you have applied at a different time".

Haven't had the card for a day and im already a dissatisfied customer.

  • Quite a few hoops to get it, although my wife did it last year with no issues. Wonder if I can do it now? We have the same Flybuys account I think???

    • Is the flybuys account automatically created when approved for the card or do I need to create a separate one?

      • Pretty sure if you don't enter an existing flybuys number in the application, they'll generate a new one for you. Not sure if they are sophisticated enough to be able match based on customer information if you leave it blank and you already have one.

    • Is it just me or is this confusing as he11

" $100 off will be activated on your flybuys account and available for use within 2 weeks of your first eligible purchase."

I got my card, activated Mastercard AND FlyBuys - now what, just go into the shop and buy $100.05+ and it'll cost me nothing?

      • +1

now what, just go into the shop and buy $100.05+ and it'll cost me nothing?

No, you need to make a standard purchase anywhere first (within 30 days) to activate it. e.g. you could top up your OPAL card, you could by a drink from a 7-Eleven, etc. Once this is done, wait up to 2 weeks, check your flybuys account and there should be $100 in it. Could be there sooner, but call them if it is not there within 2 weeks. It would cost you difference between the total minus $100…technically 5 cents if you can make the total exactly $100.05.

You can then spend $100.05+ at Coles and get it taken off the total amount.

        Does the below help?

        Step 1

New customers only who apply and are approved for a Coles Credit Card between 4 January and 28 February 2017 and

Step 3 (eligible purchase being step 2)

$100 off will be activated on your flybuys account and available for use within 2 weeks of your first eligible purchase. $100 off will only be activated on the flybuys card quoted in the application process. • Once this is done, wait up to 2 weeks, check your flybuys account and there should be $100 in it.

When I applied for the card under a similar offer about 18 months ago, when the $100 credit was activated, it wasn't shown anywhere on my Flybuys account. Flybuys customer service confirmed it was ready to use (took about 3 weeks to come through), but that I wouldn't actually be able to see it on the account. Not sure whether that's still the case or if the process has changed now?

  • Has anyone been rejected for this card? I was slightly over the minimum requirement as I'm a student but got rejected last time. Not sure if it's worth trying again
I was approved for the recent commbank one though

    • You could try and call them to ask why you got rejected and if it is for something little or a system error you could potentially get approved…chances are they will just say "you did not meet their lending criteria", but it doesn't hurt to ask I suppose.

      • Cheers, I'll give that a go

  • Time to cancel my existing one!

    • +1

      New customers only apparently

  • Have to be 1 purchase huh?

Can it be done for opal top up?

    • I don't see why not?

  • I have recently applied for 2X MasterCard's including this Coles one and never heard a thing back. I don't understand how this can happen once. Little alone twice. Have a very good credit rating and income. I wasn't refused. Just seems my application was never considered

    • Don't you get a reference number when you apply so you can call and follow up? Not that you should have to…but should be there in case.

      • I honestly can't remember if I did or not. I know I received a page that my application was being considered. And your right I shouldn't need to follow it up. Having to follow up a lender is the first sign I shouldn't be giving them my business. I just thought it was odd. The other car was the 28 degrees card

        • Both cards are whitelabel brands of Latitude Financial, so could be a link there…

Anyone else getting error messages upon submitting application? Rang customer service for 'Lateral' and they were unsurprisingly useless.

  • Hey guys can someone please explain what the Payment Handling Fee $2.25 is? I've got to admit I've never had a credit card before and have no idea how this stuff works. Is this fee taken each time you pay for something at the shop or just when you repay your debt on the card? Can you just put some money on it and never go below 0? (Defeats the purpose, I know, but hey, it's a $100). Does putting money onto the card cost? Can't seem to find the fees!

    • Mate, I just googled "Payment Handling Fee $2.25" and the first hit was the Coles website saying it's when you pay your card off at Australia Post or in one of their stores. Lift your Google game!

      • Hey, I saw it on the site but still wasn't sure what it meant. It's my fin-intel game that needs lifting :S What does pay off mean? Like when you have a negative balance and you top it up?

  • anyone got their card yet?

    • i have got it today.

Good offer…I would have applied, but I'm trying to bolster and keep my credit score stable as older inquiries fall off

    • -2

What's there to neg? I simply said this is a good offer, but I'm personally not applying for one because I've applied for a few cards over the last few years chasing FF points, and I'd rather not put any more inquiries on my file…

  • -1

I'm a bit confused. So we need to make a purchase first $any amount then we get the $100 off the next shop at coles on the flybuys card?

  • I applied and received my card, I made my purchase. How do I go about getting the $100 off. I thought just spend over $100 and swipe your flybuys and $100 would automatically be taken off the total. But I called the coles credit card call centre and they said you have to pay with your credit card and the $100 would be credited to my credit card within 4 weeks. She didn't really know anything about it, she put me on hold for 5 minutes while she looked into it and told me that.

    • +1

Yes, that's how it worked when I took this card out a couple of years ago. I used the card for a qualifying spend, as per the offer terms and conditions, and the $100 was loaded on to my card about 3-4 weeks later. Note, it will NOT be a $100 credit that shows on your card statement, it's attached to your Flybuys account so once the discount is loaded (I contacted Flybuys to check whether it had been before I did a big shop at Coles!), you then have to spend at least $100.05 at Coles in one transaction, scan the Flybuys barcode that's on the back of the credit card (apparently it must be the one on your MC, not your separate Flybuys card, or at least that's what I was told), and the $100 discount will be applied.

      • Thanks for that, that's what I thought, you swipe your flybuys. I will contact flybuys next week.
The lady from the call centre said I have to make the purchase of over $100 on my credit card, that's not how I thought it worked.

        • +1

Yes, check with Flybuys and they should be able to confirm. It sounds like the lady at the call centre might be a bit confused? As mentioned, you need to make a purchase (of any amount, from what I recall) within the first 30 days I think it was, to trigger the $100 discount being "loaded". When you do the Coles $100+ spend, it shouldn't matter what payment method you're using as you don't even get to the point of swiping a CC - I was using a self-service checkout and you scan/swipe your Flybuys barcode (as you normally would) and from what I recall, a message came up on the screen about the $100 discount coming off and then it proceeded to the normal payment screen and I just paid the small balance that was left - can't remember whether I even used the Coles MC for that, I don't think I did. I know the software on the Coles self-service checkouts is different now, but I don't think the process of getting the $100 off has changed - I could be wrong, but Flybuys should be able to tell you.

        • @SimbaGirl:

hmm this is conflicting what the call centre told me
they told me you first have to make a purchase (of any amount) then you will later receive an email instructing you on how to claim your $100
I've made my purchase (packet of chips) now waiting on that email

        • @sinishta: That's interesting, maybe they have changed the process of how to claim the $100 off.

        • @sinishta:
i dont get it. do we have to make two purchases to claim this reward? say we spent 5 dollars, then can we claim 100$ back after spending, say, 110$?

        • +1

@baldur: Yes, you have to make an initial qualifying purchase within 30 days of the card approval date. That purchase is the trigger for the $100 discount to then be activated on your Flybuys account. As already posted further up this page, this is from the Ts & Cs of the offer, and explains how it works:

"New customers only who apply and are approved for a Coles Credit Card between 4 January and 28 February 2017 and make a purchase (excludes cash advances and cash equivalents) within the first 30 days of the card approval date will receive $100 off a single Coles Supermarket shop. $100 off will be activated on your flybuys account and available for use within 2 weeks of your first eligible purchase. $100 off will only be activated on the flybuys card quoted in the application process. To redeem the $100 off you must scan your flybuys barcode on the back of your new Coles MasterCard and spend a minimum spend of $100.05 after savings and discounts in one transaction at Coles Supermarkets or BI-LO (excluding smoking/tobacco product purchases and all gift cards). $100 off can only be used once and expires on 31 May 2017. Excludes Coles Express and Coles Online."

        • @sinishta: Made my first purchase 2 days ago, still haven't received the email yet :D

        • @SimbaGirl: does cash equivalent mean I cannot purchase a gift card for my initial $100 purchase to get a $100 off voucher on my flybuys card? I understand that for redeeming the $100 off offer on my flybuys, I cannot purchase a gift card, but what about the first purchase?

        • +1

@appletude: You don't have to spend $100 for your initial qualifying purchase - you can buy something worth $2 with the Coles MC if you want, there's no minimum spend amount as far as I'm aware (I don't know whether a gift card purchase would qualify, but seeing as there's no minimum spend for the initial purchase, I think ti would be silly to risk it).

That initial purchase then triggers the $100 discount to be activated - to claim the $100 discount, you THEN need to spend at least $100.05 at Coles/Bi-Lo in one transaction and the $100 discount is then deducted from that purchase - and as you're aware, you can't buy a gift card for the $100+ purchase.

I think the current Ts & Cs state the $100 discount will be activated on your Flybuys account within 2 weeks of the initial purchase - when I got my card, it stated "within 4 weeks" and I think it took about 3. If you want to be sure it's there before you go for a big spend at Coles, contact Flybuys and they'll be able to confirm whether the discount is available yet or not.

          Hope that helps. :).

        • @SimbaGirl:

thanks for this info, still waiting for that trigger to happen

I made a small purchase on the day i received my card

        • @SimbaGirl: Makes perfect sense now! Thanks SimbaGirl!

Just wanted to post some info for anyone who may find it useful.

I spoke to customer service on the phone and they said it will take up to two weeks after the first purchase for the promotion activation email to be sent to you. You need to wait until you receive this email before you can utilise the $100 discount. Once you receive the activation email, you then have 3 months to use the $100 promo discount. Hope that's accurate. The guy on the phone seemed very definite about it.

    • +1

      correct

I redeemed mine already and cancelled the card shortly after

  • I used the promo code when applying for this card. Received this card today but no mention of the the promo's in the pack they sent out with the credit card. Is this the way everyone else has received it?

  • I just made a purchase at a BP, it doesnt have to be a purchase at coles right? made purchase on the 27th

    • +1

      no.

  • has anyone spent their 100 dollar gift? any issues?

  • I reading through this, so if I apply for the card Today, I most likely will miss out on getting the $100 dollars because they still have to do a ID check etc?
