Awesome! Have been looking for a 27" 4K to add to my non 4K 27" Pc/PS4 Pro monitor setup.
Paid more for the Korean 27" years ago.
This has much lower input lag than my current one (apparently 9.6ms vs ~30ms).
    Stoked.

Edit: Link does not go to the 27UD68, but the 27UD58!!
    Rechecking the specs below

I'd probably add 4K into the title. I didn't know off the top which spec UHD was. Too many ambiguous acronyms.

    Specs:
    HDMI 2.0
    HDCP 2.2
    5ms GTG/reported 9.6ms input lag
    NO USB ports or speakers
    FreeSync

Well technically, it's not 4K and most screens that say they are, actually aren't.
      4K is 4092 X 2160
Whereas UHD (which most screens are) is 3840 X 2160

So whilst a lot use 4K in the description, they're inaccurate

      • +4

        OK, thanks.
Upon reading up it is accepted as the '4K' standard resolution for PC/TV even though there are other devices that output a more true 4K resolution.
        Ugh.
        (I didn't neg!)

        • +2

Yeah these standards get really blurred from really bad misuse by companies trying to grab everyone's attention
Add to that there's just so many different standards for resolution, like wqhd, HD, fhd, UHD, 4K, vga, etc

But yeah, it's more of a technicality than anything else
And they get around it by usually saying "4K UHD"

(I don't really care about a neg tbh, it is what it is, and I'm just trying to get info out there)

      • +5

Technically, 'UHD' is ambiguous - an "umbrella term", meaning higher than Full HD. Specifically, '4K UHD' is 3840x2160.

      • Do you know of any screens that use '4k'? That is a weird 1:894 ratio.

        • +3

          LG 31MU97 uses a 4096 X 2160 panel.

        • @O O: What is the purpose of that extra 256 pixel width?

No movies use that ratio. What else can you do with it?

  • +1

Mods, could you amend OP. Actual model is LG 27UD58.

I can't find any differences between the it and the 27UD58 apart from an extra cable and contradicting power consumption specs.

Input lag seems to be very similar to the 68 model, somewhat better under certain settings according to:

    "Color Gamut (CIE 1931) - NTSC 72%"

Am I correct to assume that it's not good for photo processing?

    • +2

      seems ok,

72% of NTSC is about 99% sRGB

I'm picking one up and do a lot of photography work. I'll be pairing it with my i1 display calibrator although it does come calibrated from the factory

was looking at the Dell but it's almost double the price

  • I've been trying to research, does anyone know if I can run this monitor at 4K 60Hz? I have a Macbook Pro 13 Inch 2014 model, I can see with HDMI I will only be able to do 4K 30Hz, but how about with the displayport? Can I get a mini displayport adapter that will let me do 60Hz? I appreciate any help.

    • This will do 60Hz. HDMI 2.0 supports it, no prob. I'm not sure of what the MBP of yours can do though.

      • In my reading I'm pretty sure my mac has HDMI 1 or something so it will only support 30Hz, unless anyone else can chime in with something telling me otherwise I'm pretty sure it's not gonna work well enough for me to shell out the dosh

        • +1

Yeah I waded through the Apple Support doc on 4K support across the different machines and I don't like your chances of getting 60Hz 4K unfortunately. :(
I think my Mac is older again so I'm stuck using my 2560x1440.
On that note, what are you currently using as an external display?

Maybe it's still worth the purchase even if you're not using the full 4K resolution right away. A jump to 1440 on 27" is a huge step over a 1080 screen.

        • @BlamJam: Thanks for checking my research man! I think it won't work. At the moment i'm using a 25 inch 1080p monitor so I am looking in to the 1440p upgrade as a possibility, the only thing is I always get confused by all the different models so I never know what a good deal is haha. If you have any recommendations on this current deal I'd be interested or else I'll just keep my eyes peeled.

          thunderbolt?

        • @aec: I was doing my best to research in to thunderbolt, how would that work from the ports on the computer to the display? Do i need to buy a cable? And I couldn't find any info on whether it would work at 60Hz except for this article:
          http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs…
If you search Thunderbolt you'll see where it says it will work, but this one article doesn't inspire me to spend all the money to find it doesnt work. Can you provide me with somewhere where it tells me it will work? Thanks

        • @Jakos1os: it's something like this you want

          http://www.uptab.com/minidisplayport-thunderbolt-to-hdmi-4ka…

This is just the first link that came up on Google and probably not the best price you can find and I can't vouch for the website at all, purely linking to show you the product okay 👌

        • @Agret: Will this definitely work with my computer? My computer isn't supposed to support displays at this high register at HDMI and I can't find any info on using it through thunderbolt. If it will work I'd be thrilled.

        • @Jakos1os: The Minidisplayport/Thunderbolt adapter supports a newer standard of HDMI than the one built into your mac, for the price of an adapter i'd give it a shot. worse case you can still run 2 screens with it.

        • @Agret: Except worst case is I buy this 4K monitor that doesn't work with my computer and am out $500. If I knew it worked I'd happily pay $40 extra for the adapter I'm just not sure.

  • If anybody in Perth wants one of these and misses out, lemme know! Got mine a few days ago, but it doesnt fit on my desk.. (too tall, and stand doesnt drop the height like my dell does)..
Not sure whether I can justify a desk upgrade…

    • +2

Or get a VESA desk mount…
Cos if this is the same as the 68 it has VESA
So go spend like $90 on a desk mounted arm for your monitor

      • Unfortunately that won't help in my situation. My desk has room for a monitor, but then a shelf above it, which is why this monitor won't fit underneath!
An arm might bring it further out so it sits infront on the shelf (if that makes sense), but it will then be way too close to my face while sitting at the desk..

        • +1

You really should look into what arms are available
I think you'll find that there's some out there that would fit your desk comfortably
There's articulating arms, but there's also sliding poles basically, that you can adjust

  • Any idea on how good this monitor would be for usual day to day office work? I want to have 3 documents open simultaneously (even 1/3 split) - e.g. web browser, word, and a PDF textbook. I don't game.

    • +2

Best go for an Ultrawide if wanting 3 splits.

  • lg has shocking warranty service from my experience….will not buy again

  • +1

For your own sake, don't buy expensive items from Futu / Shopping Express. They're absolute trash when it comes to warranty replacements and refunds.

    Small and cheap things? Sure
Expensive things where QC might be an issue? (profanity)

  • whats the difference between UD58 and UD88, anyone knows?

    • +3

It includes USB ports and USB-C input.
Not sure about the colour range or other technical details.

      • Also the 68 has a thinner bezel.

Sorry mistook the 88 for the 68.. ignore the above

  • +2

    Received mine today! Superquick delivery.
Had to stuff around with both the PS4 Pro (Settings on monitor & ps4) and get a decent DP cable for the PC before 4K @60Hz would work.
Now that it's all roses, I'm happy :)
