  • Do these pull too many watts from the PCI-E slot?

  • +3

I've had one of these for a while now and paid $280 Delivered from Amazon.. pretty good card.. runs everything i want to play without issues. Make sure to download the latest drivers :)

    • Apparently with these there is a power draw issue where ASUS bottlenecks it so you don't get the whole OC boost clock? Would you know?

      • +2

ive read the reviews… this card uses the least amount of power and runs the coolest VS any other RX470/RX480 because asus has limited power draw.. if you want its a simple change in AMD Watman to give it 100% power and remove the power limit bottleneck..

In the reviews it shows around a 5-10% hit on performance VS the Sapphire nitro RX470

I would rather the card use less heat and less power draw vs the 5-10% gain in Frames as i'm getting over 60FPS in everything i play with maxed out settings on my 1920x1080 monitor anyways.

        • Cheers good stuff, so the last question this or a 1060 3gb?

        • +1

          @Neis:

Both are good cards… If you have a micro Itx PC and case then grab the 1060 3gb as it runs a little bit cooler due to it not being as powerful.

          3.9Tflops VS 4.9 TFLOPs

If you have a normal case or Micro ATX case then the RX470 is the better card.. "FASTER overall" and more future proof.. both cards will run most things maxed out at 1920x1080p .. 4GB's of ram on the RX470 will help allot as most games are cross platform from PS4 and Xbox one that both have 7 to 8Gb's of Videocard ram to use!

        • @vid_ghost: Lad cheers!

      • You are probably thinking about the RX 480 which had that issue fixed with the driver update. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3093406/components-graphics/t…

        • +1

NO .. its an ASUS thing.. because this card is a global product they wanted it to be 100% rock solid stable in all parts of the world.. like Desert area's where temps are always in the 40c's super hot/// but people living in colder area's also have a wattage limit that's not needed that they can change in Wattman to get that little more FPS

  • is this worth getting? Anything else come close in price and performance?

In short, probably no. You can get 1060 GTX 3GB for the same amount of money (it was $252-$272 during the same eBay sale) and it will be faster (not much tho) than 470RX in pretty much everything, even including DX12 games. See for yourself:

      DX11 -

      DX12 -
      http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_1060_ga…

Randomly picked pages, but from what I've seen, applies to majority of tested titles and only probably in Vulcan RX470 will be marginally quicker.

Old benchmark results. Have a look at the updated ones by HardwareCanucks

        http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/reviews/video_cards/gtx-1060-…

        • You're comparing the wrong cards, the review is for 8GB RX480, this offer is for 4GB 470…

        • @galileo77:

That wasn't the point. It's just to show that those older reviews are no longer accurate. Whilst the 3GB 1060 beat a RX480 in the older review you linked. The 480 is on par with the full(6gb) 1060 chip in the updated review. I'm sure you can match up specific numbers yourself if you want to take the time.

Important to stress that the 3gb and 6gb version use different GPUs. It's not only the memory that's different

        • @Talsek:
Well, all right, but the question I replied to was - what's in the comparable price and performance?

futu_online sells 1060 3GB for $8 more (in the same eBay promotion), and I'm yet to see tests that prove RX470 4GB is better card. So… draw your conclusions.

Reviews from !!!!!! 22/08/2016 WOW .. check reviews TODAY!!! the RX470 crushes the GTX1060 and even the 6GB version in allot of games.

      • AND ITS SAD!!! because this is the VERY reason people always keep buying Nvidia products.. they come across old reviews online and think its a better product

Nvidia GTX680 was 20% faster then AMD HD7970 when it first came out..

TODAY!! the HD7970 is around 30% faster in current games VS a GTX680 .. BUT if someone looked up OLD reviews they would think the GTX680 is much faster
