  • damn u just beat me lol
lucky i got into the practice of re-checking new deals right before i submit…

    • LOL, i did the same thing, can never be too sure with these ones that change at mid day.. bit of a cheat… but still good deals for those who cant be bothered checking each site each day…or going to dealsdump.

    $6.76 to Sydney

      $8.31 to Brisbane

  • Hmmm Samsung HDD sigh….

    • +2

Yeah, Verbatim/Iomega are way better, well worth the 2-300% price premium ;)

  • Looks like USB powered but probably does not support 64 bit OS?

    • +1

does any information tell that this drive it's not support 64bit OS?

      • There is some reference to 64 bit OS below, which is not clear to me, that is why I am asking:
        http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/143404/HARD_DRIVE_-EXTERNAL_PORTABLE_DRIVES-_USB_ONLY/Samsung/HX-MU050DC_GB2.asp

        • the spec say it compatible with Mac OSX. which mean it support 64 bit OS. cause all the Mac OSX are 64Bit. That is what i think.

          • @minniewu: that's not true minnie. not all mac OS X are 64 bit

        • +3

It says on that site : "Bundle S/W does not support in 64 bit Operator System."

Software only, like anyone is going to install it!

          • +1

            @hippocrit: Oh ~~~~

Now i get it, the Bundle software does not support in 64bit OS.

That is the software not support only

@minniewu: Haha! you seem to translate your native language to english — word for word.

Edit: I would have taken someone saying that to me in a lighthearted way but, I fully understand, not everyone can. I was familiar with a phrase called "trigger happy" but now learnt what "click happy" means.

    • usually it just installs as a mass storage device, so fairly simple… id risk it though if i didn't have a USB/esata docking station already.

    Wish it was Western Digital

  • Aldi in Shepparton has (or at least had last Friday) a Medion Brand 2.5" 500GB drive reduced to $69. So you may want to check your local Aldi before ordering this one.

    • different brand though, wonder what hdd they use. (samsung, wd, hatachi, seagate) havent heard of medion making there own drives…

      • The Medion 2.5" external hard drive contains a Seagate Drive within.

    • +4

really? I would much rather this over Medion….esp for an extra few $$ (less than $5 in most cases)

Only advantage I see is Aldi having an easier returns process

      • Well, only difference in this deal is that they tell which manufacturer's drive is inside. I am pretty sure Aldi's one also has a drive from one of the big manufacturers. And yeah, if you only need a drive temporarily, you can always take it back within 60 days =)

        • is there any other shops like HN/jb hifi/officeworks etc that does the same thing? I mean the return part. I'm thinking of reformatting my laptop but I dont have a big external HD. So your idea will be useful to me! :)

    • yeh same, bought two of the Medion ones at my local Aldi for $69 about a month ago, although I think it depends on the Aldi because I went to another one about a week ago and they still had them for the original $99. Mine have a Seagate ST950032 5AS inside.

  • Can only buy 1…. WA postage 9.30…. Should make it 3 max :p
    Is it ide or sata?

    • +2

Should contain Sata drive. Although you'd have to connect to windows to check model number or open the case and void warranty to find out. As there has been a few external drives in the past that were neither IDE or SATA. That only came with the USB port already connected to the drive (can't remember which ones). So they were useless for using in other computers.

  • Hi minniewu

Is there a way I can purchase this along with two previous offers from pricesengine?

I wanna buy the 4GB DDR3 RAM plus the i3 processor
These products are listed as past deal in your site, but not available for purchase
So just wondering if there is any arrangement to purchase the past deals (if there is stock and meets your policy)

    Cheers

    • The answer from our sales team is, But I will suggest you can try our past deal page.

As i know sometime they will forget to turn off the page. Which mean you are able to buy it if you are lucky.

      Try it~~

      • Hi minniewu

I tried (to purchae from previous deal) - but no luck
I have emailed [email protected] couple of days ago but no response yet
Is there any email address for your sales team?
        Cheers

  • How is the quality compared to Western Digital?
Is it 'just alright' or 'cheap product, you get what you pay for' kind of thing?

I don't mind 'just alright' but don't want to buy 'cheap throwaway' HD, better save up for better quality ones..

    • depends what you read… each has there own flavor… sammies are a decent drive, but they did have 3.5"s with the tick of death.. (google it) (seagates have been bricked too,)

though havent heard anything about the 2.5s

put it this way, when the 2TB drives come down, ill be considering getting 4 sammies, so i have faith in them.

    • The difference in price isn't that different when including the postage cost. You can always get an $80 Western Digital from here

      http://cgi.ebay.com/WD-2-5-500GB-SATA-II-Laptop-Hard-Disk-Dr…

And just get a cheap enclosure for around $4.50

      http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5-USB-2-0-SATA-HDD-Hard-Disk-Drive-Enc…

All up it's about $10 more but for a Western Digital if you prefer them.

  • I like these cases, they hide scratches well.

I can confirm the software doesn't work in 64bit windows but that's no huge loss. Just a Samsung 'secret' drive thing that is semi useful. I was however caught out with it as I had some files from work on there to take home, and of course I couldn't open them on my 64bit OS. D'oh!

Good deal. I'd bite if I already hadn't bought too much stuff in the last week.

  • Will these work with Windows 7 64bit? I dont care about the software.

    • I got Win7 64. If it doesn't work I'll gift it! I don't care about the software which should be the only prob.

      • It's works I think if this can work with Mac OSX. Mac OSX it's 64bit as well.

        • Will the drive definately work with a 64bit OS?

  • My session keeps on expiring - I haven't had a problem with the site before…

  • Can i buy 2 pay 1 postage?

    • I don't think you can do that with our system online, you have to email to our customer service.

      • can you buy 2 items from pricesengine?

        • Sometime our deal is one per PayPal account. If you have two account it's should be ok.

          • +1

@minniewu: 2tb hdd again tomorrow for under 120 each ;-)

            • @wisc: sorry, where is/was this deal?

              • @themonty: sorry that was a request!

                • @wisc: hahaha i guess i jinxed the deal! lol though i swear i'd NO idea it was comin TODAY! :@

i'm so PISSED at how quickly it sold out! arghhhhhh!!!

  • ohhhh, it looks like lego, maybe i will get one :)

  • The HN $50 off cash voucher still works. You guys should have a go at buying it from there. That means you can spend up to $115 and still be paying $65 (as per this deal).

    • +2

HN $50 off cash voucher still works

      But it not available national.

  • routine 'special' price. $59 price point set here is where this item should be:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27836

  • does anyone know if the case can be disassembled and the drive removed?

  • no free shipping?

Not a bad deal, but I got the older PE deals like the Blu-ray and the 24" Acer and they had free shipping.

    • It's depends on the deal we have from our supplier.

  • $9.37 shipping to Canberra

  • hi minniewu, I have got my money back. Thanks for your help.

Guys this is a good company, thumbs up.

  • SOLD OUT;-(

  • :( :( Sold out :( :(

  • How quickly do they ship? I'm still waiting for my bluray combo drive.

  • Is this portable of one of those annoying plug-ins?

    • 2.5" = portable
3.5" = desktop (with annoying power chords)

      therefore this is a portable

  • I just got a WD 2.5" 750GB portable HDD from Domayne Auburn for $78 (using the $50 GoMasterCard voucher but they didn't ask me to provide the proof of GoMasterCard)

  • I'm really getting sick of all the "sold out"s on this site.

  • Very slow. Order was just shipped today.

  • Hi guys! Do anyone know which External Hard Drive Brands support FAT32 File System?? Thanks
